You're kind of right -- They use some kind of mass laughter control -- they do the same thing on Jerry Springer -- they pump up the audience so they will laugh on cue -- it's sickening.

The laugh is not real. The laugh track is fake; in fact, you can hear the exact same laugh files being played over and over and over (of a specific man, and a specific woman; for example). What they do, however, is "sweeten" the fake track by splicing in some real laughter at specific points where people actually laughed; which are comparatively rare. Even if the show were that funny, which it's not, an audience (even an audience "in the mood to laugh" by where they're at) is not going to laugh hysterically and clap like lunatics after every single sentence; which is what happens in the end result.

I was thought it was real people. But videos kept saying laugh track. That's how I landed here. To see how it was done. It's 5 years since the show ended. But Young Sheldon is now ending and it has no audience. However, another show is coming.

I’m going to sum a post I’ve read about the whole process of filming a single episode.
For each episode is an amount of 5 days to complete.
Day 1. They read the script to the actors, technicals and writers.
    Day 2. General essay
Day 3. Real-time acting in front of CBS executives.
Day 4-5. Last essay with wardrobe and cameras, the climax of the week comes with a real time shooting in front of a 230 people audience (these people took months to get free tickets) sit an amount of 4-9 hours to presence the full episode filming.
    EXTRA.
    - WB Hollywood Studios, where the show was mainly filming has 6 different sets, 4 or them permanent, the remaining 2 are continuously changing.
    - Basically happens what we saw on the video, the cast says hi, cast and 200 crew people work on the set for the 8 required scenes, with 4 camera in different angles.
    - Mark Sweet is the host, who organizes games, gives souvenirs, gifts, etc; his job is to entertain the public despite the long hour journey.
    - Mark Cendrowski, director. If he asks to repeat an scene, they do, and if that scene does not make people burst out laughing, he re-writes it at the moment.
    - The producers assure TBBT is one of the few sitcoms that follows this process to make sure people are really enjoying the show. They don’t point audience when to laugh or make any sound.

@サニャSanny I absolutely agree. They may film in front of an audience, but they _definitely_ augment the real laughter with fake laughter. Also, think of any scenes filmed outside - not the blue screen shots, but some sort of non in-studio, non blue screen shot. There's no way to do those scenes in front of the audience, and you can tell just by listening that they're using totally fake canned laugh track. So this show is a mix of fake and real laughing, but a lot of people don't get that.

what I hate about our society is that fake laughing has become so prominent, that once you don't laugh out loud at something it's considered that you didn't find it funny.
Try it out yourself, don't enhance your laugh artificially in any way, just let it overwhelm you if it can, you'd be surprised how rarely you actually laugh out loud.
I often watch entire Stand-up Comedy shows without laughing, while actually finding some jokes pretty funny. If everyone in the audience was like me, the show would have been considered a disaster. I wish we would find a different way to show appreciation for comedy than to fake laugh and let the beauty of overwhelming uncontrolable laughter shine through again.

single-camera comedies (aka Clueless, Malcolm in the Middle, etc...) are shot on-location like a movie. Multi-camera shows are once taped with an audience (with added reactions & sweetening).

i hate the audience forced laughing and hooting and clapping. it makes it feel that the show is trying to hard to make it funny. thats why i loved Malcolm in the middle type shows.

    • @legomegaman101
      @legomegaman101 4 года назад

I'll be honest Malcolm in the middle is just written better as well. To me 90% of big bang theory falls flat when it comes to the gags.

Elias Meyer it’s just written a little immaturely at times (TBBT). But I guess that’s the hard point they’re trying to get across... that they’re pretty much nerdy little kids & don’t handle life like the average person.

I saw it being taped a couple of weeks ago and it was a really good experience. The announcer guy was annoying and used all the same lines he used on this video, but it's his job to keep the audience motivated and I guess he does it well.
