I’m at 109k on my R32. Debating doing the timing chains soon and the clutch pack as preventative maintenance since it’ll need to be out. Still scary lol keep thinking of the good ole “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it”
How did you balance everything after changing the discs? The reason why it is delivered as a set is to balance the whole thing, which is why the manufacturer puts so much emphasis on proper assembly.
I didn’t notice much of a difference, but it was preventive maintenance. I would probably recommend replacing clutch packs if your having issues with slipping. It’s hard to say. I don’t regret doing it, since I had the transmission off the car.
I hear a noise in mine rn, I’m trynna figure it out if it is the clutch packs, it’s when the car shifts down on its own or up on its own I hear the gears being switched, I replaced the flywheel but not the clutch packs…
Do you have any codes on the transmission? If you do, it’s probably a solenoid. If you don’t I would try to do a DSG calibration. See if that fixes it. If it doesn’t then you probably have bigger issues (Clutch packs, Gears etc)
They use the same Clutch pack. The transmissions are different. The R32 Mk5 has mounting threads and cut out in the bell housing to mount the 4motion Transfer Case. Also the Bell housing will only fit 3.2-3.6 Vr6 Engines. The Mk5 Gti transmission only fits 1.8-2.0 Engines, Also it’s FWD.
U are the best I’m doing the same thing for my 08 bagged r32 and also a rear diferencial ur videos are really helpful Thank you for share your knowledge!! Big blessings...
To be honest, it feels the same. I probably didn’t have to do it, but since I had the engine out of the car, I did it anyway. I heard the clutches last about 100k but I bet they would have lasted longer.
You have to do measurements for the shim you put in the a brand new Clutch pack. I installed the old shim when I replaced the Clutch discs. I didn’t notice a difference after doing the install with the new K1 and K2 clutch discs.

holy german engineering batman!!
Hi, which brand clutches did you install?
How did the car drive afterwards?

No measurements to check at all?

bearing issue, the bearing underneath the oil pump
I hope you check your clutch kit was on the spec if not you gonna re donne it:(
What you mean?
So the MK5 R32 and MK5 GTI use the same transmission?

Do you felt a noticeable difference in the clutch engaging at a take off

@@unclemoesgarage6130 but did you feel a delay (slipping) when you left after a complete stop (before and after changing the clutch pack)?
Is there no need to measure the new clutchpack K1 and K2?
That is the same thing i was wondering. Did the care drive normal afterwards?

@@unclemoesgarage6130 thank you, that was very helpful
