She has spoken about it in many interviews. She came to India in a hope to revive her worsening career in the west where she was struggling. The truth is she acted worse than a nursery kid and got associated as a flop actress. She was single handedly responsible for the failure of Rockstar, despite being directed by Imtiaz Ali, opposite a good actor, great music but a clueless actress 😂 no director wanted to work with her afterwards..

Aditi Rao Hydari was supposed to play the lead role and that could have really been her breakthrough role in Bollywood as she had the looks and skill to play Ranbir's love interest. Never mind, so happy to see Aditi doing well in south now.

Rockstar is one of my all time favs but i always felt a bit disappointed about the casting choice of female lead n then i rememer seeing imtiaz's interview of many years ago n he said he had a vision for the female character he wanted someone who looked had interestingly unusual features, someone who was beautiful yet pale n sad n nargis sorta fits that well . Also as much as j love the movie heer was the fuel, the soul and the motive that drove jordan . I feel the story is more about jordon's love n obsession of heer than a proper love story

We all know that she got the film because of her beauty but I had a chance to work with her for couple of days and she was down to earth and treated everyone with respect and with professionalism. At least she wasn’t diva or demanding like nepo kids and in my opinion she accepted that it didn’t work out well for her in Bollywood like other foreigners Katrina and Jackie but she chose to left rather than hanging with some godfather to save her career.
Story, settings, music, characters, i enjoyed it all including the role she played in the movie. No one could have done it better.

Rockstar was a beautiful film. Imtiaz had a vision for this role and I think Nargis fit the role perfectly. There are girls in universities who’d be able to identify with Heer, the way she talked, walked, dressed and came from a certain privilege. Her scenes where she is shown unwell and where she hugs Ranbir and cries her heart out in front of her family. Heer is an emotion. Imtiaz was able to bring that role to life but sadly many people criticized him as they are so used to seeing certain actresses with the same typical acting. Heers character demanded something different. Heer and Jordan created magic together. Imtiaz did a tremendous job with the film. Just amazing
