Just bought my Quad Cortex today and right out the box I am amazed. The Roland twin chorus, Marshall, and Red 5150. Just those 3 sounds without editing anything make this worth every dollar. I am floored how dynamic this is. It actually sounds like the best amp I use to own. The way the bass responds and digs in. I am floored. I can't believe how tight this is with ZERO NOISE. Shocking. I also bought the ToneXone pedal last month and they are worlds apart. The sound is there, but the soul is not. It still sounds like a solid state. The QC is something else entirely. I am very happy and cannot recommend people - no matter how long - save up and buy this. I used it as my interface for the hell of it and it is beautiful.
Hi, thanks for you video I learned quite a bit. However, regarding setting up the input gain, it should be set to 0 db for most players, otherwise it's like having a boost pedal constantly on in front of the amp and can make it almost impossible to get chimey tones with some guitars, particularly humbuckers. The amp models are setup to receive a normal guitar level input just like a real amp, you don't need to boost it. If you want more gain you can use the amp's gain.
Thank you for this video! You inspired me to go through and properly gain stage all my presets to suit my main (loudest) guitar and then adjust accordingly when using my quieter passive guitars.
@2:13-That is the screen I wish I could find! I can not seem to get back to the Factory Presets folder-Clicking on that folder brings up nothing. I'm on 2.0.1
hi great video! btw is there any way for me to play music with my macbook through the QC and out of my studio monitors and play my guitar along backing tracks?
Is there an online manual? The statement "you will do damage" if phantom 48 is on?...just caught me off guard. I mean, 1800 dollars is a whole lot of money to spend just to hit the wrong button. Have to say, your vid got me thinking about this unit again. But before I commit to that large amount of money, I need to see the manual to see if I can operate this. My setup would be going direct into a Bose PA or smaller PA for Acoustic gigs. Which brings me to>> How does one connect the Quad Cortex to a PA? Thank you & best regards!

Great video Dustyn! Thanks for posting it. Just got mine and this vid is really helpful. I really like the guitar sound you got when u were playing. Was that a preset or did u make that pre-set yourself? Sounds really good. Liked the reverb
Exactly. For the best signal to noise ratio, Neural recommends the volume knob being at max. Obviously more difficult to achieve if you’re a headphone user, but for live performance to front of house, always at Max
Hey Dustin I got a question about the quad Cortex I'm using a finger hot rod devil. The 4 cable method. In the tones And the tone sounds muffled what am I doing?
Without seeing how you have your preset set up, the first thing is to make sure you don't have an amp OR cab block in your chain. In the 4CM, the QC acts as an effects processor only, therefore if you have amp/cab blocks in your grid, you're effectively running an amp into an amp and cab into a cab. This is from the QC manual, see if it matches what you have set up: The four cable method allows you to use effects in different stages of the signal chain (pre and post) in conjunction with an amplifier and cabinet. The Quad Cortex will be used as an effects processor, therefore the Presets created for this purpose don’t need amp or cab device blocks. This method allows you to place pre effects tools such as overdrives, noise gates, and pitch shifters before the amplifier. Post effects such as reverbs and delays will sound after the amp. 1. Add an FX Loop device block. Choose FX Loop 1. 2. Add device blocks before and after the FX Loop block. 3. Set the output block as Out 3. You will need four TS cables for making the connections: 1. Connect your instrument to INPUT 1. 2. Connect OUT 3/L to the amplifier’s FX return. 3. Connect SEND 1 to the amplifier’s input. 4. Connect RETURN 1 to the amplifier’s FX send.
@@DCFGuitar man, my quad cortex failed. the problem was hardware failure of the volume that started to appear on the screen without triggering it. I have already sent it to neural support in Filandia and now I just have to wait to receive a new equipment or the repaired equipment. the shipping freight was paid by neural by UPS. Neural's customer support service is amazing. I live in Brazil.
Just got the QC. Anyone have troubles with factory presets not outputing any sound to guitars plugged into input 2? I've selected inputs 1/2 and still nothing. I'm only getting sound from the guitar plugged into input 1 and nothing from input 2. Don't seem to have this problem with my own presents, or ones downloaded from the community.
Hi I’m curently on a Boss GX-100 and will receive my QC tomorrow but I just discover with your video that’s not possible to have multiple/différents input levels by each type of guitars I own, 😢 so disappointing !
Great video man! Question! What if want to put down my guitar for a minute and use QC as an audio interface and just listen to music from my Macbook via Spotify, Apple Music or on youtube? Can I do that? Is it just a matter of keeping it connected to my mac via USB, having monitors connected to the two XLR outputs and having the QC turned on?
I have all four lanes full of various effects. Can I mute/unmute any of those lanes using the gain or volume blocks ? I assume these blocks could be assigned to any foot switch to toggle my lanes on/off anytime. U know... big thanks brother ❤
I have my studio monitors connected to my interface (Antelope Audio Zen Go TB) and just find it easier to use daily as it has a large volume knob. The QC sits on a board 100% of the time so it would be a pain to hook up a ton of things to it every time I sit down to play
Hey man! I really appreciate your videos on the QC. I’ve been thinking about making the switch from the Kemper, and a few of your videos have proved helpful and given me a lot of food for thought. I did have a question… have you experienced any latency issues with scenes that have a lot of effects or captures? I’ve seen a couple guys talking about this on a few Kemper forums and a few videos on RUclips… would love to know if these issues are few and far between, or if you have experienced this yourself.
Thanks for the video man. I just got my QC. I see you have your volume turned all the way up. I have two QSC speakers and run it through a mixer and it's WAY too hot to turn my Quad Cortex any where close to 100. I have my QC running XLR to mixer to speakers and my mixer channels are set at unity. Seems like a noob question but I had the same problem on my Kemper. Any suggestions for being able to increase the Quad Cortex to 100?
Can you turn down the gain on the inputs you’re running the QC into? If you gain down those inputs on your mixer, you should be able to run the QC at full volume. I wouldn’t necessarily worry about having your mixer channels at unity gain, rather I’d want the best signal-to-noise ratio on the QC (by running it at full volume) and adjust the mixer as necessary
@@DCFGuitar is that true? full volume is the preferred or best sounding method? I noticed helix was the same but i never got to crank the dial as my sound team always flipped. thank you for these tips! ive had mine for a while but just jumped in and started gigging not really learning the how to's
Hey there , I’m a new user . Any tips on how to run two amps through separate outputs . Say 1 and 2 . But input 1 feeding stereo delay to both of them ?
Consider that if you're playing with a band, that that bass might interfere with the sound of the actual bass. I've had multiple soundguys tell me to remove some bass so it all sounds a bit tighter.
I followed this video and increased the input gain when I nou that the QC. 2 months struggling with muddy tone, a lot of noise, very boomy bass. I sett it back to 0db and it sounds excellent. I was amazed that even the factory presets sounded better, increasing the input gain made palm mutes sound like machine guns… so, if it were up to me, I would not increase the input gain and leave the metter to below the indicator. I use medium and high output pickups. My feeling was also that factory presets suck. And don’t sound like in the demos done by artists (obviously paid and probably have post production). But now I think it’s a lot better.

You’re going to introduce some latency if you record from the QC into an interface into a computer, more so than if you just went directly from the QC to the computer. You’re also omitting an extra A/D -> D/A conversion by going directly from QC to PC.
quick question in my helix every patch too loud or too quite ,in this 9.0db every patch going to be same sound or is it going to be same like helix floor cause of diffrent amp settings ?? are you able to level every patch same volume sound ??
