I’m a rocker chick who hikes, and I use to live in the Seattle area. Lots of people dress like they are going on a hike. It’s actually pretty easy to dress outdoorsy if your in the Pacific Northwest. Keep up your videos.
Eddie Bauer
Same in the Northeast- that LLBean vibe, it’s just not as cute. More functional, less stylized.
As someone who used to live in the mountains and kind of were forced to dress like this - I LOVE how there's style added to it 😍
Looking good while functional is awesome
Fanny's LoA YES!! How much better does it feel to look good while enjoying your favorite outdoor activities!
Great video! Would you consider doing one about a soft feminine/pinterest/clean aesthetic (pearls, flowers, soft colours) ?
Núria YES! I’ll put it on the list!
@@elyssa_aesthetic that a great idea for Nuria :) I just hope that Elyssa would tie in some yin yang balance in it because I love to wear the soft feminine lines but I’m also very yang (flamboyant natural) so most of the time it’s very separate on me haha. Thanks! 😘😘
Your voice and delivery are just perfect!
This is a gem. I love your channel.
Please do a comfy/sporty aesthetic next.
Your me voice is ASMR ! Love it 😊 and your work is great thank you very much.
Remèdes Holistiques by Alexandra thank you for tuning in!
This aesthetic reminds me of "Twilight" (book/movie). I love the rainy, misty vibe! It's also a good practical style since I live in Northern Europe. But my body type is Romantic and sometimes I feel like this style isn't that flattering on me. But I love the aesthetic 😊
Julia Laukkanen Twilight was made in Forks, Washington one of the rainiest places on earth. This style is a Must in the Pacific Northwest you can't walk in high heels or flats up a mountain 😄
I wish I could but with pretty dainty sandals I'm just going to break them up hills or get them caught on a root.
Well comfort is the most important in my opinion! So besides utilitarian pieces for your climate, maybe explore the second more polished track! Use the materials and colors of this style, but choose more feminine shapes? For example, instead of an oversized button up or sweater, pick fitted options with curvy, more abbreviated shapes, darts or ruffles. I’m thinking a combo of mountain sporty with old fashioned country style ( the kids call it cottage core- -cringe- That term irks me! lol!)
I think combining styles to make your own is way more fun an cool than trying to fit into on ‘aesthetic’ ( yeah that word is even worse to me -lol!)
Good luck!
I’m curvy and muscular. Fitted options are the way to go. Also lace up your boots well to show off your figure and not look dumpy. The outdoors is for everyone so just be who you are and dress for your environment.
Elyssa, thank you for posting, and providing a little creative escape for all of us. I hope everything is going well for you. 💕
Chupacabra Malone thank you and happy to prove little nuggets of fun and inspiration! I’m doing pretty well over here in Colorado. I hope you’re doing well in your neck of the woods✨
Ok, I started this video thinking I would not relate to it... but I actually pull a lot of elements from this aesthetic! I'm not a very outdoorsy person, but I do like effortless and practical! Great video as always Elyssa!
Filipa oh how cool that you were able to relate🤍
This is spot on. I didn't realize I had a "Moody Mountain" wardrobe. I vagabonded for a few years and then found a base in Vermont, where people just have to dress practically. REI shoppers galore, haha. I prefer a more romantic, flowing, sexy style, but all I have is a (tiny) closet full of wool, denim and flannel lol..
PS The highlights etc are cheaper in other countries, where we wanderers pop in sometimes for some self-care on the wild road. =)
Ah, didn’t know that!
Great videos, thank you so much. I do love this look and quite a lot of people dress similarly here, probably because the weather in the UK is perfect for chunky, functional boots and warm, waterproof clothes. No mountains, but as someone who walks a lot, this is great, I have always loved utility chic anyway.
Elyssa, can you do this aesthetic showing example or tips for different body types or sizes? All of these photos seem to be taller, thin women.
I call this the Eddie Bauer/LLBean look. At one time their catalogues were like a Pinterest board. I love this look because I am from west coast Canada. 🇨🇦
Please keep making these. They're really good. Ignore the SK police.
Deb Less oh I’m definitely going to keep making these and many others!
Lots of NYers dress like this, we dress for the elements, cuz most of us don't drive, and you have to be mindful of stepping in dog poop and human fluids (piss, puke, etc.), and having to walk around everywhere, functional clothes and shoes is a must!
I live in the Pacific Northwest. The reason we all like this "look" isn't because of fashion, we live in a very wet, cold type of weather, boots or waterproof shoes are a MUST.
You didn't put summer or spring looks for this style which I guess it's more hiking gear , cargo pants with t-shirts, with a touch of Grunge.
I guess what you showed is the regular look.
Grunge is actually something that started here in Seattle thanks to the birth of Nirvana and Grunge Rock
I did NOT know I needed this!!!! But unfortunately I live in South Florida so I will have to wait until I actually get to travel lol. Thanks so much for sharing!!!
