Updates since producing this video. The CPU fan, despite having 4 pins, will run at 100%. There isn't even a BIOS option to change that. Also the physical 16x PCIe slot, gets detected by CPU-Z as only being 8x physical. Turbo Boost isn't working at all, so the CPU will run at Base Clock at the most. VRM temps check out fine though, 54C under load with CPU-Z.
for the 16x PCIe Slot getting detected as a 8x slot, could it have something to do with the GPU you have installed? Apparently PCIe 3.0 Cards run at 8x instead of 16x when installed in a PCIe 2.0 slot, considering it's a H61 chipset then it should be (most likely) a PCIe 2.0 slot so a newer PCIe 3.0 card would be running 8x anyway.
This looks like the format used in those mini PC by Acer and eMachines. Could be nice to upgrade one of those, and make a good mini PC, they have a 220W PSU by Delta or Chicony so enough room for a good GPU.You should try to get your hands on the ASL GTX1050Ti Low Profile single slot that's on AliExpress for around 160€. I'm curious to see what it's worth in terms of heat and noise.
I've build 7 machines with i5 2400 early this year, I would not recommend getting this board, for these reasons. 1. Mostly only had 100mbps ethernet, and they even still list it with 1gbit Ethernet, it's fixable with $5 gigabit nic pcie, but considering the time we are now, gigabit should always a standard. 2a. Mostly only support gen2 (sandy bridge processors) now if you get one with Ivy bridge support, good for you, but just in case you get the older version of these boards, then good luck finding a proper BIOS update for non branded board you buy, because it's non existent. 2b. if you are stuck with Older bios, then you also stuck with older GPU, since most of the time if you are using GPU with UEFI (GTX 750Ti for example) you will stuck at boot logo (if there's any), this problem fixable if the bios had legacy option FORCE enabled, but if it's not then again, you stuck with it. 3. Bad placement of sata ports and various IO. if you are using long GPU it will cover 2 sata ports below pcie x16 slot. I've wasted $150 for shipping back and forth to fix these unfixable problems, and I gave up, I went to buy Q67 boards from acer used parts instead, and it was better, it has sata3, USB3, and 6 ports of sata, and surprisingly intel NIC gigabit)

I was planning to get a 750ti for a LGA775 board but the UEFI issue is confusing me. Would I need to install a UEFI patch to the board (which could not exist)?
If you need a BIOS file for these boards with identical layout to the one in this video (probably not working for the other variants they sell now), I can use my EEPROM programmer to read out the BIOS chip on mine. The BIOS is dated mid 2017 IIRC and an Ivy Bridge Core i3 3220 ran on it no problem, same for a GTX960.

Might get this. The 1155 mobo in my server is clunky. If it moves in the case for any reason, and the system is on, something shorts and the computer reboots.
With the right MOBO a non K i5 or i7 should overclock to what the boost speed is. Sometimes you can get 200Mhz above turbo boost. In the past i got an i5-3330(stock 3.0Ghz and 3.2Ghz Boost) running at 3.4Ghz on all cores using a MOBO with Z77 chipset.

OEM cases .... just a few from the top of my head. PS: every single ebay auction advertises USB 3.0 on these h61 boards but to this day I've never even seen one with the chip + pin header locations populated. All I've ordered lacked it
volt reg's seems to be the common item noted about these cheap china boards when referring to overclocking not being a good idea. Sometimes I think reviewers tend to assume such things and don't bother actually seeing how long it would last under such conditions. My thought is, try it, if it burns out the board in a year, few months, couple weeks, then that is still very useful data.
No point in trying on a H61 board that doesn't allow for any overclocking other than baseclock (which won't get you far and will OC the RAM and PCIe bus at the same time, making things go unstable really quickly)
This is suprisingly modern for this channel. Having said that these boards would be a good basis for a high end Windows XP retro machine. I might do something similar at some point. I have a Radeon HD7870 that should do the job for the graphics side of things.

