I just want to let you know our 13 yr old son loves mtn biking and working on his and his friends bikes. He put all his Christmas money towards making a bike shop in the garage. Every detail had to be just like your shop down to the white plastic hooks in the white peg board. He and his dad built the work bench by hand and modeled it exactly after your work bench per his request. He's working towards filling his peg board with the Park Tools one by one. He basically idealizes you and I'm so happy he has found his passion. We want to thank you for being a great role model for our son! I'd love to send you pictures if you're interested.

If you re-do your floor I'd highly recommend getting horse stall mats from Tractor Supply Co or Big R. They're usually around $40 per 4x6 sheet and can be cut to size with a box cutter. It's what i use in my home gym and they're bulletproof. They're comfy to stand on and can stand up to me dropping 400lb deadlifts. When they get dirty, a bit of Simple Green cleans it right up.

Can confirm! These are impressive. I used them on my own home gym a long time ago and there is nothing better. Would be killee in a shop. If they can handle a horse they can handle a man and his toys! Also the lack of a diamondplate pattern makes keeping them clean so much easier!

For the floor problem I would recommend horse stall mats. You can get a 4 x 6 ft, 3/4 in thick piece at tractor supply for less than $40. They smell a little "rubbery" at first, but they will be in the shop as long as your shoe rack! Pressure wash them to new again from any state(and when you first get them to tone down the scent). I'd crawl under one of these mats during a tornado or earthquake. Bombproof. boom. Thanks for all the great hacks and videos!

  • @davejones3710
    @davejones3710 5 лет назад +20

One thing I would add is a wall mount for your camera. What I’m thinking is a retractable mount which can turn left or right with a part to go up and down to get the perfect angle and when it is not in use you can put it in line with the wall so you don’t have to move the tripod when ever you go around that little island.
If you read this thank you and pls like so Seth can see👍

Thanks for the tour! I came away with a few good ideas. One suggestion for your workbench is to cover it with a thin piece of MDF or Masonite. It's not super expensive and because it's smooth, it's easy to move things around on it, heavy or light. Just a few screws will hold it down and keep it from moving. When it gets too skanked up and marred, it's easy to replace with another piece. Thanks for all your hard work, I learn a lot from your channel!

Something I use more than expected is a pair of hemostats with curved and ridged jaws. Perfect for pulling and placing ball bearings, holding cable and tubing in place, and untangling grass deep down in cassettes, to name a few. A magnetic parts cup is also essential, and cheap (I see you, too park it in your vice's anvil).

Thanks for all of the awesome content! Watching all of your videos is very inspiring. I have a few coworkers that have started to ride with me and they are now watching your videos and we talk about the content after each ride. I even built one of your 2x4 bike stands for my new 2018 YT Jeffsy 29er large frame. This is the 1st full suspension bike I have ever owned and watching your videos on what to look for on a new mountain bike gave me the confidence to drop the money on this amazing bike. Before this purchase I used to ride my specialized hard rock compact disc break that I bought after saving for years back in the 90's. I now allow my friends to ride this bike and they love it! Ever since I found your channel I have been binge watching your videos as well as Alex's videos and even Phill's videos. I am dreading the day when I am finally caught up on all the videos.
I also have a 2001 Toyota Tacoma with out a toe hitch. If you have seen one of these trucks you will notice that the tail gate is very narrow and the bed is not very deep. Because of this, no tail gate pad was small enough for my truck. Eventually I created my own hack. I bought a large pool noodle and cut it down the middle. I then strapped it to the tail gate to create a pad that would not harm my truck or my bikes. I can send you a picture if you would like. It didn't look pretty but it got the job done for about $5.00.
This last season I found the answer to all of my problems when I needed to take several bikes and my buddies to Big Bear in California. Many people have smaller older pickups with shallow beds and thin tail gaits which is why I am sharing this with your channel. I found a bomber strap tail gate pad. They are much cheaper than spending money on a hitch for a truck that only has a few good years left. They are also cheaper than a full tail gate pad.
    Thanks again!

Awesome video! Tip on screwing into pegboard, you can use the cheap drywall anchors in the peg holes.

I really liked the style of filming, you didn’t just do what everyone does and walk around it. I liked seeing cut scenes of things in use etc

Seth, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can you make a budget bike build. You could use parts like 1x10 deore, rockshox xc30/Sr Suntour air, shimano mt200 brakes, shimano zee crankset and other cheap but good parts (you could even use a dnm dropper). This could also be a great way for your sponsor to show their products. Please consider this as many of your viewers would enjoy this and this would give inspiration to many people
Like 👍the comment so Seth can see this.

I can't believe it has been that long since I've started following you (just before the move to NC).
Looks like you have plenty of PVC to address some of the drainage concerns at Berm Creek!
Also, I'd drill holes at the bottom of the PVC pipes of the shoe rack for drainage. But make sure they fall between the pipes below it so you don't ruin the shoes below.
