Been a fan of mercyful fate since Melissa was first released. Decades later I'm still a fan at 56 years old. Rock metal macabre opera and totally unique!
I was 14 when the album got out... Yugoslavia was still a country... One of the best metal bands ever, end of story!

King invented black metal. The guitarist are amazing. They are up there with Yngwie and Blackmore.
King played guitar before he decided to sing. He wrote the songs and leads on some of the albums.
King still plays the guitar as he says it helps him to write music.
Jerry Meisler there are A LOT of types of black metal and Not all of them have growling, some sound like usual heavy metal bands. So there is no strict style borders in BM IMHO.
It's heavy metal.
A key, if not the, characteristic of metal is independence of thought. The desire to categorise/assign metal bands to a genre/box is antithetical.
Mikkey Dee recorded this great Conspiracy Album production; but Snowy Shawn got the honor of doing this great 1989 tour. Great times. I had the honor of watching Abigail 87 tour when Mikkey Dee was with the band. And I remember the opening act bands were: Santuary y Malice Band. The best thing was the price for seeing all these excellent bands. Definitely good times.👍🎼🎸🎤🎶🥁

King Diamond is a real Artist contrary to all today`s pop shitheads stars who are advertised in all TV channels
The riffing throughout the whole song is mindblowing,
but especially that part at 00:58 (which luckily repeats two times),
whenever I listen to it I feel the urge to punch everything that is near me.
It doesn't get heavier than this!
