I can't believe how powerful ivas voice is. Wish I saw them live. This song is one to be played in a dark somber place. To take all the nuances in no noise k Just the song. Imagery sadness and emotion all in one. Best of my song list
Have seen them twice love, once in 1984 when I was 23 and again in 2022 in Bendigo, Victoria. Michael Paynter sang this and was excellent and the whole show was just as good as it was in 84!
His father is portrayed as the artist in the video. ID was a classical trained musician ... Oboe, and went to college, played in Youth Sydney Orchestra.

I got to see Icehouse live only once in 1987 in Philadelphia opening for The Cars, and the whole show had the feeling of watching a sinking cruise ship 100 feet from the dock. It didn’t do Icehouse justice at all to be an opener in an arena. Icehouse deserved to headline at a more intimate venue like the Tower Theater or the Theater of Living Arts (TLA) on South St. Even the band A-Ha, who were hugely famous at the time, headlined at the Tower to a packed, appreciative audience. Icehouse deserved better then, but I hope RUclips will more than make up for it. It’s an incredible treat to see all of this beautifully shot stuff being released now.

As an Aussie I saw them in 82 and they headlined to The Angels who were equally big and the venue was small and old .... it was perfect.

It is a soprano saxophone. In the album version a cor anglais was used. Iva himself, played the cor anglais on the album version.
