This isn't about getting in the most damage though, it's about showing various places it can be used, for the average player. SoB is there because I love the fight and wanted to get used to the Dash length. And this fight is a good way of showing off that. If the goal was to kill the sisters quickly I would use spells.
@@MadameRhapsody I'm just saying that at a high level of play, sharp shadow is generally not a good charm to use. For the average player, it's not bad. Anyone who says it does no damage and has no other argument is probably parroting what they heard from some other player.
The only reason I don’t use sharp shadow in combat is the extra dash length making me confused, since you only get the extra length when you shadow dash.
Another amazing addition to the playlist! I'll have to try this on Trator Lord and Maybe Grey Prince. I'd like to see Glowing Womb at some point. My brother is particularly stingy about things that take Soul other than healing in this game because, his own words, "I need that to heal", but I find Glowing Womb particularly unimpressive in Godseeker, because Grimchild does about as much damage for no Soul cost. But, seeing you utilize it may give me some tips for "Can You Beat Pantheon 5 Without Attacking?"
The big problem with Glowing womb is that the damage doesn't scale. Charms like Dreamshield or sharp shadow are still relevant because each time you get a nail upgrade, you also upgraded those charms, but Glowing Womb is 9 damage no matter what, which is nearly twice as much as your old nail, but less than twice as much as the pure nail...
SOUL EATER IS USELESS. IT TAKES 4 NOTCHES. In reality soul eater is one of the best charms that allows tou to spam really high damage spells such as abyss shreik and even completely skip the first phase of radiance before she gets to use any attack or spam ddark in her 4th phase to dodge attacks and deal really good damage while doing so or ending the third phase before it starts with 2 abyss shreiks
I think the first fight doesn’t really prove that sharp shadow is good. In total 16 hits with it landed, equaling 16 nail swings. Pretty good at face value. However, 6 of which were against the single mantis, so they were basically just because, not really making it easier because the lone mantis is pretty easy. And even so, several of those 6 could be replaced by just pogo-ing rather than dashing through. That leaves 10 swings at the cost of 4 charm notches. I’d already say that’s probably not worth it, but even so a few of those 10 could also probably be replaced by just stand still with a slight dodge then nail swings rather than dashing through. That’s not terrible and you do get some use, but 4 charm notches for maybe 5-7 useful (not easily replaceable by nail swings) hits doesn’t seem worth it to me. This doesn’t even account for the drawback that you have to either a) practice with the longer dash if you don’t normally use those charms or b) are stuck normally using those charms in situations where it’s not at all helpful/very slightly helpful. Just my opinion, so feel free to disagree. Also I’m not saying there isn’t times where it’s really useful. The watcher knights fight sees much more practical use for the charms. However, I just don’t understand how the first fight really supports the point of sharp shadow + dash master being good. Also I love sharp shadow, it’s one of my favorite charms, but I don’t think it’s that good. At least not in that situation.
Finally some love for this charm. I used it through like my entire playthrough including p5. If you use it right, you can be getting like at least 25% more damage on single targets
Sharp Shadow has a higher skill ceiling than you might think, since instead of dashing through a boss when they do a type of dash attack, you can dash with the boss and end up in a better position afterwards while maybe even double hitting with Sharp Shadow, although it is pretty hard to do consistently when you dash horizontally.
I really like the idea behind the charm bud didn't like how it was implemented I tried to use it against pure vessel but whenever the boss staggered I took damage, against normal enemies it's fine but against bosses with large hitboxes or pv I just took too much damage for it to be worth it
The only mod I am using (if I use mods, which is rare), is the Quality of Life mod. I use it here because Dash Master doesn't behave the same way as on the latest version of the game. QoL fixes that. I needed to make sure that people playing on the newest version would get the same effect.
My issue is that for two notches you could use longnail, steady body nail masters glory, spell twister, etc. which all add more damage than sharp shadow does (longnail excluded but its nice for safety). However I think the extra dash length is the main benefit, because while it is unoptimized in terms of damage (quite significantly so, for 4 notches you get one hit every two seconds) the dash length helps a lot for safety. Watcher knights, oro and mato, etc. are all much easier to dash through cleanly. I still think its more of a crutch but it definitely does have situational use, and it feels super cool to use
For 4 Notches you can get those charms yes, but we all have different playstyles. If you don't use Nail Arts then Glory is useless, if you don't use Spells Spell Twister is useless, and if you only use Spells then Steady Body becomes useless. No charm is always good or bad, they are all situational. My hope is that these videos appeal to different playstyles, while encouraging others to experiment.
