We enjoy your videos, especially those about Ft. Myers Beach. For nearly 20 years we spent the winters at Red Coconut RV Park.....until Hurricane Ian destroyed the campground. Of course I am thankful for those who remained safe, however what will be 'replaced' will eventually be on the backs of every tax payer and home owner in the US with government loans and grants, not to mention higher insurance costs to everyone with common sense not to build on hurricane prone coast lines.

@@PriscillaAlford It was horrible. They evacuated at the last minute...they were wet, cold and homeless....the help they got was from family to put them up in hotels along the way...One of the hotels they stayed at was on the first floor and it flooded, so in order for them to not get wet feet they had to stay in their bed. No sleep due to smoke alarms going off the whole night in the hotel. Family put a tracker on their phone so we could know where they were on the long drive. They lived with me for 3.5 months until we could get them placed in an apartment for seniors. Hurricane Ian was horrible. THANK YOU ALL for your kind words.

All coastal property all over the world has very high insurance rates. The good thing about getting hit several times in a row by a hurricane is that all the rotten and pre-building structures are knocked down by the 1st hurricane along with any dead or untrimmed trees. Subsequent hurricanes leave much less debris in their wake. Certainly boat sheds and other temporary storage sheds will not be built to housing specifications but some of those still survive. What contractors won't do but some DIY people will is to use telephone poles as piers and use 2x12s as bottom rafters that are bolted onto both sides of the poles then double strap the floor plates to them. My cousins had the poles going all the way through the walls with the roof beams attached to them. That house is on Galveston Island and is standing solid as a rock.

This was the first surge. The one that happened early evening was terrible. I could make it down there to film. Sun just starting to come up now. Will see how bad it got.

We use to live in Fl right below Ft Myers. We got a cat 2 one time. Had a 40 ft tall palm tree with a very wide trunk, in our backyard. The tree broke in half. Completely broke. About 6 feet was sticking up out of ground. The rest was laying on the other side of a 6ft wall.

Most likely not. I live in SW Port St. Lucie, which is 20 minutes north of Stuart. The wind was nonstop & strong from 10pm Thursday-3 am Friday then it started raining a lot. It finally stopped around 5 am. I don't think there's a lot of damages but there could be some flooding since it's been raining a lot the last couple weeks in Port St Lucie/ Stuart area.
