Your videos have significantly improved my skills as an RC pilot. I'm grateful for the confidence in flying that they have instilled in me. Thank you for producing such invaluable content!
It's so cool that you're making these videos! Thank you so much.. I really wish there were more of these when I started.. thanks for contributing to the hobby! Keep it up, great video
This is the best explanation of post stall flying so far. Excellent work. Ive watched all the others. Just getting back into flying after about 5 years due to young family etc. I can do all the basics already and i reached advanced imac so good foundation. I do rolling harriers to the left, and was was learning rifles...But I sold everything during covid. Home and family takes up all the $$ and time.... I still really wish to be a master pilot. The question...apart from the simulator, if you had just $1000 to invest in aerobatics what would you buy? Im not ready yet to gat back another big gas plane...
Thanks for the kind words!!! For freestyle aerobatic flying, I think the best way to spend $1000 is a 67" airplane. I just built a 67" PilotRC Extra NG and I'm obsessed with it. 67" airframes are one of the biggest size airplanes you can get while staying with a simple 6S Lipo setup without compromising any performance. Power is ballistic with the right motor (I use T-Motor AM670), and you get a plane that will do everything almost as good as a 120cc. Obviously, the 120cc is still the king, but I find myself flying the 67" a lot more, just because it's performance in precision is almost as good, and can be as calm or as aggressive as you want based on the CG and aileron deflections. You could go for something cheaper, either foam based or smaller, but I've found that the flight characteristics suffer quite a bit. I haven't found any smaller/cheaper planes that have the same precision and aggressiveness all in the same package.
Regarding the simulator I still believe that the old Aerofly Proffesional deluxe simulated many airplane tendencies so much better than Real Flight. Specifically modified airplanes on the AFPD.
Thanks so much for these videos. I am struggling to harriers and hovering. My problem is the extreme sensitivity of the ailerons. In other words, keeping the wings level is a problem due to over correction. Any suggestions?
Apart from the obvious 'more practice' answer, you could either increase the expo in ailerons or reduce some aileron deflection. Also, when trying the harriers, keep telling yourself to move the ailerons as little as possible, less than you think is necessary, and see if that helps. If you have a simulator, you can also setup a plane with a lot of aileron travel and little expo so that you're forced to practice being very gentle with ailerons. And make sure you're at a high angle of attack, the higher the angle, the less authority the ailerons will have. I hope that helps!
Very very good advice. Thank you. Just discovered I had 0 expo for ailerons in my transmitter model I was using. Making adjustments to that seems to help. The advice about moving ailerons as little as possible at very high angle of attack is also very useful to think about. Thank you!

I agree. I definitely could've used some more tutorials back when I was getting started :-) Thanks for your comment!!!
This is great. Thank you.
Excellent video and explanation.
Thank you!

I actually really liked Aerofly Pro Deluxe and Phoenix RC. Too bad they aren't readily available anymore :-(
I'm from Brasil and I neve have seen a Good video like your
glad you liked it!
