  • This is a step by step, instructional video on how to cook jackfruit seeds! Believe it or not, they are 100% edible! Tastes amazing with this curry: lifeofl.in/vegancurry
    ➜ Check out my easy, step by step instructions on how to cut open a jackfruit: lifeofl.in/jackfruit
    ➜ Check out how you can make jackfruit seed curry here! lifeofl.in/jackfruitseedcurry

    Why would you want to eat jackfruit seeds?
    1) You are not wasting food - jackfruit seeds are edible alongside jackfruit fruit pods and the stringy casing that surrounds the pods.
    2) They are extremely filling and high in fiber. It's an excellent meat substitute in recipes like curries or rice.
    3) It's very neutral in flavor. It's pleasant, but absorbs sauces and soups easily.
    4) It's really nutritious for you.
    In many different cultures, jackfruit seeds are often used in curries as a meat substitute, roasted or grilled as a snack or they are used in tomato sauces.
    Benefits of jackfruit seeds:
    • Very high in protein: 7 grams of protein per 100 gram serving
    • Low in fat, high in fiber
    • Contains high amounts of thiamine and riboflavin: this helps you maintain high energy as well as keeping your skin, hair and eyes in good condition!
    • Anti-cancer substances such as polyphenols, saponins and flavonoids
    • Helps with digestion and promotes positive bowel movements
    • Great source of iron, which is good for your blood health
    My favorite uses of cooked jackfruit seeds:
    • Boil them, then put them in the freezer. Use them as meat substitutes
    • Roasted them in the oven, then eat it as a snack like chestnuts
    • Put them in a food processor and create jackfruit seed flour
    • Boil them, then chop them into tiny pieces. Add stir fried vegetables and onions and you can have a jackfruit seed stir fry!
    • Boil them, add cacao powder and salt and honey and then make jackfruit seed butter/spread!
    Many people ask "how do you cook jackfruit seeds?" but it's hard to find easy videos online, so I made this video!

      They are edible. Thiese ones are quite tough I don't know. I probably cooked them too long or something. Infact I'm having some while messaging at the moment. My first though with this variant, and it is kinda tough to chew. I don:t know if the time frame to cook has caused it to get tough but it seemed like I had it on heat way past the mentioned 15-20mins. I have to try it again next time. This time bound to the suggested time frame. Well I am enjoying myself. I miss these stuff. Good luck when you get a chance on some. Additionally there is a variant of which I am accustomed to which is the breadfruit seed. This can be cook with the flesh or cook them separately. They are usually bigger than the jack fruit seed and brown

    • @LifeofLin
      @LifeofLin  5 лет назад

      yes you can, similar to almond flour. it has a lot of nutrients. might be a little chunky though

    They are never that easy to peel for me. So I just eat a few at a time till I get tired.

    • @LifeofLin
      @LifeofLin  6 лет назад +1

      haha yeah. i just wound up eating a lot of them with the skin. do you cook with them too or just eat them as is?

    • @robb4044
      @robb4044 6 лет назад +1

      I boil them with salt but the outer white shell stuff never comes loose like that for me.

    • @LifeofLin
      @LifeofLin  6 лет назад

      gotcha - how long do you typically boil them for?

    • @robb4044
      @robb4044 6 лет назад

      Life of Lin I think I let them go 20 minutes

    • @LifeofLin
      @LifeofLin  6 лет назад

      You can try cooking them at extremely high temp. boiling water for an indefinite amt of time (might be 30 min) until the skin comes off. It will come off eventually.
