I enjoyed your video thanks Ben and it was very informative. Could you tell me how the Alpha battery performed in the last week or so with the temperature being below -0 degrees in the North West of the UK. 👍
I wonder how many waspsnests will be build into those nice heated fins during the cold autumns... it has such nice entrances on top, defensive peremiters all around, and free heated rooms too. it's like a 5 star hotel for bugs.
Heyllo, yes, it is possible to configure the Alpha ESS G3 battery to prevent it from discharging during EV charging, especially when using off-peak rates. This typically involves adjusting the settings of the battery management system or the energy management system that controls the battery.
2C does not mean 2 cell. It relates to charge rate--it can charge at twice it's capacity, so if it can store 1Ah, it can charge at 2A, but it can still only hold 1Ah, it can just charge faster.
Hey, we realise that there was a mistake once we posted, but by the time we realised the video had started getting engagement and we didn't want to have to delete and re-upload 😅😂 Thanks for pointing this out though!
6 months ago I installed 2 x 10.1 and 1 x 5Kw Alpha inverter in Australia, REALLY REALY Pleased, Have the EPS dedicated to fridge , instantiations hot water , lights, 1 GPO (TV) and internet. Sooooo cool every power black out we have had, has been a breeze
@@Dexter_Reform I've just received a proposal for 2x 5kW inverters and 2x 10kW batteries in parallel (so 20kW total) and it's slightly cheaper than the PW3 with more capacity and faster charge rate. Worth nothing that you don't get a gateway with the Alpha so no backup when you lose the grid if that's important to you.
So doesn’t do whole house backup, only 2 MPPT’s and not IP67, and less storage so clearly not better than PW3 😂. But yes cheaper and if you have the space you can parallel them. But not really ideal for outside given the temp “constraints” Bit of a hard sell tbf
yeah it's not great. Better to buy a 5.5KW lifelynk, the 10KW battery and have more for less. Hell, for the price of this, you could have 15KW of battery, a larger inverter and more solar input.
@@NevillePrinsloo-g7j appreciate the comment! Thermal management is a problem many have apart from Tesla, if it does have to go outside then this should be taken into consideration.
1. Nothing is unique on these. 200% surge load is common on all inverters due to the fact inductive loads and washing machines always pull more than their rated wattage in the first place. 2. The product is over priced unless installation is thrown in. £5000 is the cost of a totally custom inverter set up with 2x, maybe more, of this set up as of November 2024. Aolithium sells 5KW batteries for £700, a hybrid inverter costs not much (£650 for a 5KW) and you can easily, for £5000, make a larger grid tied system. Including the black friday sales, you can get 21KW of batteries for £2100 in the UK with a Sunsynk Ecco for £800 that makes your entire system £2000 cheaper for the same output and twice the capacity, with better warranties. 3. There's also better AIO systems. EPcube has a higher inverter rating, more storage for the same price and is IP67 rated for a lower price as well as a better warranty. There's no reason to purchase this specific system over others and definitely not over other AIOs,
I have 6 solar panels and heat source pump and. Thinking of. Getting 6 or 7 more solar panels, with a Tesla Powerwall 3 and gateway. Do. You recommend similar and in North Wales who would you recommend to. Supply and fit. My property has Eco. 4 insulation etc. thanks,Ian

Do Tesla heat their LFP in the PW3 so that it can function or is the chemistry different?

Can't beat having power when everyone else's is out 😅
Can this battery force discharge to the grid during peak hours?
Yes it can!
If you have 2x 5kw inverters in parallel, does that give you 4 MPPT ?
It does, but then you need the 2 x units to achieve
@@Dexter_Reform yes!

Seems the duty cycle is half the alpha, explaining why they’re half the price.