It is a motherboard with a quality similar to the H61 of the video, but unfortunately this X58 does not work with 8X pci cards, so my RX 560 did not work. Also it is worth noting that it does not have an X58 chipset in fact, but the Tylersburg 5520, which does not make much difference because this is basically the same as the X58. I bought this version with 6 phase for about $ 90, which is a bit overpriced in my opinion. Would you recommend this board for an old HP rebuild? I have old 1 Gbe NICs so, the lack of 1 Gbe won't be an issue. It seems smaller than some of the M-ATX motherboards out there that are used.
Highend CPUs on socket 1155 (i7-2600k/2700k and i7-3770k mainly) are still worthwhile workhorses and (if overclocked) can *still* keep up with modern(-ish) intel CPUs of the 6th and 7th generation (as sad as that is, considering there are 7 years worth of progress between them... or rather lack of much progress)
These boards are terrible, just don't. No support, and bios are hokee. I also couldn't get turbo, fan speed, and would crash if i put pcie wifi card in it would crash. China has gigabyte, msi, and asus board for sale just 10 or so more dollars.
Agreed! I did a followup video, recommending to avoid them. Especially the 1156 boards, because those CPUs pull a lot more power and I had crashes. I could live with the 1155 board if it had working Turbo, but the lack of Turbo is leaving performance on the table. Yea you can get a brand name, but used, H61 board for under USD 40 shipped from AliExpress.

Look around for Dell Latitude C600/C800 (P3 coppermine class) or C610/C810 (P3 tualatin). The former come with ATI Rage mobility graphics, the latter two with either Geforce 2 Go or Mobility Radeon 7000, all of them with dedicated video memory. The 810's can also have high-res screen options too (1600x1200 on 15" or 1400x1050 on 14.1") If you need spare parts like keyboards, displays, coolers etc., you can also scavenge the consumer versions of these, called the Inspiron 4000/8000 and 4100/8100 respectively

compatibility with Xeon 1230 v2??
Funciona?
I don't know but I have an arktek h61 and turbo boost works, but the fans sadly don't work
Yea there are so many different versions of this board, so maybe you have a better revision :)
If possible dump the BIOS
Bro i have this motherbard,can i install 1650 super graphics card??plz reply
100Mbps Nic :(
It looks like the board is DTX.
DAMN. First time hearing this! Thanks for the tip, I wonder if there are dedicated cases for this form factor?
So I measured the board and it's 190mm wide and 170mm deep.
Bitfenix Prodigy (the ITX version, not the "M" for microATX), intertech E-M3 and E-M5 (rebadged under various names including ms-tech), Acer (XC-105, 115, 705, ...) and Packard Bell (iMedia series microtowers like s2885, s3720, s2185, ...) OEM cases .... just a few from the top of my head.
PS: every single ebay auction advertises USB 3.0 on these h61 boards but to this day I've never even seen one with the chip + pin header locations populated. All I've ordered lacked it
Sweet, I shall look into it!
Hmm... Not 100% sure, but I think that Acer uses this form factor for their slim desktop computers, generally paired with a TFX power supply.
To make work this mainboard correctly, is necesary conect the atx 4pin for the power supply o just with the 24pin is enought?
i5-2500k still strong :P
You'd better check it after months. Most problems of this cheap board is it can't last long time.
It's a "DTX" size board, will fit many ITX cases which have the two (or three) slots on the back panel.
Sleep test pls if ok you have a good china motherboard... *gacha item
Wondering of its CPU compatibility with say, a Xeon CPU.
volt reg's seems to be the common item noted about these cheap china boards when referring to overclocking not being a good idea. Sometimes I think reviewers tend to assume such things and don't bother actually seeing how long it would last under such conditions. My thought is, try it, if it burns out the board in a year, few months, couple weeks, then that is still very useful data.
No point in trying on a H61 board that doesn't allow for any overclocking other than baseclock
(which won't get you far and will OC the RAM and PCIe bus at the same time, making things go unstable really quickly)
Great video Phil.... Please measure the heat on these things... Tech Yes did a vid on the Huanan boards and those get dangerously hot.
Good point! I love Brian's videos :D I shall look into VRM temps in future videos, stay tuned.
Awesome! Seen you in the comment section on one of his vids... xD
This is suprisingly modern for this channel. Having said that these boards would be a good basis for a high end Windows XP retro machine. I might do something similar at some point. I have a Radeon HD7870 that should do the job for the graphics side of things.
Can I use the i5 3570s with this motherboard
Necesito instalar disco nvme 2.0 y que inicie el sistema operativo en esta placa(la de este video) con un adaptador, pero no logro hacer que inicie desde alli, Si alguién lo logró espero su ayuda. gracias.
I’ve bought one of these, it would boot and then freeze 1-2 mins later, I changed boards and everything works fine, you get for what u pay for, I returned this china junk
Same problem here
What's gpu you insert on your motherboard?
The price for ram these days is just awful. As for the mobo all black is fine by me as it would work with all builds I like to do and in regards for pricing really good for a new board. Now I looked quickly at the site and didn't see anything about shipping. Is it free?
Yea the shipping is free on most of their items.
I wonder how this will compare to core 2 quard at same clocks
I have the same mobo but under differrent brand name "Enigma" and i want to update the bios but i don't know where to find the firmware , any ideas ?
There are no BIOS updates I'm afraid.
I bought a similar X58 a few days ago.
Nice! Please let us know how you go.
I have not tested if it is possible to overclock (running with Xeon E5520)

