I love the positive attitude...even when sailing along and the occasional ''dammit'' slips out you never lose momentum. I have watched all the car shows and Chad is the one I look forward too everyday. I like the chats he gives...the open views....and the you can do it too advice. I like him and jolene and feel the shop is less stressfull to watch without family and the old crew. A random character to go get parts is sometimes hilarious . Thank you two for doing this everyday....I build old cars by myself and appreciate the effort it takes. Alan in Texas.....
Chad & Jolene fantastic work as always, the running boards look much better than the original ones did. This project has really been amazing to watch it come together. Chad I know that the metal work is your favorite part of doing a build but, it would be fantastic to see this one go to paint. I understand that the prep work is really tedious but, the truck would look really good completely finished. I hope you will consider doing that!
Chad makes valid points although steps and procedures are put in place for the longevity of the job. People haven't the luxury of parking a car or leaving it in storage as most simple or honest folk need vehicles more as a daily or work requirements as opposed to hobbies or toys. These extra procedures are required as people want life in workmanship as opposed to repairs that are expensive and unaffordable let alone the time constraints that are also associated with re-repairing the job requirement. You cannot compare a 100 year house to a new one like you cannot compare an old running board with current. Chad himself would and should know as he has also mentioned this many times as steel quality is different, craftsmanship, pollution, contaminants let alone the most crucial which is paints whether it be led based or otherwise that would stand the test of time as opposed to the rubbish sold these days if you want to compare apples with apples?
Watching You use the jack stand for an Anvil to straighten that ear on the support for the running board reminded me when my dad used a 6"x 12" I-beam about 30" long for an anvil with a hand hole cut on one end, so he could take it to where ever he was doing body panel shaping work. Good easy cheap tool to make for your shop.
A lot of builders wouldn't have felt the need to put those original braces back in. The new running boards are plenty stout as they are. Those two added braces though will cut down on stresses where they bolt on, especially to the fenders. I love your attention to details like this Chad!! You and Jolene bring us great content every day, thanks!!
Jolene, once again, thank you for the outstanding camera work. Chad, this old man is really enjoying watching you create these parts and this build. Your humor; talking yourself through things as you work; your creativity; fabrication; and hard work...those things remind me so much of the way my grandpa was. So, watching you... not only is it informative and entertaining... it's sometimes a little trip down memory lane.😎😎 God bless, and Merry Christmas to you all!!
I have been watching the two of you Chad and Jolene for a couple of years now. Chad your so resourceful you give us all champagne on a beer budget. Just the basics scraps of Steel a MIG welder a couple of grinders. And Jolene you're doing a wonderful job filming everything getting right in there I feel like I'm there. Keep up the good work
I know that you don't have time to read all of these comments. But as a former Instructor for Sheet Metal Workers Local 80 in Detroit. I would have Loved to have had you as a student. The equipment and the welding shop is top notch and you would have been a star with your work ethic. I am Retired now and your videos make me feel young.
Good intro humor today Chad/Jolene! I have to say God Bless you Chad for your no nonsense approach for unnecessary use of product, my friends and I call it the KISS method (keep it simple S…..) The craftsmanship and camera work are truly exceptional , and Inspiring to watch and learn ! Hats off to Chad and Jolene
I am from the UK and have been following you and Jolene since the tv series on Sky , you never cease to amaze me with your talent and skills....you both are a great couple that really compliment each other.....Jolene also has great camera skills....always look forward to your next video.....
Another GREAT video!! Jolene, you capture every movement, found myself leaning down when Chad was mounting the running board to see what he was doing and you took us right under there to see 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Chad you nailed it!! Well “welded it” 🤣 with your running board!! Amazing job!!!! Love what you do!! Can’t wait for the next one. ❤️❤️
Hello Chad & Jolene. I hope that you both have a great day today. I watch your show a lot and I learn something new al the time. Thank you both for doing this for all of us that are watching your show.
Hello guys. I can see Chad doing 100 miles per hour already. Running boards look great. Hopefully they go on and he can get to the finisher piece between rear fender and door. Jolene, great work as usual. Just waiting for the opinion poll to see what Chad does to complete the tailgate. My feelings are that the Hiltz logo is the only logo to go on there!! Keep up the inspiring work. Greg in South Africa. God bless.
I think all trucks should have come with 14 guage boards, never seen anything thinner as built to last, nice job Chad and I knew you had some kind of roll, fold or flare in mind to match the wider fenders, looks great
WHEEW,that was a bugger getting those braces off but they came out good after all,,the boards are coming out so good,,it’s so exciting watching you chad,,it’s neat to hear Jolene giggle in the background, lol lol,, an fina checking out your work too, love ya’s,,👍👍😀
Weld Through Primer is only $20 a can and would take care of all the brackets (And anything more) and under the running boards where the brackets go, just saying. 15 minutes extra time for all 4 to take off rust and coat. You have been doing such a great job otherwise, very talented. Rust never sleeps and rain comes when you least expect it. I do love your project, your vision on this one is awesome.
I have watched this build from day one. And I have been so enthralled in Chad's fabrication, that... until just now (in the closing minutes of today's video)...I hadn't noticed that the rear wheel/tire is missing a couple of lug bolts. 😂😂 I bet though, that BOTH Chad and Jolene have ALWAYS been aware that they are missing.😂😂
Chad and Jolene you are both doing a great job on the truck it's starting to look like a cool little truck and all your videos have great content good job guys.
On the running board braces, you need to loosen the bolt on those bottom supports so you can adjust them. Also, there was another hole under that lower support where you could do another plug weld for more strength. Those running boards are really nice. I'd say a good bit stronger than the originals.
This build above any other shows off chads metal work skills and also the speed in which he gets through each task is amazing… I’m Lovin this build.. Steve Morris 😎🤙
I want to commend you for your inspirational approach to your videos. It's no nonsense down to earth stuff. Thanks. Shout out to Jolene for the great videography.
I am amazed what Chad can get done in an hour. Everything he does in 60 minuites would easily take me 64 minutes lol. As always Jolene I love your videoing, zooming it close, and your steadiness, very well done.
Chad and Jolene you two are making a fantastic job of that truck it’s coming along beautifully it’s going to be nice when it’s painted or even left all steel and it’s nice to see what a lovely relationship you two have
Bad Chad….please quarter a guard for the zip grinder. Just enough to keep your fingers safe. Slice the guard thin it down then make a small 1/8 or 1/4 of a circle out of the guard. Stops you from slicing your fingers off. I couldn’t watch Aiden using a zip wheel his fingers were too close. If you cut the guard down it will not get in the way…..dude your the best I want you to stay in one piece!
Still wrestling with the running boards . Ya they look easy but until you have done them yourself they can give you more extra work than expected ! Thumbs-up Jolene very good camera work and Thumbs-up Chad on getting it done ! 👍
I tell you what I’m loving the truck true story you’re skills are unlimited to learn and burn the way you do amazing true live and learn what an incredible couple you are !!!!! Just Keep Rockin till the Cops start Knockin 🙏🤘🤙😎
Chad - you have just saved thousands of antique 4 door cars from rusting into oblivion - Created a New Old New Trend. (since auto beginnings people who needed a p/up would slide a cart bed or old unused step side beds up into a car trunk - ugly) Not Chad, he says all you need is a grinder, mig and desire and you too could make your own work of Art Pick up. Never cease to amaze me.