I would use sharp shadow a lot if the dash length stayed the same. I'm used to the normal length and it just completely throws me off and I get hit a lot more. Same with steady body. I know that they're great charms but I just find it much harder when I use them.
@@chickennugget6684 Doesnt the extra dash distance only bug us during platforming? Why does everyone talk about it as such a big downfall? You can go through bigger enemies with the extra dash distance or be at a safer distance away from the boss. ( you are literally more invincible with this charm) I love sharpshadow and its usually on my builds unless im doing something specific like queens garden platforming
@@akashbalakrishnan8769 My muscle memory depends on dashes being the normal length. Them being longer feels really unnatural and throws me off, and it doesn't help that most bosses are designed with the normal length in mind.
I threw this on as soon as I got it and can barely function every time I gotta take it off for a fight. I’ll dash through an enemy and be like “where’s the damage???”
Description says "it also lets you dash more often" and I'd like to clarify that neither sharp shadow, dash master, or the combination of the two let you shadecloak dash more often. Dash master lets you mothwing dash more often, but does not affect shadecloak dashing's cooldown, and in the same vein sharp shadow does not extend normal dashing distance.
@@_lumos4029 i used your same build. I dropped shaman stone but im mostly a nail build anyway. Shaman stone for me is for the occassional spell…depends on what I’m fighting i guess. PV i drop shaman for dashmaster in a second
My preferred way of playing revolves around this combination and Nailmaster's Glory. With nail arts, you already have more than enough range, so you just need to find the opportunity to use them safely. Sharp shadow provides you with just that! The increase dash length allows you to avoid enemy attacks reliably and retaliate with a nail art in relative safety. With Dashmaster, it is possible to deal 4x nail damage in a single dash + nail art combo, more if you could sneak in a hit or two with your nail. It's a very fun build that is extremely rewarding to play with. Since you don't need much notch for Nailmaster's Glory and Sharp Shadow, this is build is also quite flexible.
Sharp shadow is one of my most used charms, and I rely on it as part of my strategy for just about any boss that dashes towards me, particularly since I find it way easier to dash through a dash/charging attack than to jump over it (Hornet, THK, Soul Warrior, etc all come to mind; as an added bonus, it shortens the Traitor Lord fight, which is essentially made for Sharp Shadow.) Literally fulfills a wish I had in Hornet 2 fight that I could dash through attacks, and hopefully do damage, and then I found shade cloak and sharp shadow. Love Sharp shadow, and considering it does 1x nail strike, that's about what you'd be getting or more for most enemy dash attacks, depending on whether you jump-downslash or shadow dash thru them. So anecdotally, I love Sharp Shadow and it's a regular part of my kit. It's basically always useful for me, so I basically always have it on, unless I'm facing a particular boss where I'm not dashing through an attack. Plus, the increased dash distance can be useful for some dodges or overworld platforming.
i like sharp shadow in certain situations but let me just point out: #1 Sisters of Battle shade cloaks used w/o doing dmg - 14 #2 i actually don't see the ss dmg during bats when you're fighting NKG. Either you're swinging at the exact same moment, or you're just not reaching him, which you should be able to jump dash over the bats into range anyways w/o needing the sharp shadow range. If i were to fix the charm, i'd say when using dashmaster + sharp shadow, it lowers the shade cloak cd by 20%, changing its cd from 1.5s to 1.2. Most synergies give more than just a dmg boost (spell size, duration, efficiency).
For everyone interested, based on my calculations: Sisters of Battle 15 x 32 = 480 out of 3450 (600+3x950) Watcher Knights 43 x 32 = 1376 out of 3600 (6x600) GN Sly 18 x 32 = 576 out of 1800 (1200+600) NKG 17 x 32 = 544 out of 1650 Pure Vessel 8 x 32 = 256 out of 1850 Actively used, Sharp Shadow with Dasmaster can make out up to one third of all damage dealt.
