Hi Andrew, Bimmertech Audio guy on this side. I'm pleased to hear you like the sound! The fuse blowing out might have been a random out of spec fuse. I don't think the factory speakers could draw more than 30A without blowing out in minutes. In fact I could only get the current up to around 50A when I had a 900W RMS capable trunk sub connected to the Lightwaves output instead of the center channel in my buddies E92 M3 with Individual Audio option 752. When it comes to the DSP profiles that we pre-loaded to your amp before shipping: with the LOGIC 7 ticked on there is NO time alignment done and with it ticked off - time alignment is done for the drivers seat. (We pre-load appropriately for RHD vs. LHD BMW's) Whatever the Logic7 processing did on the factory amp - the Lightwave doesn't do that anymore. Great to see you did the amp along with an EVO retrofit - this way you have the best possible sound quality. I do hope you have a Tidal Hifi subscription - I can't recommend it enough to get the most out of this amp. If it was possible to put a DRM block on spotify with this amp - we would have done it ;) Cheers from Poland!

I've been eyeballing BimmerTech's amps for awhile, but BimmerTech's website says it doesn't work in my E60. Kinda bummed about that. I haven't called yet to verify. I'm a big sound guy, but I suck at all things electrical. Stuff like Their speakers or Bav's stuff is right up my alley. I guess once I get around to the interior stuff I'll check back on the amp and probably order some speakers. Really enjoying your rebuild on your E92. As I said before, its some serious inspiration. Cant wait to see more.
The reason you're getting the smelly speaker situation is because these speakers are underrated for the power that gets pushed in them. I'd recommend upgrading the speakers to slightly higher power rating ones. If you go overkill on the ratings, the speakers will be underpowered and the ''power on the table'' situation will sit in your head for quite a while even though these speakers would still sound really good :D I myself replaced all my door speakers (kinda went overkill in terms of power capabilities) and I loved them mainly because these were night & day difference compared to stock ones - clear, punchy, not noisy in any weird way. But then, since I knew that these were being underpowered, I placed in a 500W RMS 4-channel amplifier, pulled some wires to desired locations, then the sound remained as clear as it did before, but the loudness went up a bunch... The car on which I was doing all that was an Audi A4 B7 Avant, now I have already changed out cars to BMW F11 530d, that's why the BMW audio is relevant to me.

I have B&O in my F10 and always wondered if these upgrades would sound better than my system. I feel like B&O doesn't have enough bass and specialy mid range bass.
I have a good mate who knows all the systems well. And generally i think your opinion matches most others. They lack of bass. More suited to classical or vocal music. Not modern stuff with electronic beats or even heavy drums.
The HK amp is 9 channels with more actual speakers because each midrange and tweeter are on the same channel. They can do that because they’re mounted so close together and timing is essential the same. The light wave is nice for pnp but it gets rid of the most special aspect of the sound system which is logic 7. Logic 7 is a surround algorithm to make the car sound like a concert for every seat in the car. With their dsp tuning it is only tuned for the driver seat and everyone else has a lesser experience. Also it looks like it doesn’t even use the center speaker at all which would be expected of not having an actual center algorithm. I also see the light wave is 150x2 at 4 ohms for the underseat 8s. You can check the resistance of yours but f series hk is 8ohms so that’s only 75rms per underseat. The hk 8s roll off hard at 40hz which makes a dedicated sun needed if you want all the detail. Also at $2000usd it’s hard not to just buy a helix v twelve and retain logic 7. The detail you’re after is just correctly applying eq to get a desired house curve.
I would not believe upgrading speakers would give you better sound or even louder. The factory ones are sensitive and how good they sound is all about frequency response. I believe you can manually tune that thing so if you want to and buy a $100 mic I’ll guide you through the process or possibly remote tune it for you.
Have you had a chance to hear a Bimmertech system, both amps and speakers in a car yet? I think i mentioned it in the video but i do like the way they are tuned. It definitely matches the sort of music i listen to. I also prefer it to the B&W and B&O systems i have heard, but this is a personal preference. Enjoying the content as always I’m installing a Reflex+ unit and have been working with Motiv for 3 months on an issue. Please provide your opinions! MHD reads 110psi reflex aux pressure and TunerPro rt reads 255 fuel pressure with fuel pressure factor of 100. Motive said MHD will read 110/111 if the Reflex module is not receiving a signal. Motive has replaced the pressure sensor, I have traced the wiring from the pressure sensor harness to the connector of the Reflex, all good. I applied 12vdc to the pressure sensor connector and read 4amps. I applied 12vdc to the reflex main connector and read 4amps. I confirmed when the reflex harness is plugged in that I’m getting 12vdc at the reflex harness plug side for the pressure sensor. Motiv asked me if the ethanol content was correct. Both MHD and TunerPro RT are reading 7%. It seems to me that it’s either bad Reflex+ module or I messed up a setting in TunerPro. Thank you!!! PS…Motive has been difficult…

