Daily Conor Oberst quote and occasional picture:
oberstquotes
M. Ward's voice is so freaking amazing!
Reminds me of my grandson who died at the age of 27. This was one of his favorites. He sang like an angel, now he is one. I cry every time I hear this.
@@SteveOmiix it's beautiful to be sad about someone you love... don't take that away
lol
@@berthasghost7814 thank you for your comment. I will never stop remembering him. Some memories are heartbreaking but most are joyful and Im thankful that he was in my life.

His taste in music was great too.
May he rest easy and may God bless you!
I am so sorry for your loss. This album is a truly beautiful way to remember someone. It’s one of my favorites. I hope you and your family are finding some semblance of peace in healing.
the contrast of Jim and M.Ward's voice is like almost enlightening.
I've listened to this album countless times. I still believe that this is the creme-de-la-creme of the whole effort. Should be an Americana classic, in my opinion.

Truly
i just adore this track its been ten years and nothings changed
well, lots has , but still love it
This is still one of the very best songs I've ever heard. Deserves to be an absolute Americana standby
100%
I keep coming back to this song. I soothes my mind. Whatever will be will be. Their voice makes me want to cry with joy.
This is absolute magic. I revisit it once every few years and it still hits just like the first time. These four create something that can't be described, or reproduced.
I realize that people are entitled to opinions. But who are the 4 hard of hearing people that didn't like this??
Still SLAPS in 2022 🙌🏾
This is one of those songs that makes you stop doing whatever you're doing and just listen. It's breath taking.
MOF is such an amazing band. Wish they'd give us another album.
Me too!! Saw them at ACL and it was awesome I'd love to see them live again
still my favorite MOF song. I prefer the version on the record where M. Ward sings, but this version is also beautiful. Can visualize this song, although it has been long since I've travelled by train.
Jim James, oh you beautiful son of a bitch.
I love this track so much, it's so haunting and I'm haunted...
Yes, i'm here because of the trailer of "Scenes of a marriage", new HBO Series.
This is absolutely beautiful... Music for the soul.
Ive been getting into this album lately. its been cold here in Vancouver, like minus 10. I drive to work at like 430 in the morning, dark and ice cold. and this song comes on, little snowfalkes falling and me driving. its otherworldly.
love the entire album! one of my personal favorites of all time!
128,126 thousand views are me, simply replaying this body of art. This is absolutely beautiful.
wow..this song could have been written...100 years ago excellent..thes guys are fantastic.
This is modern day Traveling Wilburys!
Jim James to Roy Orbison
Mike Mogis to Jeff Lyne
Conor Oberst to Tom Petty and Bob Dylan
and M. Ward to George Harrison
This is a large amount of talent and love and i love all of it!
JAMES IS AN ALL AROUND AMAZING TALENT. There is still good music around, and still being made. You just have to know where to look
Just masterful. The epic sound of passionate singers who voices ring in harmony-over the top in every good, possible way.
you guys must to work in another album!!
omg these guys just ignite so well togather
As much as I absolutely love M.Ward, I think I like this version better.
that is so freaking cool that they have a different member sing their songs in these videos. sweet.
M Ward in the live version does this song alot more justice but this is so amazing! These guys together make each other better. Really hope they tour again soon!
Beautiful version. Was lucky enough to catch this tour a number of years ago. Looking forward to more.
This is much better than the album version.
Such an amazing version (i.e much better than the album one). It's strange - it's haunting but makes me feel very content. Can imagine travelling by train across the US listening to this non-stop.
Beautiful. That's all that needs to be said. :)
definitely my favourite MOF song, as sung by M. Ward. This version is ok, but not as beautiful as the original versionl
The harmonies in this are perfect. Bravo boys.
are these alternative versions available for download or on an album? please, please keep ridin' that train!!
No it's not.
I Think it's definetly Will Johnson, drummer of MoF. He also sang this on the live show I was.
His record 'Vultures Await' is something everyone must listen who likes MoF
Uh oh. Great old(ish) song with only minor recognition at the time gets put in a big new tv series. Wave of new comments incoming.
i just found these guys while watching bright eyes videos... im liking it a LOT!
Thanks for sharing, Annie. I don't like monsters but I like folk music, the sandman and trains. :)
this is the kind of music that is capable of BIG things. i have so much respect for these guys
@theantibling obviously conor oberst is no bob dylan but they both fall in the same falsetto vocalized folky music category.
Dear MOF:
Can I hang out with you guys? Can I be the fifth Monster? Pleeeeeeease?
Sincerely,
MIdget of Folk
I could cry...