Given by the velocity of the knight threw propulsion of the dash, the knight reaches 10.2x the speed of his stable speed all though the speed difference between bosses is extreme, we can calculate that a knight dashing at 10.2x speed of his dash factoring the momentum of dashmaster making him go to around 15x his average speed, along with the additions of his mandibles which through science we can learn are very hard, S H A R P, and are solid enough to puncture through the chitin of a fellow bug (the chitin of which is hard and will break so therefor stabbing attacks would always work best against bugs, showing why many have stingers and or sharp mandibles, etc). Sharp shadow is one of those charms that, if i have the space to put it on, i will once i have my essentials. I have beaten multiple bosses only using sharp shadow and later: Sharp shadow + Weaverlings + Grimmchild (looking at you Hornet Sentinel & Traitor lord)
Sharp shadow is a great utility charm. I think a lot of people hate it because they think of it as a purely offensive charm, when it really is only used like that for weak enemies that die to one nail swing. I see it as a dash utility charm that happens to do damage that when used correctly, can help supplement damage to bosses and make the fights a little shorter. Also getting the final hit on a boss with a sharp dash feels so good.
as a certified sharpshadow user isn't one of it's main benefits the distance, I swear it was the only reason I thought nkg was easy and people were severely overhyping it
I personally love sharp shadow. It makes pure vessel much easier because you don't need any sort of timing to dash through his knife throw attack because of the extra distance and you can always punish it with like 4 hits. I do sorts hate when you down a boss with it though, because you'll often be stopped and take contact damage.
I have been using sharp shadow off and on for quite a while but I had no idea it stacked with dashmaster like that, I will definitely be using it more often now lol
I found PV a lot easier when my inputs were only left, right, nail, dash, heal. I never had to look at the Ghost to know when shade cloak was up, you just know by heart after a couple tries. And you don't risk staggering PV at the wrong time once you learn it always staggers with 12 hits. Yes you should probably jump over his void tendrils but it's waaay easier to just tank them if you're not in radiant mode
But you’re using 4 slots. You could use something like heart or long nail this way you don’t take double damage with a basic nail build. And if you are confident that you aren’t gonna get hit just use fury of the fallen for that extra damage boost (obviously that doesn’t work on radiant)
I keep hearing that Sharp shadow was useless and I hesitantly took it off and I couldn't beat pure vessel because of it and I wasent used to the distance, when I put it back on I preformed so much better. Idk why people say its useless when charms exist to compliment playstyle and not skill overall, (I did get rid of my thorns of agony to get more invincibility frames and not get hit again
Sharp shadow isn't useless, but it simply doesnt provide much value, even paired with dash master. Plus, it also has this massive tendency to screw over anyone who's used to standard dash distance, cause now you basically have 2 different length dashes that you have to keep track of, since shade dash is sometimes just used as a normal dash by players, whether for travel or for closing distances in bossfights. By using it(with dash master), you potentially lose out on stuff like Mark of Pride, Shaman, Strength or Quickslash, all of which are more or less straight damage buffs to the normal gameplay most players are used to, and in return only gaining a 1.5x nail hit assuming that you dash through the boss, which in itself is very situational and isn't something you can do often given shade cloak's significant cooldown. As for the dash cooldown reduction itself from dashmaster, sure, it's pretty ok, but dash cooldown is already quite low and as far as I can tell, there's very few situations in which the dash cooldown reduction would actually help since you really aren't going to be spamming dashes all that much outside travel.
This charm was so usefull on my first time fighting traitor lord, but I don't really like the increase of the length of the dash. I would like to see a video on fury of the fallen, it's one of the best charms on the game and allows you to kill some bosses without even giving them the chance to hit you, but people don't use it because it's too dangerous.
I use Sharp Shadow since I got for the first time I played the game and I can't play without it lol! Every charm is useful, we just need to learn how to use it
Sharp Shadow is pretty good for Sly's 1st phase, but it makes the dash too far for the 2nd phase where you only need to move a lil bit to dodge Buzzsaw Sly.

I might use it in some other videos as well, some charms are not so easy to showcase by themselves.
Good luck to your brother when he's doing radiant bossfights then.
I use Sharp Shadow because it's the only charm actually has void in it, excluding void heart as it doesn't help much but unlock endings
This was my one of my fav charms on the first playthrough. Remember making quick work of Traitor Lord with it.
Indeed one of my favorite charms
I am speed
True, this fight one is more for the Dash Length, since this arena is small with spikes at the end.
Finally some love for this charm. I used it through like my entire playthrough including p5. If you use it right, you can be getting like at least 25% more damage on single targets
People who say sharp shadow does no damage clearly haven't been hit by sharp shadow
I personally do not want to get hit by Sharp Shadow. Looks painful.
Could you do the “Glowing Womb” charm. It’s one of my favorites and I think its pretty under rated.
