Drying the beam lol. We just got told to get on with it back in 2008 and that they didn't want to hear anyone complaining about blisters on the bottom field either 😆😆. Still passed. 👍🏻
All that's required is that you attend, having done your homework prior (we were told to learn Corps history, weapon systems, VC's, ethos, bits about Cdo units etc.), knowing you can meet the minimum requirements, obviously aiming for best effort as THAT'S what you're assessed on provided you meet above minimum requirements. Listen. Do exactly as you're told. Don't be late. And do not give up on anything - which goes back to doing as you're told, and you'll pass. People forget, its a job interview over a period of days and if you cut corners prior to the PRMC then it catches you out when they are there. Saw this happen to a handful of lads from day one. They wasted their time and everyone elses for that matter.
I was amazed by lads who turned up for the course _knowing_ they couldn't even do the 3 miler in under 22mins, which back then was an automatic course fail as it was the very first physical test, provided the Cpl's hadn't already put the entire course in stress positions the night before because someone couldn't keep their mouth shut when told to be quiet and stand still. If it happens to you because someone else couldn't use their brain properly to follow instructions then just crack on.
Oh and our showers were ice cold the entire time we were there. Training team didn't realise until end after one of them went to use them at the end of the hallway where the heads are. When they quizzed us as to why we didn't say anything, we collectively just said "we thought it was part of the course and got through it as quickly as possible". Cpl laughed and said "so that explains why not a single person was late in the morning then!"
Overall, the course itself is all common sense, but you'll find some people just don't have it(!).
Good luck to anyone who is attempting it these days. Hope you've been training smart and training hard for it.
this gives really good insight cheers mate
I failed on this in October, could do the pull ups but was not ready for how sweaty and sloppy the bar was so was told to come off. The pti tells you to wipe your hands on the floor to dry them off. Doesn’t really do much but hands were already sweaty and had to come off not from not being able to do the work but due to the sweaty bar. Word of advice, train pull ups on a wet bar as will also help grip strength
You should practise this at home before you get there, surely.
I'm 61 and can do 20 dead hang, these guys look like they have weak core strength which is the fundamental of pull ups.
