N55 for sound and B58 for reliability but N55 is the precursor for other great BMW motors. And N55 is still incredibly reliable and BMW mechanics have no issues working on them Now the N54 on the other hand…

@@qpdbsz5761 Difference is huge. B58 lacks torque. I've never driven a stock B58 only Stage2+ FBO E40 about 500hp. S55 is much stronger, way more torqy and the powerband is higher up the revrange and it doesn't stop making power above 6k rpm like the N55 and B58. I have mine on E30 and about 600hp. The M4 is definitely a sportscar and a M140i/M240i or 340i definitely isn't. Also the DCT can dump the clutch making drifting easy.
@@EjPrince23 Never had any issues, either you will or you won't and it affects 0.1% of cars which is a failure rate lower than most other brands and more often than not it only throws the timing off and no contact betweenvalves and piston. Slaps the shit out of ? As an ex owner of two manual M235’s , you are sorely mistaken. Just a downpipe got them just under 10 seconds 100 - 200 km/h. These days chaps forget what the second gen N55 was, yes it is slower and older but by no means getting anything slapped out of it by an f series B58 stock for stock or stage 1. Above that is where the gap starts to grow. Did highway runs time and again and they were always pretty much even, that’s why I kept my N55 as we didn’t know the reliability of the B58s when they were launched. The second gen B58’s are a different story , stock Supras wipe the floor with the F Series , it is literally a 2 - 3 car difference so definite Successor status there.
@Gokrin haha I pretty much agree with you 😊. I started off with E series N54's and got my first F series, which was an F30 335 back in 2016. The B58 was very new at the time, so I was avoiding the 340i. Ended up graduating to an F80 M3 for a short while and then bought my N55 M2 a few years ago and did a Pure stage 2 turbo, upgraded hpfp, and about to run flex fuel on it. I didn't want a comp because I didn't want to have to worry about crank hub issues. I later bought my wife an X3 M40i and instantly fell in love with the B58! The power curve, torque, response to mods, and reliability are all so good. I still like my N55, and it's been good to me, but yes, especially the B58TU's and up as well as the S58's reign supreme 😍