I really like the idea behind the charm bud didn't like how it was implemented I tried to use it against pure vessel but whenever the boss staggered I took damage, against normal enemies it's fine but against bosses with large hitboxes or pv I just took too much damage for it to be worth it
since the moment I got the Sharp Shade I never unequipped
can someone help me out : if i play just stock game with no mods, is this still as good as in the vid?
i don't want to touch mods
The only mod I am using (if I use mods, which is rare), is the Quality of Life mod. I use it here because Dash Master doesn't behave the same way as on the latest version of the game. QoL fixes that. I needed to make sure that people playing on the newest version would get the same effect.
@@MadameRhapsody thanks that clears it
My issue is that for two notches you could use longnail, steady body nail masters glory, spell twister, etc. which all add more damage than sharp shadow does (longnail excluded but its nice for safety).
@@MadameRhapsody yeah it really comes down to individual playstyle.
I would use sharp shadow a lot if the dash length stayed the same. I'm used to the normal length and it just completely throws me off and I get hit a lot more. Same with steady body. I know that they're great charms but I just find it much harder when I use them.
sharp shadow’s increased dash distance is the biggest double-edged sword a charm will ever have.
One of the only consistent parts of my load out 10/10 best charm.10/10 perfect video.
i'd like to suggest you to do dream shield next :D
I threw this on as soon as I got it and can barely function every time I gotta take it off for a fight. I’ll dash through an enemy and be like “where’s the damage???”
Description says "it also lets you dash more often" and I'd like to clarify that neither sharp shadow, dash master, or the combination of the two let you shadecloak dash more often. Dash master lets you mothwing dash more often, but does not affect shadecloak dashing's cooldown, and in the same vein sharp shadow does not extend normal dashing distance.
True. I usually assume people are able to understand that when I talk about Dashmaster and I say Dash I mean the normal dash, and not the shadow dash.
while i really enjoyed this charm i've prioritized steady body. i wish i could have both without overcharming
If only we had 12 Notches.
That’s 3 slots so you can
@@sumcallmejesus Yes but strength, quick slash and shaman stone are all way better in literally every way
@@_lumos4029 i used your same build.
It really is. With the exception of Sly Phase 2 I tried avoiding using Nail Arts, as the Charm is supposed to do most of the work here.
I love how to bowed to the bosses after clapping them
Got to be respectful to your enemies.
@@MadameRhapsody 💯
Wow, I never thought of using sharp shadow against sly. Really interesting.
Longer shade cloak is all i wanted but the
1x nail damage makes that charm too good
Why everyone is jumping from the side in sides to middle to sides attack? Iirc you can stay in the middle safely
can you make a video on thorns lmao
I want to see how good it will become in your videos
Sharp shadow was really useful for traitor lord. I kept dashing into it to dodge it’s attacks.
Sharp shadow really helped me learn bosses in the pantheon at first. It really is a good charm.
The damage isn't it's main feature, it's the dash lemgth.
Can't fight without this Charm, incredibly saves my life
Okay now do this without wayward compass
Plus, the increased dash distance can be useful for some dodges or overworld platforming.
i like sharp shadow in certain situations but let me just point out:
#1 Sisters of Battle shade cloaks used w/o doing dmg - 14
#2 i actually don't see the ss dmg during bats when you're fighting NKG.
In my opinion this charm would be decent if it cost was 1 notch.Because it is just not worth one more nail hit and dashing better
For everyone interested, based on my calculations:
Sisters of Battle 15 x 32 = 480 out of 3450 (600+3x950)
Watcher Knights 43 x 32 = 1376 out of 3600 (6x600)
GN Sly 18 x 32 = 576 out of 1800 (1200+600)
NKG 17 x 32 = 544 out of 1650
Pure Vessel 8 x 32 = 256 out of 1850
Actively used, Sharp Shadow with Dasmaster can make out up to one third of all damage dealt.
Given by the velocity of the knight threw propulsion of the dash, the knight reaches 10.2x the speed of his stable speed
all though the speed difference between bosses is extreme, we can calculate that a knight dashing at 10.2x speed of his dash factoring the momentum of dashmaster making him go to around 15x his average speed, along with the additions of his mandibles which through science we can learn are very hard, S H A R P, and are solid enough to puncture through the chitin of a fellow bug (the chitin of which is hard and will break so therefor stabbing attacks would always work best against bugs, showing why many have stingers and or sharp mandibles, etc). We learn... that without sharp shadow, the dash given to us by the game, is in fact... S H A R P. therefor making sharpshadow U S E L E S S
This post is brought to you by Raid Shadow Legends
Nice one Glassy!
