He played a little bit of Medieval 2 Britannia Campaign as Wales. I think it was on an April 1st video, he talked alot about Leeks and there was some Skyrim in the episode too
pontus always dominates in my games. I had one game where julii of their own volition had taken about five cities, brutii dominated the north and greece, I had africa and spain and pontus owned everything east of byzantium, the war was brutal
I also accidently paid them 200000 for one of their cities which didn't help, although in the long run, they lost more men attacking that city then they did against my main army
I've found cornering them in their settlements makes their cavalry usesless; and using 3-4 archers to flame the chariots makes them rampage around inside the settlement. it's probably a bit cheaty, but it certainly is entertaining.
Haha! No doubt. The best part of Jon's mini-series as the Scipiones was when he made the Carthaginian elephants freak out inside of their city and trample their own troops.
After a long hard war I got them down to 1 city, paid 1m denarii to become a protectorate, 5 turns later they declare war on me with an elite fullstack army... never doing that again 😂
@@judeanzealotrometotalwar5866 Better than the Auxiliary. Think they got higher defense lower attack than triarii could at least sacrifice them to a generals charge or something
mirmillo are locked behind coliseums which is the third and final part of the arena chain. which is kinda weird considering how they get Capua which was known for its gladiatorial games
Already watched this whole series twice, but with the lockdown still in place I've found myself enjoying this series for the 3rd time 😂 still one of the best games ever created, despite its flaws
PsychicRadroach That doesn't really work, disease is not being easy, and being sick makes it hard to live. So state of not being easy combined with easy,it becomes like a double negative.
I didn't say disease was easy. I said biological warfare in this game is easy. You just need to take your spy from one diseased town to an uninfected town. It's easy.
I'm so happy you've made this a full time series Jon. I think your type of fanbase (the more methodical type) definitely enjoys your style of gameplay whether it's New Vegas or Rome Total War or anything else you do.
I am really liking the change to 3 days a week. It takes me a little while to get through a part, and now by the time I finish watching the next part is either already up or soon will be. Thanks for the video!
19:09 "Definitely don't do anymore of this series while drunk" this sentence implies you've done other parts of this series under the influence before!
Ah memories! Love the series. Wish I had a PC these days to go back and play this. Many hours were put into Medieval Total War and this one. So much fun!
Rebels also disrupt trade (if they are on a major trade route). along with devastation you are also losing out on both the trade your city would be making on its own and the trade that is benefiting the rest of the empire trading with that city. Rebels also get stronger the more you let them roam around, so letting them sit there for like 5 turns like you did really made your job a lot harder.
2:40 With 2 hit points, wouldn't that make Velite number effectively 160 troops? If you think about it, battle lines with only the front rank fighting would mean that the front line would last twice as long as a 1hp unit, meaning that they could fight the same with half the ranks. I think some number-crunching is in order.
Huh. I just came back from a trip to Greece, and I visited Corinth and Athens and several other cities. Corinth was the last city on my tour. Seeing all the ruins and history in these places was an amazing, life-changing experience. The food and people were awesome as well. So sending love to Greece... ....before the Romans invade in the next episode. LOL! ;-D
one tip with the navies. always keep your second ship topped up with sailors. for some reason it takes the most damage and conversely also makes most xp. you can easily lose a lot of experience quickly when it sinks so take care of it.
I know this is an older video, but I've just gotta say I love your commentary! ''Thracians not Dacians. Thrace over here, Dace over here, no not Dace, Dacia...don't record any more of this series while drunk.'' I lost it laughing there, like I have several times in this series. 🤣
so glad the total war videos are getting good views your content is such high quality i'd feel bad if you felt like you always had to be the "fallout guy"
Rome 2 is only a sequel to Rome 1 in name alone. Rome 2 is a prime example of what happens when you try to do too much with your limited skill, customers hardware, time, and budget.
I feel like you should upgrade your slow moving arrow shooting boats with slightly larger and maybe slightly faster arrow shooting boats so you can destroy other slow moving arrow shooting boats more effectively
Small trick: If you have an abundance of money you can recruit mercenaries and disband them to get some extra population. You can even sometimes use bribing for that :3
I know you're in love with Juno but Mercury is good too. especially in Athens. I'm playing a game as the Scipii and when I took Athens it was making nearly 9000 denarii from trade, my second highest was carthage with 4000 from trade so yeah.
for me the most orgasmically good mercenary in the game is the mercenary War Elephants. they can act as battering rams, they instill massive fear, and if you're smart enough with them you can get them hundreds of kills every battle and keep them at full strength forever.
Every time I look at the minimap at the bottom left, I think about what next to do in my CK2 game. I'm likely to move towards the Germanic areas from the Dacian/Thracian areas. Actually, I don't remember if I'm connected to the sea in Thracia...
Had to battle a rebel uprising that consisted of velite gladiators recently with legionary cohorts. Still took forever to destroy the bastards. *Don't* underestimate their stamina.
ok 3 per week thats good... Wait, the last episode was 35 min and this one was 46, while the videos before that where somewhere between 53-60 minutes each... JON, YOU BETTER NOT BE SLACKING!
Hey Jon I Love this series and i just watched the Civ 6 series :) I relly hope you Are gonna do a Lot more strategy games and at least make 1 more Civ 6 series please 😊
I always thought the reason there was one consul in this game was because one consul always came from the patricians (i.e. the great families), and one from the proletariat. In other words, for all intents and purposes, there is only one consul position between the three families because the other they are not eligible for.
Hey Jon the Scipii get the sammite gladiators as I'm currently playing them in a capaign trying to face Egypt there very difficult :( but loving the series and love how many vids I get to see in the week :) so thanks for making these they are amazing
The best way to use your gladiators since they can hide in grass is to put them right in the center ahead of the mainline holding archer fire and ambush shock the enemies center front line loosing the archers and rush the mainline ahead for a massive shock route ;)
The Greek-Egyptian war could have been caused by a Greek rebellion somewhere, probably Cyrenaeca in North Afrika, though that usually rebels to Macedon. Or maybe just a random port blockade like the AI is wont to do.
i started a parallel game to this playthrough... and in mine the julii haventh conquered shit, and the brutii were wiped out by Macedon around 250 bc... meanwhile the skipii (me) have conquered carthage, cicilie, most of numidia and all of iberia... skipii for life.
8:04 "The Scipii have built : a Ram, 2 Ladders, and a Siege Tower to take out Syrause. Guess which units arent able to use ladders or siege towers?" I couldnt stop laughing at that
Watching Jon play this is loads more fun than playing it myself. . .
David Wellman Somehow it is lol
Same because I suck
Gp Productions know that feeling, Patavium is rebelling on me for Gods sake
V M Egypt was a pain in my ass till I got the pyramids
Scholars still speak in awe of the day Lucius Julius battled Windex.
The overwhelming stench of ammonia killed many Romans that day! :P
@@Albukhshi I was watching this at like 3am and the way Jon said that so seriously made me properly crack up loool
Hahaha
You've plagued me with excitement! I'm never gonna get sick of this
Weasel Weasel The love for this series is infectious.
Weasel Weasel same this is my favorite series on the channel I wish it would be daily
Weasel Weasel yeah the RTW bug has bit me as well. I get the chills just thinking about it, and I'm glad others are catching the MATN fever!
sam harlan No ( For Medieval 2)
For Stellaris, check the Mighty Ducks playlist.
He played a little bit of Medieval 2 Britannia Campaign as Wales. I think it was on an April 1st video, he talked alot about Leeks and there was some Skyrim in the episode too
Vindex, the cleanest general in all of Gaul!
Ending on a cliffhanger there Jon, lovely work.
His strategy is transparent xD
pontus always dominates in my games. I had one game where julii of their own volition had taken about five cities, brutii dominated the north and greece, I had africa and spain and pontus owned everything east of byzantium, the war was brutal
They do often do very well, but I find them fairly easy to take down - eastern spearmen are flimsy, and chariots melt to mercenary phalanxes.

