At my new technical campus I am attending, in my culinary class, there are 4 Siemens UMMTs all code 3 horns. The classroom is kind of small so I don't understand why there has to be that many horns.
UMMTs are loud the way they are! Not sure why they think there needs to be a bunch! I should say there are Siemens UMMTs all around inside my college dorm! 2-3 on each of side of the hall, and there's one every few feet for example in basement areas, its pretty quiet down there so I think one is enough in the basement not 2 or 3, and hallway/corridors have a few between each dorm! Its crazy how loud they are when they are sounding and they are also on Code 3.
If you mean putting noisy alarms inside the classrooms, then yes, I agree with you...especially when a Siemens U-MMT/U-MHU caused me to have an ear bleed in high school...
@@LoyalmoonieProductions Wow, that’s bad. My old middle school almost had that happen, and they had to call the alarm company because people were suffering from hearing damage with the new SpectrAlert Advance devices they had installed there, which somehow got set to high! Luckily, that was a few years before I attended there. Also, this should be enforced much more than it is in elementary schools. I liked school, but never wanted to go because the alarm could go off! I even ran out of the building in fear a few times, and remember that means an elementary school kid was alone outside in a potentially unsafe environment! That elementary school still has red boundary lines on the campus border a decade later because of me!
We have fire alarms in every classroom, bathroom, and even every few feet you walk there is an alarm. In one hallway, counting the classrooms and bathrooms, I counted almost 27 alarms in that one hallway. Thank god that they are not loud. All I know is that the portables and outside have the loud alarms.
The problem for me is not the noise, it’s the sudden start. I think a less sudden whoop tone should be the standard in schools, especially elementary schools. We had to deal with EST integrity horns at my elementary school. (They produce a distinctive, piercing honk sound. You should look up a sample of one going off, truly terrifying sound for me.) It was no quieter in Kindergarten than 5th grade, although there was a bookshelf blocking the alarm in my Kindergarten classroom, which made no difference, and also illegally covered the ADA-compliant strobe. I remember this because of the distinctive pattern in the strobe light caused by the shelf.
Spectralerts are no joke.
My school has these alarms both ceiling and wall but DAMN SPECTREALERTS ARE LOUD
My tech school has the same alarm. SOOO FREAKING LOUD!!!!!!!!

Good luck with those U-MMTs...
In my opinion, having the noise in classrooms should not be up to code no matter the type of device and volume.

Why the fuck would they put a horn in the classroom!? A strobe would have been enough…