Yes but sharpshadow makes as an anime character and gives plot armor which means we become god.
@@paradoxsans8640 Plot Armour only works when the game wants it to. Merchant Armour is on par with Blanket Armour and thus superior.
Such a beautiful no hit dance with mantis lords
Sharp shadow is a great utility charm. I think a lot of people hate it because they think of it as a purely offensive charm, when it really is only used like that for weak enemies that die to one nail swing. I see it as a dash utility charm that happens to do damage that when used correctly, can help supplement damage to bosses and make the fights a little shorter.
Also getting the final hit on a boss with a sharp dash feels so good.
YOU get to deal the contact damage this way!
Sharp shadow saved my ass during the NKG fight, which is why im trying to remember where to get it so I can fight him in steel soul
as a certified sharpshadow user isn't one of it's main benefits the distance, I swear it was the only reason I thought nkg was easy and people were severely overhyping it
I personally love sharp shadow. It makes pure vessel much easier because you don't need any sort of timing to dash through his knife throw attack because of the extra distance and you can always punish it with like 4 hits. I do sorts hate when you down a boss with it though, because you'll often be stopped and take contact damage.
Sharp shadow is my second fav,not just because of damage it deals, but because of how much faster and further you dash with it.
I have been using sharp shadow off and on for quite a while but I had no idea it stacked with dashmaster like that, I will definitely be using it more often now lol
I basically need sharp shadow to get through Nailsage Sly’s final phase lol
The long dash distance is so hard to deal with tho sometimes. I think sharp shadow is really hit or miss. You either hate it or love it, no inbetween.
Sharp Shadow is one of my favourite charms!
Sometimes it just messes you up since you dash further
i couldn't beat traitor lord without this on my first playthrough
I found PV a lot easier when my inputs were only left, right, nail, dash, heal. I never had to look at the Ghost to know when shade cloak was up, you just know by heart after a couple tries. And you don't risk staggering PV at the wrong time once you learn it always staggers with 12 hits. Yes you should probably jump over his void tendrils but it's waaay easier to just tank them if you're not in radiant mode
now do a boss with only hurting them via shade dash
That watch Knight fight looks so much easier with sharp shadow
Sharp shadow might be useful, but i think it makes you focus your dash too much on offense, when it should be used for defense.
But you’re using 4 slots. You could use something like heart or long nail this way you don’t take double damage with a basic nail build. And if you are confident that you aren’t gonna get hit just use fury of the fallen for that extra damage boost (obviously that doesn’t work on radiant)
Different playstyles basically. I use Spells for PV for instance and not Sharp Shadow.
Uhm... Starting the video, already a mistake, sharp shadow does half a nail hit afaik
Alright, now do it with nail binding
Already have, it's my latest video.
It Also increases the range of The dash, its very good at the traitor lord bossfight
This charm was so usefull on my first time fighting traitor lord, but I don't really like the increase of the length of the dash. I would like to see a video on fury of the fallen, it's one of the best charms on the game and allows you to kill some bosses without even giving them the chance to hit you, but people don't use it because it's too dangerous.
because it only becomes useful when you are on 1 heart. It’s just not worth it when you could have something like mark of pride or quickslash on.
@@a-lvideos5611 You can also overcharm with fury, since once you are on 1hp it doesn’t matter if you receive double damage.
I use Sharp Shadow since I got for the first time I played the game and I can't play without it lol! Every charm is useful, we just need to learn how to use it
Finally, I wait so much for this
Traiter lord is DEMOLISHED with this charm. You could literally equip nothing else and still trivialise this boss with sharp shadow.
Update, my friend said he counted the dashes and says you did too few so its still worthless :c
Good job counting.
Traitor lord : you can't defend me.
Me : I know, but HE can.
*Sharp shadow appear*
I love this charm with all my heart, it carried me in a lot of situations
Sharp Shadow is pretty good for Sly's 1st phase, but it makes the dash too far for the 2nd phase where you only need to move a lil bit to dodge Buzzsaw Sly.
"Buzzsaw Sly" love it
You use sharp shadow for the damage. I use it because i like the extra distance. We are not the same (srsly tho dashing thru wristwatch nights and that maggot guy is amazing)
sharp shadow is always in my builds the extra dash distance is much more of a difference than i thought
Good, now complete Path of Pain with that charm set up
I am never doing PoP ever again outside of a randomiser. My wrists can't handle it.
this charm is so good to explore