@bubsadoozy
That's exactly it, it is a 12 string electric mandolin has a really beautiful tone.
@mkrugkill i like the vid too man but conor oberst to bob dylan? you serious?!
Modern day Traveling Wilburys
C'mon guys, how about a monsters of folk vol ii?
Ummm, most definitely not a mandolin. I'm not sure what kind of guitar it is.
For Carol and Jimmy D . and all the Rannoch crew :)
This one should be on the record... it's way better than the one on it...
Can anyone tell me the intrument Mike Mogas is playing? 12 string mandolin?
I love this take on the song. But I like the original with M. Ward better. His voice sounds rusty like an old train.
Both deliver exquisite beauty.
Magic guys. Nice one
Looks like a Gibson Lg-1, which I am about to purchase in two days.
Jim's fucking pipes, man.
why the f is jim james singing this song? this is m. ward's song!
fucking love this song its on like a muslim prayer 5 times a day
Very Nice Boys!
Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. Perfect comparison
Crolande -- Agree with you on the CSNY comparison.
Sounds amazing at 2:11! How does he change his voice like that...
falsetto..
Oxycodone is a helluva drug.
O love this song fucking muchh
@mkrugkill I would say that's a little off. Jim James is more relatable to George Harrison, and M. Ward has definitely got the Bob Dylan vibe going, with the glasses and scruffy voice. the others fit pretty nicely
this song reminded me of bob dylan's "tamborine man"
@mkrugkill Love the comparison. I thought about a moder-day Traveling Wilburys after hearing Jenny Lewis' version of "Handle With Care" and it isn't too far off from this. I think someone like Ben Gibbard in the Orbison role would be awesome (as it was in that version) but I don't know that I'd ever want to hear a MoF song without Jim James in it!
@derpusderp It does sound good! I have the album too and noticed that as well, but I honestly like MWard better, but it's still really great! Peace to you.
*LOVE*
if ever there was a second half to #newmultitudes and the music of woody guthrie which ultimately presented a great divide upon principles and beliefs no one had any awareness because words and content can be an antithesis and not praise
I appreciate the willingness to experiment but still prefer the original album version of just M Ward. I think it's one of his best.
heroes of folk is more like it ‼
seriously fellas, beatles as a kid
&, now, rocking out of this world
with you guys is excellent ♫
if no other media such as news, tv, literature, existed besides MoF, the world might just get thrown into another Ice Age due to the level of chill that would follow listening to them all the time :)
Get the word out dudes. I've forced a lot of my shitty music loving friends to listen to some MMJ and I've had more than a few conversions.
well how bout that, m. ward singing on the album, and jimmy james singing on this one. think it works better with jim at the helm here.
Nine miles away is monster locomotive repair terminal, in this big train town. Cumberland,Md. Nice!
@samcare goat voices my man, goat voices. (ella fitz, bob dylan, petty, devendra banhardt, conor oberst)
Freakin awesome!
Look 3 people are deaf.
man I want to melt when I hear this, sooo much better than the album version. I would die to see them live.
@Michaelness123 Well... lol. Conner Oberst is only incredible when he tries. :)
i saw them at the roxy in london and they were amazing yim and ward especially, the album seems to lack a bit of hunger for me x
@gbjdmd Jim James.
you are indeed right and this is epic..but there is part of me that dreams of a "featuring Tony Dekker"..
Mr. Ward, Mr. Oberst, Mr. Mogis & Mr. James.....My ears need no more.!!
What is that instrument Mike Mogus is playing? A mandoline? Its beautiful
Are you trying to compare jim's voice with any other mortal voice on this planet?
they all have the about the same amount of songs on the album
Excellent!.......is that a mellotron I'm hearing?
Oh yes Yim owns this I wish they had recorded him singing on the album version
My favorite song on the album.
Jim James
wow
Excellent!....is that a mellotron I'm hearing?
Gute Musik zaubert mir immer ein Lächeln auf mein Gesicht, weil der Text mir aus dem Herzen spricht... Thank you! I love your music
Theses guys could create more another album
@davemcconn That's my favorite part of the whole tune
In this video, Jim James from My Morning Jacket sings lead vocals, but on the album, Ward does.
I would kill for a gibson acoustic... =(
I would love to know who wrote this one. Reminds me of If the Brakeman Turns my Way, but much more peaceful. "Whatever will be will be."
Erin M Pretty sure this is another M. Ward gem.
It was M. Ward who wrote it, you can tell from the way the guitar is but also like, he said at the show I went to at the Union Chapel! :P