La motherboard viene con micro y ram no mas ?, o trae aparte algo mas?
Great surprise
Where do you get drivers for this?
I have this mobo, even i don't know where are the drivers
I bought the same motherboard and would like to know if you have a website where I can download the installation drivers for it?
Gotta say now that I got about the same system for under 70€ as I already had the I7 that it makes a perfect living room pc for different usesm
Does anyone have the manual for the board?
Would you recommend this board for an old HP rebuild? I have old 1 Gbe NICs so, the lack of 1 Gbe won't be an issue. It seems smaller than some of the M-ATX motherboards out there that are used.
No I wouldn't! IMO you're better off getting a second hand Asus or Gigabyte for similar money.
Can this setup be updated to windows 11?
Is this board have a uefi support
Schematic this motherboard please
hello could you guide me for the front panel cable? i dont have the manual and i dont know how to plugin the front panel cables. Thanks.
Just trial and error!
No chance for bios update to uefi?
What kind of psu did you use?
xeon x1230v2 is compatible with this motherboard?
xeon x1230v2 é compatível com essa placa mãe?
xeon e3 1240 v2 100% compatible
I still want to buy the Xeon 1230 v2
works?
wonder if it can last long.
Why socket 1155 is so much beloved? It has something special on it
Highend CPUs on socket 1155 (i7-2600k/2700k and i7-3770k mainly) are still worthwhile workhorses and (if overclocked) can *still* keep up with modern(-ish) intel CPUs of the 6th and 7th generation (as sad as that is, considering there are 7 years worth of progress between them... or rather lack of much progress)
Hey Phil, I wonder if you also make retro laptop reviews?
I still got an old IBM Thinkpad T21 with a Savage 8 MB graphics chip and a Cirrus Logic CS4624, which is quite Dos compatible but lacks power for newer games. I would like to get another laptop with a faster graphics chip, and of course, with Dos compatible sound, so any review would be awesome:)
No I don't! 8-Bit Guy is a great channel for that.
The 810's can also have high-res screen options too (1600x1200 on 15" or 1400x1050 on 14.1")
If you need spare parts like keyboards, displays, coolers etc., you can also scavenge the consumer versions of these, called the Inspiron 4000/8000 and 4100/8100 respectively
I have almost an equivalent board in my livingroom pc. It has actually worked quite well.
I'm using an i5 3470 in it, with a gtx 745.
how in games for example pubg lite how many fps
@@mhd6251 Its a good board. Chuck an i7 2600 in it and it runs perfectly on modern games
With this chipset, you can also go to a Xeon E3-1270 as an exemple, they are cheap and powerful
Hmm I had a look, I wouldn't call them cheap...
ok so let's just call them good value for money then
I'll take that setup. It's better then what I currently have.
Buy a 1333Mhz 4gb Ram Ddr3 memory with memory dissipated on a model ZX-H61CR406 1.4V motherboard when you install it does not give video
Is this B75-1155 Computer Mainboard Durable Motherboard CPU Interface LGA 1155 US the same or basically the same motherboard?
Since Intel can not keep up with the demand of H310 and CPUs in China, even FM2+ Motherboards with A68 Chipsets are sold everywhere at the moment, I'm not surprised that 1155 H61 Borards are available for purchase...
