I bought this controller when it first came out last year and I love everything about it! For someone starting out, all the "gimicky" features are incredibly useful tools that allow you to quickly master the controller and learn to DJ right from the offset. Watching this video makes me realise that I definitely made the right choice, thank you for doing this video, it's much appreciated xxx

Actually your review is one of the reasons I decided to take it over the numark platinum fx!
My main issue is the platters. Imo they suck. At least the one I had isn't very precise or accurate. They didn't spin back all the time. I'd be moving the platter and it's moving slowly or not at all. I mean to say, the platters move, but it's not on the screen.
And I agree the idea of the "gimmicky" beat matching systems this thing uses is pretty cool but I figure if you have platters with the tempo read out and cue guide in the platters then there's really no need for the beat match guide system.
I don't see what the hurcukese InPULSE 500 has that the numark platnium fx can't do. Again having the tempo readout and cue point light built into the platters totally negate the need for the beat match guide (almost).
The thing is, if you wanted to "beat juggle" you won't need to look at the screen onnthe platnium fx but you will need to on the 500. So you end up looking at the screen anyways.
The beat match guide system on the 500 would make sence if you had at least a cue point guide on the platters so younonly really need to look up to change songs.

I didn't like the length of the pitch, and the effects section was horrible. Almost a good controller, I really liked the platters. I returned it

I think that their next dj controller (Inpulse 600 idk) would be great if it has lighter spin back (on their current dj controller there is no really good spin back), bigger jogs with professional outputs and 4 decks with the same design but additional fx knob and CFX

Believe it or not, your opinion does matter. That's why we're on this channel.
If you didn't know. Hercules was responsible for producing the very first dj controllers. At least that's according to them and Wikipedia. Explains why they are pretty decent.
I have this controller and it is an absolute beast !!! Nevertheless, I would have liked to have a more powerful master output and I would have appreciated a dedicated effect section not linked with the filter knob... If you want this controller just go and buy one you wont regret it!!!
in Serato you can rebind the Mic or Mic filter to normal filter so you can have FX + filter. In Djuced, you can have FX on pads + filters on knobs
This was the first controller I bought when I started out and it was really cool I like every part of it and now I own a full set of denon sc600’s and x1850 mixer but the only reason I have that is because after playing with the 500 I knew I really wanted to be a dj so I do recommend this as a great beginner controller !

I bought this controller and I honestly believe that this is the best controller for any beginner dj period! I have the Pioneer DDJ Sb3 and The Hercules Inpulse 500 but this controller beats the Pioneer DDJ SB3 for so many reasons like the lack of outputs the sb gives you which is not an issue with the Hercules impulse 500,The Hercules has led/color pads for $300 which is not seen on the SB,The Hercules mic output is a much better sound than the SB3 giving you more power and volume, The Hercules Inpulse 500 gives you an aux output and a separate mic output with eq! Pioneer should takes notes lol.In my opinion for anyone starting buy the Hercules Inpulse 500 and not the Pioneer DDJ Sb3 even tho the Hercules inpusle is $50 more your getting a lot more and you won't be as happy with the Sb3 than the Hercules inpusle 500.

Does anyone else has problems with the effect section? Whenever I activate the effect on deck 1 it also activates deck 2 as well or vice versa Even though neither decks are set to master. When I go to transition from deck 1 to 2 the effect was also activated on the deck 2. Any work around??
there is a subject about this on Hercules blog, it's only a setting in the software to change.
If they add the jog vision platters and use paddles for the sound effects this would be the best controller on the market.

I bought this controller November 2020 and I run it through a Behringer external mixer and powered Yamaha speakers, I have no problem filling a big room with loud, high quality sound. Love the controller and I might just buy another for my mobile setup

Why not review it with its own software? Its made for djuced, there are features that are only usuable with djuced, and serato lite is an absolute joke that not all of us want to pay to upgrade

I started with Hercules and you're right, for the money, there probably isn't better.
Better than an entry level pioneer. Similar to a Numark Mixtrack.
I have a Numark NV now. Which is the dogs... And a back up Reloop beat mix which also fantastic

It's usually called White noise riser, the opposite is whitenoise downshifter, or a sweep that goes up and down/down and up.

On the latest virtual dj update, this effect is called Noise. Turn The filter button on the inpulse 500 to the left to downshift it, turn right to right shift it.
I haven't got avx on my laptop..can i still use the inpulse 500??
In Serato you can rebind for exemple the Microphone knob as a normal filter so you can have normal filter + FX at same time, so not a problem anymore

Anyone having built in hum issues? I’ve had 2 now and it makes a humming sound. It didn’t like going into a yamaha mixer, and it doesn’t like being connected to a usb hub, or having the hub connected to the computer if connected directly to the computer.
with dj uced you get the best performance of this machine, Serato has some limitation in terms of pad response and master volume output, it sounds lower in Serato than in djuced and the pads have better response, also in terms of effects, djuced allows the knob to control the effect added to the filter, I think it could have been a more accurate fix using its native software it was designed for

I was really excited for the inpulse 500, until it’s just another controller meant to mainly be DJUCED with Serato just being an option only to market it for bigger audiences. It only looks good on the outside but until Hercules can make their controllers more universal like the more expensive JOGVISION (having a better side for Serato controls), I am moving on to NI, Pioneer or Numark. Hercules is just pushing their DJUCED software to be nothing more than a subpar copy of Pioneer RekordBox
And yet, I've been on the InPulse 200 for the past year and absolutely loved DJUCED. After years of using Traktor, it's lightweight and actually really powerful.

