Pretty Yende is a South African girl who heard opera for the first time when she was a teenager. It was actually an advert on TV and she went to school and asked her teacher what that music was .. ... The rest is history. We are immensely proud of this young girl who has gone out and made her place amongst the great stars of opera. She won the Placido Domingo contest and has just kept on working hard in this most challenging art form. She sings like an angel.
Lovely! I constantly sang this as a child when the movie first came out in 1962. Pretty Yende has a beautiful voice and she's pretty, too! Best of all, she has such emotional truth, she expresses and acts out the song.
As if her voice wasn't already enough to make her a great soprano, destined to be counted among the greatest, she also has an incredible scenic presence. I just saw her a couple days ago, singing with Javier Camarena and the great pianist Angel Rodriguez. What an incredible trio. Here in São Paulo! Rarely we get to see people of such caliber on our venues. The audience was absolutely entranced by her and her colleagues. They were also incredibly generous with the public, answering two calls for a bis. A night I won't forget.
Javier Camarena is also overwhelmingly great, charming and an excellent peer for such an incredible soprano. I hope to have another opportunity to hear them live again.

Dans cette région du monde on viens au monde chanteur. C’est un scandale.
Over operatic. Opera singer can ruin any music.
