Siren Test | ATI HPSS 16 | Westminister Chimes + Voice (x2) | 9/4/23 | NCSU, Raleigh, NC

So a few days ago I found out that North Carolina State University tests their sirens every month on the first Monday at 12:15 PM. So to kick off Labor Day, I thought I would record their sirens. This siren was near the Partners Way parking deck. We couldn't park in the garage because we didn't have a proper permit, so we parked in a parking lot where you need to have a parking permit. However no one's car was parked and we were the only ones there, so we parked our car in the lot and somehow no one really cared. I set my two cameras for a zoomed shot and a wide shot. When the clock struck 12:15 I started doubting everything because the siren never went off at the time. All the sudden the siren went off, and played Westminster chimes. I expected it to do pulse, since HORSirodrone recorded a video of this siren doing pulse. This thing was QUIET, like extremely quiet. I mean, not quiet where you aren't able to hear it from a distance, but just quiet. The only thing I can compare this siren to is the Charlottesville WPS 2904 FROM THE PARKING GARAGE. Yes! That's how loud it is, about as loud as hearing the 2904 from a parking garage. After the siren stopped the campus police came by, and I was a little bit nervous since we parked in a lot where you need to have a parking permit. Apparently that was not what the campus officer came for. He never got out of the car, he just was waiting. I didn't know what he was waiting for, until the siren went off again, and he drove away. I'm not too sure why the siren went off twice though.
Well, when this siren went off, it unfortunately made a small girl jump that was minding her own business with her mom.
Anyways this siren test was a success! Hopefully Richmond tests on Wednesday.
