The reason it sounds so alarming is because the notes it emits are at a tritone interval, which used to be known as the "devil's interval". It's probably the most unsettling interval in music, since it's the furthest apart two notes can get without getting closer together again either in unison or at octaves. The interval is often used in music to signal that something is very, very wrong.
A very healthy sounding dual tone siren. Man I wish I could see and hear one these jokers in person. And personally, I’m a siren type of guy, and this siren’s dual tone setup is very interesting.

1st off, Thank you for subscribing! 2nd, Finding a Si-Rex to restore would be very hard to find. These are VERY rare sirens, and this one is the rarest. The only 7/10 port siren to exist. Finding other sirens isn't too hard to acquire. But finding parts/ restoring one may take time, and effort, especially for amateurs. I'm not sure how much of a DIYer, or fixer-upper you are, but if you work with mechanics a lot, It might be pretty easy for you. I hear Grainger has a lot of siren-related parts. You're best bet for acquiring an older siren would be looking for siren graveyards. TIP: Look in small-rural areas. You might get lucky and find sirens laying behind volunteer fire stations. (Trust me, that happened to me before). I went to film a siren, and walked up to the station with another siren enthusiast. And we found 2 thunderbolts laying on the ground, behind the station. It best to ask first, especially if it's not a volunteer station. But if it's a volunteer station, and no one is there 24/7. They probably would notice the siren was missing, or really care to be honest. But always ask first. Another option is Ebay and Govdeals.com. Hope this Helps!
@@queencitysirens8755 thank you! And ive restored several sirens (most of them were privately owned at the time) but ive repaired a few at volunteer fire departments before. And ill definitely check out the sites!

Yea, Butler county is pretty weird. It sounds like they switch up the tones sometimes. If you watch Bill's (amtrak3501) video. You can hear that the tones are a little different
No. The Sirex is a vertical omnidirectional siren. The super Sirex is a rotating horizontal siren. The Super Sirex can be single headed (like this one) or dual headed
Don't know for sure. It's part of the Si-rex series. There's no real confirmation of being call a super sirex. It also makes sense that the single headed version would be call sirex 15s. And yes, I know about the omni directions sirexes in Massapequa. It just doesn't seem to make sense.
@@CentralOHSirens definitely a siren you won't see being built today, modern manufacturers would definitely not make that for the reason, it's too chilling lol
@@kansasclocksandsirens I was saying that is rust and probably a red coat that the siren used to have but I think they changed it to a yellow coat maybe

It absolutely sounds like one of the downfalling string tones in a horror/spooky movie. Say for example the ghost track on Mariokart 😂

this siren's so loud it made my tripod dance!
I love how you can hear the thunderbolts in the distance!!
This is a Super Sirex. Sirexes are omnidirectional sirens. This just a 15 horsepower compared to the 50 horsepower models like the one in Adrian MO
One thing is
Where the heck is the tunnel-bolt ambience
That thing spins fast! That siren sounds very good! Good thing you caught it on camera!
It's not that fast. It's only about 4 RPM
This siren has the creepiest wind up

Sirens Of SW Ohio Yep!
it could be reverse wired, because it doesnt get louder when it points to the camera and that the sound is coming from the bottom.
The Horn is on the intake If the intake doesnt project sound,
The shroud (The sirex helmet) Is just a horn, i mean the chopper ports
When you pause the video but the siren still goes
Please stop
I don’t think sirens only sound scary, I also think they look scary

Cool video! So where’s Fairfield’s new T-128?

How old is this siren?
1953 or 54
Actually they were made in the 1960s
This one went up in 1954 when that building was the old fire department and police station. All the other sirens were installed around 1975-1977.