I’m glad to see more work is being done on these stereos. I really hope you guys can make something spectacular. If I was you I’d see about partnering up with audiofrog
What about a electric steering rack retrofit. I believe u also have hydrolic?
Thanks for this video Andrew! So level up: G05 X5? 😁
I dont think i have a choice. This setup really shows how lack luster the g series harmon kardon is.
@@ZeroTo60Tube We don't think you have the choice either lol. Joking aside - Harman Kardon is now just a brand, at least in BMWs. That's why we created the Lightwave amp :)
how would such a small amp with that power output and no heatsink stay cold?
When did they finally drop a logic 7 amp? That bothered me forever when I was looking to upgrade. You could upgrade the amp on the lower models but not the Logic 7
Yeah this is a big level up intergration and being able to load different DSP profiles through the idrive is mega.
We've got it for some time now, but it's fully available now, so go ahead!

I’m installing a Reflex+ unit and have been working with Motiv for 3 months on an issue.
I confirmed when the reflex harness is plugged in that I’m getting 12vdc at the reflex harness plug side for the
pressure sensor.
Motiv asked me if the ethanol content was correct. Both MHD and TunerPro RT are reading 7%.
It seems to me that it’s either bad Reflex+ module or I messed up a setting in TunerPro.
Thank you!!!
PS…Motive has been difficult…
what error code are you getting?
@@cptrey thx for reaching out. After asking about software compatibility early on, finally sent unit back, and bench test found software compatibility. Updated all software and firmware and new BIN from my tuner and all good. That was I get for being computer illiterate lol!
Luv the motive reflex product once we got it running!
What do you think of MaxxEcu and the fact that they can now control 8hp and Ecu simultaneously?
Very excited. I bought my first maxxecu back in 2022. I love the product. Currently setting a car up to try 8hp controll now.
off topic question if you dont mind - are you still affiliated with the 8 speed shop?
yes
We want more 8hp detailed content 😢
What module are you using for the navigation or are you using a whole new android navigation?
So BMretrofitz has enabled the factory BMW navigation to work like normal. No need for a module it does pick GPS location already. However i will use carplay for nav.
You should try using the individual e90 m3 speakers.
Im curious abou that, I really love those grilles as well.
@@ZeroTo60Tube best 300 usd I’ve ever spent.
@@viktorbarsukov2894 oshhhhh, that was a deal.
Have you tried or recommend the amp with aftermarket Focal speakers?
I haven’t. Big fan focal stuff.
You are really great at this type of car. Hi, my car needs an engine replacement. 2011 335ix E90 AWD n55 mpackage m sport ،I have a complete car engine with a gearbox, a 2011 F10 535i, an N55 engine. I noticed that the engine is almost the same, but the gearbox is a little different. What do I do to make this engine work on my car? Do I just need to install it and I do not need to do anything, or do I have to modify it? Some things to work with, thank you
This F10 engine has the number N55B30A written on it, and this is my car model number, WBAPL5C56BA919182.
I noticed that the engine is the same but the gearbox is different. Will I face major problems because of this? I want to install everything at once, the engine computer, the gearbox and all the wires. Will it be not difficult?
Can you show how to retrofit ACC?*
I would love to, but i can't find a kit for a reasonable price.
Does Bryce sell a full nbt retrofit for the e9x?
He does, well he does custom packages depending on how far people want to go. If you are in the states, pricing might be scary from us Aus. Parts are very exxy here at the moment and the wreckers have zero NBT units left. However hit up Bryce and see what he can do for you.