Gimme a X470 mini-DTX board with two full physical x16 slots (wired x16-x8) for the full single-slot Vega crossfire setup with waterblocks.
Mini-DTX needs to be more popular.
Thanks for this, I was looking for a motherboard to resurrect an old 2500k in 2022. I think this might work well. Appreciate it.
I put an i7 on that card it didn't run, where do I update the bios on it to use my i7 3770?
Someone could tell me how are they called, those benchs where is mounted all the pc itself?
Google for HIGH SPEED PC!
PhilsComputerLab thanks Phil, really interesting videos, keep on
I am going to buy one of these but I look at it online and the motherboard I am looking at has no video port on the board so I am thinking is it p67 (edit)-it says p67 on the details but it only has 4 pin. So let me know if anyone knows anything.
Nice! It would be interesting to see how it compares to the to NOS from ASRock or used boards... Also as a Windows XP / 7 dual boot gaming machine. I will be looking forward for more content!
I'm not sure which Asrock NOS you're referring to, but there are used 1155 boards on AliExpress. You get boards from Asus or Gigabyte, but they are priced about the same, or higher for the better boards.
@@philscomputerlab damn I was sure some boards were left 😂 I will now need to search for one of these or a used one like you say.
I would love to see how this performs with Windows XP installed and paired with a high end GPU.
Total overkill of course :)
Hey I have a similar board scan you tell or send me the front panel connection order
I'm not sure, it's been a while. Just use trial and error, or use default Asus / GB layout!
PhilsComputerLab ok thanks
Got this mobo for fixing an old computer I have at home, but I can't get the drivers, does anybody have them?
It does not support boost clock ! Can you make a comparaison video with an MSI H61 mobo ? Please !!
New subscriber, Can I ask where you got the test bench from?
Search for HighSpeed PC.
Thank you
CAN you change de speed fan on thé bios ?
I can't remember, if it's not mentioned in the video, then I don't know.
What is the model of the cooling fan? For that motherboard
Can i ask how to make it dual channeling. I got problem at mine. The DIMM 1 has no response
can i run mafia 3 on low setting with i5 2400s and gt 1030 and 8 gb ram on same motherboard?
I put an i7 3770 on this card and did not give a video, could it be bios? Have bios update for this card?
What fan cooler it compatible with this motherboard using a intel celaron i7?
do you now if it'll take 32gb ram?
Hmm I doubt it. You'd have to have 2x 16GB modules, do they even exist?
They do, but only as server RAM. General rule of thumb for almost anything consumer-grade with DDR3 is "8GB per RAM slot" as the maximum.
I have this mb, the input pci 3.0 is 8X, is it possible to change to 16x in bios?
Where can i download sound card update for this mobo i cant find where bios update and drivers
Hello, on ebay they say its micro atx but i think its not so what the size of it? (=
Tell me please. What gpu is suitable for that motherboard
I think Gateway used dtx mobos in some of their small desktops.
Can i get a link for a Bios update ? (For this board pls)