Casy Michelle even more incentive to travel! ✈️ 🏔
Oh hey lmao I'm from North Florida~☆♡☆
Your voice is really relaxing 😌 thanks for the inspiration!
Love these styling videos, you're doing such a great job with them. I used to live in this style, also having it as a uniform... still do when necessary. It can bee perceived as too relaxed and a bit boring. With time I've added some British country style to the mix to make it work in more formal settings.
Tant Monokrom oh I love that!
I live in Western North Carolina and add this aesthetic with my mountain/wilderness aesthetic. It's nice to just be comfortable and feel like you belong since I'm from Arizona.
Do something about beach style, please
I just started following your channel and I love your videos! I would love to see more specific suggestions on how to adapt these aesthetics to each of the kibbe types! As a romantic, a lot of outfits ideas I find are very va-va-voom/old Hollywood which isn’t really my vibe.
I completely understand what you mean it really can be hard wearing something that's less glamorous or frilly for Romantics but a casual video on it definitely helps though so watch one for each body type and it'll help with picking fabrics and the way they shape on the body and one thing is high waisted pants or cargo pants I love high waisted anything
To travel adventurously suggest you have money. Maintaining blonde locks also means you have money. I think the connection is partially class based. (Obviously not always)
P.S I just found your videos and you’re the most thorough, throughout, essayist on fashion, ideology and concepts I’ve come across and I’m so thrilled I found your channel!
Outdoor gear is pricy but the look can give maturity points for a young guy
I have that "vibe" going on and I am an outdoor person. The sun does bleach out your hair if you're outdoors enough no matter how dark you start out. It's also a given for me that most of my gear was purchased second hand. Everything is either from Thredup, Poshmark, Savers, or the tiny charity based thrift shops that dot our country. Go thrifting where you go hiking. EVERYONE eventually offloads some bit of gear they don't want, can't use, or doesn't fit them any longer. There's fertile ground out there if you really are an outdoor type! You can do and be whatever yo u want to conceptualize for yourself.
Finally found my “essence”. Living in Montana. I like the functional aspect to this aesthetic. Love the video and all the information in this video :)
Everyone dresses like this in Alaska I didn’t even realize it was a style
Thank you for the video! I am a mountain girl and I live in the Dolomites, but I’ve never been able to dress like this… Mountain fashion here is very high impact with fluo and vibrant colors, technical and mostly synthetics… (see brands like La Sportiva, Salewa, Montura and Karpos). Functionality is the main goal, light weight and fast. But I prefer American/Scandinavian outdoor fashion more and this serves as great inspiration for me!!
omggg your channel is pure gold!!!!!!
Please don't leave us alone!!
I loveeeeee listening to you talking about aesthetics
OMG - I’ve been binge watching your videos because I want to update my wardrobe for some travel photos to promote my business. Why - because all my clothing looks like this moody mountain vibe. My hubby and I are traveling around Europe full-time ~ hiking, biking, kayaking and paragliding with lots of time in the Alps. (When not on COVID lockdown). I literally live in hiking boots, cowboy boots and dressy Teva sandals. Originally I was so challenged trying to determine my kibbe type because I am a curvy plus size 16. However it has become obvious that I am a soft natural in both body type and essence. What really helped was considering what my body looked like at a smaller size and my favorite clothing items & the style of decor I prefer when I owned a home. Still need some more stylish outfits for touristy photos in cafes, galleries, museums, etc. I never thought of my current wardrobe as a style until I saw this video.
Really enjoying your choices of aesthetic, Elyssa. Keep up the great work!
This was great! I'd love a Femme Aesthetic video!
I love this! I didn't know it was a thing even though I have done this for so long. Thank you for so much great information on this aesthetic.
Love your aesthetic breakdowns. Please do more :). Would love an update on how to make this work for different body types ... probably because I am a soft classic (face)/romantic (body).
Really great video. I am new here but I am going to go try to find a whole bunch of other aesthetics on your page. You have such a calm, easy to understand, approach to your explanations! Can you update this now that skinny everything seems to be going out? Does anything change? Are we seeing more straight leg bottoms making an appearance? Thanks so much
I've been wanting to know what to call this look ever since I saw the "It's Ok, You're Ok- Bonjr" cover art, yay!! Going to try my best to make it work on my soft classic self haha. Great vid
Jinkies it can absolutely work on a SC! Have fun and I’m glad this could be a point of inspiration ✨
I love love me some mountain boots 🥾 and coats way before Instagram made it cool.
I wear them a lot besides being a TR.