@@ZeroTo60Tube That’s understandable. I currently have a mmi unit, which honestly gets the job done, but seeing a true nbt retrofit with our actual car image in the software is pretty neat! You have me envious lol.
Thank you for the content!
Anyone know when the show is returning?.
Im not too far away. Current on my first holiday since 2019. I have a few more projects in the works, but getting ready for the trip took over the 2 months leading up for it. ruclips.net/video/NQSvuc7v4co/видео.html this is on my other channel, might be of interest
Any new 8speed swap project mate?
The shop is out of control. I just havent had a chance to film anything tbh.
This amplifier is really awesome, makes huge difference on my E92 335i, mine one is equipped hifi system not top hifi. So i bought the alpha one up8 amplifier.
However after i installed the amp, there is a static white noise from the speakers, especially the twitters are the loudest. Anyone have a clue to solve this? I’ve emailed the support team from bimmertech, will update here once they reply.
I imagine it may be either a setting or wiring issue. Keen to hear how you resolve it.
@@ZeroTo60TubeGot it solved with the kind staff from bimmertech. It is the tune file problem~
Well Andrew once again I'm hoping you're just working on other things and that it's not something terrible that's keeping you out of the video life! Still pulling for ya and I do know that getting one's self back into the hard work of YT is no easy thing to do in any situation. I still haven't put anything out although when I do I will have a lot of Material. But I pray you and yours are alright! July 17 2024
Hope to see a new update soon mate missing the content
Hey man! Thanks for checking in. Im still working on the car, ive done custom headlights. and ordered all the parts for the engine build 2 weeks ago now. There have been some delays with MHD port injection, so made the descision last week to go straight to Maxxecu. Work has been insane this year. In a good way, but my time is just very scarce. However i will film when it comes time to get the car sorted. I just got my licence back last week as well. The pressure is on to get it back on the road.
@@ZeroTo60Tube that’s great to hear that it’s coming along and I know how hard life can get. Especially these days with cost of living in Australia getting worse and worse. Be great to see some cool BMW content it keeps me sane haha
Can you please help I just bought an e92 My OBD2 If port is not working , I checked Fuse all the pins in the back of the connector look fine If anyone has any clue to why I'm not getting powered to my OBD2 plug please let me kno thank u
🔥🔥🔥🔥 yo I wish I had this accent 🤣🤣
earthquake underseats next?
I think they would actually sound decent with this amp driving them. I put a set in a m2 a few years ago, and with the factory amp there was only a small improvement. With this some decent subs would pump. Mind you i would struggle to venture aware from the bimmertech as they will have DSP profiles that will work perfectly with thier speakers.
Song at 27:19 pls?

Hmm.. ya sure, Ill sub.
I like my Logic7 in both E92 335i and E63 635D :D
But if You say it's worth doing, I see this being done at some point in the future :)
Well if you just pop over, ill let you have a listen hahaha. This really does make a massive difference. I had hopes after the system in the e91 and its delivered the same "HOLY SHIT" difference. The way the bass hits now is so distinct. On the same notes its not a cheap upgrade. But it delivers. Makes the G05 harmon kardon sound so flat. Which is wild.
@@ZeroTo60Tube I'm on my way 😝See you in about 2 years! (I take it you will not fly-in your car here)

It's actually impressive how shit BMW can make so many speakers sound for what they charged for these cars. 😊
True that! That's why we do exist lol

Can't wait to see the E92 do some roll racing. 🫣🫢🤣
