Yeah, no one is cooler than John Frusciante. He has an enormous wealth and talent as a guitarist--made even more impressively unreal that he could play this well at about age 21 or 22. Definately one of the best and most fun guitarists to watch.
I've seen john play in that position alot and I was like whatttt. But then I went to try playing like that, and I actually played a bit better. But knees hurt after though lol
He is their guitarist. He just likes taking breaks. Than flea has to scramble to find someone else to fill in. John helped by getting his protege to come on
@@JungleJuiceJoey He did not, in the beginning you can hear the videotape is broken. Also, in the part "he fucked up" you can hear wrong timing of prerecorded bass and drums because of the videotape.
@sabbracadabra yes, yes he is, the other day i saw him on instagram (he doesn't actually has an account but a fan saw him and started a conversation) also you can see him here on youtube if you search a sant valentine video he is eating with a group
I mean, there's probably hours upon hours of footage that was shot for this doc and left on the cutting room floor, and someone probably just sent him an unedited or extended clip.
You're joking. He obviously played it pretty sloppy the second time and they both sarcastically acknowledged that before he walked off shaking his head at himself.
No, YOU must be joking. This is the exact solo you hear on the record. Yes the timing is sloppy, but that's what makes it so great. Also, because you hear the guitar much louder instead of in the mix, the timing seems extra sloppy. He meant the "that was good", because it actually was really good
Nick Frijns agreed. Listen to John or fleas master tracks. Out of the mix does sound different. That's why songs have different parts that combine, its about the overall sound.
My love for this man is immense
slap n pop you’re love for a man that doesn’t even know you exist.
Gaytorade
slap n pop John has at times saved my life.

Beautiful solo. One of the best in my opinion. Anything that comes from this guy is made from soul. You can tell. Love Frusciante!!❤️❤️❤️💯
i can't even sit in that position let alone play the guitar in it!
i just did something that devastated my entire life and this comment was the only thing that made me laugh
John Frusciante what did you do
hope everythings fine now
Haha I actually find it really comfortable to sit like that and play guitar.
I've seen john play in that position alot and I was like whatttt. But then I went to try playing like that, and I actually played a bit better. But knees hurt after though lol
The best guitarist RHCP will ever have! EVER.
What an obvious comment
No shit sherlock