Jessica Gomes YEEESSSS!! Being from Colorado these were staples. But I never really thought of approaching a functional outfit with some stylization. These days I do and not only do I feel comfortable and functional but I feel more like myself and confident
Elyssa I stylize with some belts over the coats to accentuate the waist even when the coats are a bit on the short side. The boots I wear are not chunky, they are more delicate and with some details ( I look like a kid when wearing chunky shoes 😂 )
I like this aesthetic a lot! It takes me back to childhood 🏞💚
Love, love your post Thank you!!
I’ve really been enjoying your videos and this one spoke to me so much. I’m from Colorado, and I’ve lived here most of my life since elementary school days. Everyone is familiar with this look and its everywhere, right? Anyway, I have to say that I like to add a bit of grunge/edgy esthetic to my “Moody mountain” look because I feel like it sets me apart and it suites my style. For instance, I wear doc Martin’s for a base-camp look, but I wear hiking shoes while on trails. Would love to know your opinions about incorporating these two esthetics. I hope I’m using the correct words to describe what I’m thinking here, I am learning from you that there are correct ways to talk about personal style.
Hi Elyssa, Wonderful video, I learnt a lot from that. God bless you!
i need a beach girl aesthetic video for each body type :)
Fantastic analysis! Thank you :-)
Can you make a video for an analysis on the Post Apocaliptic trend? I just found your channel and I love the way you break it down and explain the fabricks and tiers your really informational and you understand exactly what the main points on asthetics are great job on your vids truly great info, thanks
Love this aesthetic, but I live in a year-round warm place and heat stroke isn't very cute
This aesthetic is not remotely my style but I'm curious if there are any classics / soft classics out there who are? To my understanding the pillar of soft classic Kibbe style is a polished look and bulky fabrics, bulky shoes and lack of waist emphasis in this aesthetic is the opposite of soft classic. Not sure I see how they can be reconciled. Curious how other soft classics would dress for their mountain vacation?
I would go more british country style. Think tweed, scarfs, blazers etc. Like the royals in the country
Total homebody here just trying to plan what to pack (and not look completely out of place) on my hiking adventure this fall. 😂 there’s not an adventurous bone in my body.
It would be great if you did an orangey/summery/glowy aesthetic
Great video~ info! Love the classic chic minimalist as well.
I live in Montana and this is a very common look along with the western cowboyish look and what I call I can't make up my mind if I'm rocker chic or lumberjack...
Lol yeah same here in Colorado
I lived in Colorado for a few years so yeppers, I felt right at home with the fashion conundrum lol
Awesome video! Just a thought, be careful where you place pictures. Often you were talking about the boots, but they were covered by subtitles. No hate, just want to help ALL of your viewers enjoy ypur content to the fullest. Subscribed because of this video though :)
How would you make this work for a dramatic classic? Love this look so much but not the most obvious fit for a classic.
@Elyssa Would you consider
A) this aesthetic but for the Kibbe types. B) dark academia
People dress like this in the Pacific Northwest (British Colombia and Yukon which is part of Canada, Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Wyoming, Idaho & Montana) maybe ppl from Colorado as well.. basically where there are mountains and scenery and cooler climates
I like this aesthetic. I bet it would look so bad on my body 😞 like the wool socks. I bet it would just end up looking so messy on me.
Same but I do this to prevent Bugs and Ticks from getting into my Pants when hiking.
What kind of boot is the one in the last outfit? Lots of love
Twin Peaks vibe
❤️ the works
This used to be my aesthetic when I lived in the rockies, but now I live somewhere warm and I have no clue how to dress
weird comment about being able to still get highlights even though you're a traveler. these people clearly aren't hermits lmao of course they have access to hair dye in 2020... other than that, great video and analysis. i would love to see one about a western aesthetic!
Me looking at these pics like wait thats the functional look… 👀 where can I find this stuff tho?
Amei seu canal e a forma como você fala. 🇧🇷
I'm a Romantic and I dressed like this in college and looked like a potato but I loved it 😭
How do you do this in summer? Or is this just for fall and winter?
I'd be interested to see a video on the preppy look, the hipster aesthetic or the girly girl look..
Although this is not my aesthetic (I'm a soft dramatic) and I look like I've just rolled out of bed in these styles and pallid in these colors, I do like the boots in the look beginning at 13:02, though. Does anyone know what they are?
Y'all know I live and die for Twilight and also this aesthetic. But I never end up feeling comfortable in it because it suits my interests more than my lines. Let's hear how this could work for a teeny, tiny flamboyant gamine.
Boxy top layers! 🙌🏻
I'm FG and this is my go to style in the cold midwest months. Geometric prints like plaid, stripes, Aztec etc. Fitted pants and juxtaposing loose layers on top.
@@elyssa_aesthetic lol I take it back I’m a Dramatic classic. How can this work for DC?
Me at first: but this looks like just regular clothes? Is this even a thing? Me later:But thos are all my favourite colours?... Oh...
please do this in feminine style