At this point no controller should not have stand alone features usb or hard along with the computer
Since the effects take away the filter could you use the EQ knobs instead?

Just remap the FX via midi ... no prob -- for this price -- a great backup unit

How do you go to the root menu on the controller. In file mode, I have folders in folders to get to my files but can’t figure out how to get back to the root folder without using a mouse.
do you mean to go to the menu to say, select beatsource or finder etc?
if recommending to upgrade for serato pro, for that price point going then for the mixars primo instead which has serato pro included and is also the better controller in every single aspect would be the better recommendation

I got myself 2 LTA turntables and a mixars duo. Paid 300 for the mixer and 270 for each turntable. 840 € for gear that retailed for over 2000 € on its release^^

It needs the JOGVISION jogwheels..
Any controller that is usb powered will not have a loud audio output,that’s the trade off with the 500, would make sense to use an external line mixer that has louder pre amps.
I always suggest someone with a controller like this use a DI box for their output.
@@matthewbohn765 yes you can do that which would give you balance out puts but you still need a preamplifier in the line to boost the signal, less work for the amps
@@SinclearGriffithDJSINRG I should have specified a powered DI box. I personally use a Rolls MB15b. I’ve never gone more than 40% of the gain on it. The biggest issue with lower end controllers like this is just poor sound cards putting out poor quality audio.

On some controllers, if you press two buttons at the same time, they both turn on. If you assign one of the FX slots as a LPF/HPF (which you can in Serato), would you be able to press the two buttons at the same time? That way you can filter AND use FX?
Please test this. It'd be amazing if this was a work around.
Nice!!. I'm actually looking to buy my first controller after just using Virtual DJ at parties for so long, and I was torn between the Pionner DJ DDJ 400, the Pioneer DJ DDJ SB3 and the Inpulse 500 from Hercules. This review definitely cemented my choice ! Cant wait to get my hands on this one !!!

1) a rigid case, as
- UDG Ultimate Pick Foam Flight Case Multi-Format XL,
- Magma Carry Lite DJ-Case XL Plus,
2) a semi rigid eva case, as
UDG Creator Hardcase Large Black Mk2,
Thomann Flyht Pro HSC Hard Shell Case
which work OK with Inpulse 500.
3) a cover:
Decksaver has released its Decksaver LE for DJControl Inpulse 500.
I bought a DDJ SR2 case and it was a couple cm to big at 1st but with the included foam they send with the case it fits like a dream.

When i try to record from aux input with microphones there is a delay as expected. The installed asio drivers that came with the product cannot decrease the latency even if minimum latency selected. I dowloaded asio 4 all so i can reduce latency but nothing really changes, it seems that asio 4 all panel does not affect the latency even when minimums selected...Does this item support any asio drivers that can help with latency reduction?

I have been trying to get this question answered for a week now. I'm use to a Monitor for mixing. Is there anyway this controller will hookup to my monitor and is there a knob on the controller to adjust the volume? My DDJ-1000srt is too big to bring to one of my small gigs.

DJ Barr, U R right on point with UR accessibility of this controller. Sometimes when U have a vinyl track downloaded from UR computer the up & down tempo faders do not respond. With or without the little speed up & speed down arrows. The controller works best with non-vinyl music(digital).

I actually use this controller and I love it. It works great for me and my setup. I will agree with the FX portion with this controller but I have gotten use to it for sure. Keep up the good work bro.

Bought it last week as my first controller and maaan the fx implementation is such a buzzkill that I'm thinking of returning it. Everything else is top notch. It baffles me, rly. It could have been the best in it's price category if it wasn't for fx. Looks like I'm gonna have to go with dj400 instead :(

it's incredible to say, even for me, but Inpulse 500 is way better than the DDJ400 and the quality is higher too. At higher Price, i would stick to Pioneer but not under 300 bucks coz Hercules hit hard with this one...

I just bought the FLX 6 and I love it. Only issue is it only has RCA’s on the back so you need an external mixer to run into your speakers.
Depends, this controller outputs are RCA, more for home speakers & home use vs Rane 1, outputs are XLR. Also depends on budget. Peace out
If you have the money go with the Rane... If not get the Hercules... The pioneer is overpriced and is a beginner mixer with a lot of short comings