"Take Athens. Reward: You will be rewarded." That's not how it works!
*holds out hand*
"Well we're waiting?????"
The senate sure knew how to troll the player in RTW.
Reward ends up being 3 numidian mercs you never knew you had
@@Scurge237 EXACTLY, haha. Or some "useful" Triarii well after the Marian Reforms.
@@judeanzealotrometotalwar5866 Better than the Auxiliary. Think they got higher defense lower attack than triarii could at least sacrifice them to a generals charge or something
you forgot the best bit about crete, its not trade, but there is a perceptible increase in chance of having cretan archers spawn there
Oh wow perceptibly perceptive. Sign me up
Everytime I hear "Bylazora"
I hear "By Azura"
And then I get flashbacks to Oblivion
My goodness
The Brutii get the Velite, The Scipii get the murmillo, and the Julii get the Samnite gladiators.
Samnite Gladiators can be total beasts
mirmillo are locked behind coliseums which is the third and final part of the arena chain. which is kinda weird considering how they get Capua which was known for its gladiatorial games
how do those three fair in one on one against their respective gladiator unit?
well the samnite gladiators stats are
attack: 14
charge: 3
armour: 7
defense: 7
shield: 0
HP: 2
velite gladiators
attack: 12
charge: 3
armour: 2
defense: 7
shield: 5
HP: 2
mirmillo gladiators
attack: 12
charge: 3
armour: 7
defense: 7
shield: 0
HP: 2
I just tested and Samnite gladiators won every time
"Don't do anymore of this series while drunk" implying that some parts were indeed done while drunk? lol.
Ikr
"Definitely don't do any more of these videos while drunk".....
I like to imagine jon is exactly the same when he's drunk except he has trouble remembering names and is somehow better at spotting things
Does this mean we're gonna get to see Rome:The walking dead? :D
That got a good laugh out of me, Henrik. Nice one.
You seriously deserve more subscribers Jon, out of all my subscriptions, your my favorite RUclipsr
insanegames same
I'm watching this series again
And wow does this episode hit different after Covid-19
can confirm, hits almost as hard in late 2021
Already watched this whole series twice, but with the lockdown still in place I've found myself enjoying this series for the 3rd time 😂 still one of the best games ever created, despite its flaws
Biological warfare in RTW is way too dis-easy.
PsychicRadroach That doesn't really work, disease is not being easy, and being sick makes it hard to live. So state of not being easy combined with easy,it becomes like a double negative.
Okay Castiel
I didn't say disease was easy. I said biological warfare in this game is easy. You just need to take your spy from one diseased town to an uninfected town. It's easy.
o m g
it's only easy if you plan ahead and pump out alot of spies
"walked around the market, coughing loudly without covering his mouth" oh so that's how it all started...
That going round the market coughing without your hand over your mouth hits different in 2021...

Just wanted to tell you that I freaking love this series!
Please never stop.

I've been looking all day! Love this series so much.

I love the new 3 day schedule. I NEED MORE!!!

At least at the end of the day we have Rome: Total War.
My favorite series on RUclips right now, thanks Jon!

Wooooooo Total War on Sunday!!!
RTW on Sunday. RTW on Tuesday. As if Monday didn't suck enough already.
It's 2021 and everytime you say quarantine I get triggerd hahaha,
4 years on and i still love this series
Not to complain, I love total war, but will the FONV videos keep the same schedule for Sunday's?
Of course :)

do you plan on playing any other total war games after this
