The pianist's impish smile is so wonderful. He seems to enjoy Nadine Sierra's performance so much. I feel about her performance the same way as he!

Great singer, and I love the acting, but Lucia Popp's version on Pavarotti's My Favorite Mozart CD is so beautiful, and made me love this. There is a place for both interpretations. I love the beauty of this melody.

Praised for her vocal beauty, seamless technique, and abundant musicality, Nadine Sierra is being hailed as one of the most promising, young talents in opera today. She was named the Richard Tucker Award Winner in 2017 and was awarded the 2018 Beverly Sills Artist Award by the Metropolitan Opera. Having made a string of successful debuts at the Met, Teatro alla Scala, Opéra national de Paris, and Staatsoper Berlin, she has become a fixture at many of the top houses around the world. On August 24th, 2018, her debut album, There’s a Place for Us, was released under the Deutsche Grammophon/Universal Music labels.

Very nice and powerful control of her vocal range. However, this piece requires less heavy force and more coquettish playful elegance. I think Cecilia Bartoli nails the right tone in performing this piece!

      no comment .
      1 e 2 etc.etc.etc.etc.etc.etc.............................

@@thaliarice3891 No one will listen to a still stick, true. I prefer To have the singer in recital with facial expression, Vocal nuance, and body attitude. Far more riveting and classy than overacting . Watch Callas or Corelli or any legends. Leave the overt acting for the opera production.

Maybe sexist isn't the best word? But basically in this aria Zerlina tells Masetto that she'll let him beat her etc etc(he was upset because he thought she's cheating on him with Don Giovanni so maybe this was her way of trying to calm him down? Like even beat me gauge my eyes out etc but don't be mad lol)

Why do people always have to categorize, to compare....especially in music? For me it doesn't matter if she is soprano, mezzo or bass... if she moves my heart all this stuff is completely unimportant.

    • @andity1
      @andity1 6 лет назад +8

first she is not a mezzo, second Zerlina could be sung by mezzos as well. Listen to Berganza, Vesselina Katsarova, Cecilia Bartoli.. they are all mezzo sopranos

    • @Shesamezzo
      @Shesamezzo 6 лет назад +11

Zerlina was actually written for the same singer as Cherubino. While Zerlina is usually sung by light sopranos, her ensemble work is identical to Cherubino, which sits low and needs to be a bit beefy. I feel, as a mezzo who has sung Zerlina, that it's beautiful for all voices. I personally prefer a bit of a darker/heavier sound as Zerlina isn't a child (like Barbarina for example), she is a woman who should have a womanly, seductive quality. For me that quality is nicely presented with a richer colour in the voice. To each their own, tomato/tomato.