It's time they released a funky monks "extended directors cut" there must be so much cool stuff on the cutting room floor
I learned that by ear with double stops, now I guess I need to relearn it with sliding double stops
Benjamin Williams
He also used a fretless guitar.
jim griffin absolutely. needs to be scanned in 2K at least. DVD quality is not good enough.
@@benjaminwilliams41 he frets G string and plays the B and E open
U can really see how happy he is about making history,he knows he's onto something special..feel the energy
One of the best frusciante solos ever
i knew he was gonna say let me just do it one more time
I live, breathe, and will hopefully die playing drums. Still, Frusciante is my favorite musician.
I could listen to John play all day long!
Legendary John!
The unmastered backing track sounds so warm.
Love watching the best guitarists of all time, absolute mastery in this video :)
i love his tune on this album
I am obsessed with this riff.
Genius at work.
They should’ve just written a whole song around that guitar part.
John Frusciante and Brendan O'Brien, two geniuses
Greatest album of all time. Chili Peppers for LIFE.
I want more of this. Whoever has the og tape, make a video of all John recording the songs.
I don't know exactly why but I love him more than any other guitarplayer out there
You know exactly why. Becos there's only one John Frusicante.
Elliott Smith,Kurt,Buckley,YOU MADE IT,THANK YOU
Matter of time
Greatest of all time
That was so fucking awesome.
Also note on the fret-less Strat....my heart is open in the cosmos that shit is all open up to the cosmos
so many people trying to cover this but john is the one who can really nail that solo, such an amazing player
John and Brendan..both are Giants!
Kmon this is why i heard rhcp since 20 yrs, John absolutly rock it out
WELCOME BACK JOHN!!!!!!!
It's so weird hearing them rewind the tape afterwards
This album is amazing. I still have the tape.
"...*lips smack ... Let me just do it one more time."
"that was good huh?" 1:25
"that was it, huh?" im pretty sure
69 dude
He fucked up on the second take too
@@JungleJuiceJoey He did not, in the beginning you can hear the videotape is broken. Also, in the part "he fucked up" you can hear wrong timing of prerecorded bass and drums because of the videotape.
Beautiful
Having seen this, I then decided to name my beautiful, new black kitten (Mellowship) Slinky Sciante, or Slinky for short ❤️
excellent share, thanks! john was amazing on this disc.
please john make a son
And/or a daughter!
Aquatic Highs that’s not how it works lol
Silence is a virtue
He means he wouldn’t be a good father anymore, and you know what he might be right.
@sabbracadabra yes, yes he is, the other day i saw him on instagram (he doesn't actually has an account but a fan saw him and started a conversation) also you can see him here on youtube if you search a sant valentine video he is eating with a group
My womb is totally available for his babies.
Youthful John
0:29 i like to describe my riffs like that aswell
Very flexible young man he is
I love this guy
God. Love. I love him so bloody much
Frusciante is the man!
Wore this VHS out in high school
yep. same.
Wait a minute, this is more than what the documentary shows, how did you get a hold of this?
You're right
documentary?? enlighten me please
Mario Villa Funky Monks. The documentary shows the recording process of Blood Sugar Sex Magic as well as some interviews.
I mean, there's probably hours upon hours of footage that was shot for this doc and left on the cutting room floor, and someone probably just sent him an unedited or extended clip.
I would love to see that. I could tell much was left out of Funky Monks.
one among the greatest guitaris
I'm in love with these guys
still cant figure it out how these guys reinvented their sound and music for BSSM after mothers milk and their general sound in the 80s
johnflea Rick Rubin was a big part of it
Frusciante wrote more to his own style.
I think it's a compilation of 2
Thanks for the vid. I've seen the funky monk vid. but this full part not on the vid.
Devoir de mémoire. Les RHCP n ont pas toujours fait de la merde en boîte.
Pour ne jamais oublier.
John "saviour" Frusciante
My boy john is amped!
AWESOME
I’m just searching the comments to see how many shitty guitarists are here to say his guitar is out of tune
It is out of tune. By 12-TET. So they aren't wrong.... It's just meant to be like that.
His guitar is out of tune, happy?
And that’s the point
I cannot play as well as John by a long shot. That doesn't change the fact that the guitar in this vid is noticeably out of tune though.
He didn’t tune his guitar on purpose. That’s the magic of Frusciante.
genius
John amazing telent
GUITAR HERO
BraboOoOo!!! s2
The juice man
John!
“ listen to that Didn’t you hear that didn’t you hear those ghosts?... John not everybody hears um, only we hear them...”
Amazing stuff. It would have been fun as making that album.
“Cool let’s hear that.”
Master
Grenate juice ^^
Personal MTV video
Hmm, but isn´t the descending riff in that take he liked at 1:15 a bit messed up?
Timm Brockmann yes it is men, maybe they recorded another take after listening that, anyways it's awesome to see this guy creating some good music...
that's just the video skipping a second. He played it perfectly
It's the video
Yeah .. i ve noticed it too
JF killin it
Almost 5 yeara later, i just realized thats a fretless guitar :0
Uhhhh yess
all 21 dislikes on this are haters mann....
guitar playing God robot..
sick
currently trying to learn this
1:33 when you haven't had a speed-ball in close to two minutes
Hendrix detected!!!
This solo is clearly influenced by John McGeoch on the chorus of Into The Light by Siouxsie and the Banshees.
Thank god he made that change , sounds infinitely times better
The further you go back the better 😂
лучшая композиция в мире
Полностью согласен
Jonh eu te amo 😍🌶
I've read that this is a fretless Stratocaster. Is it? I mean, it definitely sounds like it is
hes about 19 there.
wrong
@@KM-zw9qb he was 20
It's almost otherworldly to see him fucking up.
He doesn't fuck up here, he just chooses to play the same thing in a different way that sounds better to him.
You're joking. He obviously played it pretty sloppy the second time and they both sarcastically acknowledged that before he walked off shaking his head at himself.

StephenAndrew777 I don't think you understand how music is made mate. Or know Johns style, at all.
Que pro
he fockin left
wiencheck ummmm yeah
i think he went to hear the recordings
[if you meant left the room ]
...the band! What part of that is...Hello!?!
PERIOD. EXCLAMATION POINT!
Gato Preto Funkeiro
Is that a fretless guitar?
I don't think so
gonscla 92 yes, it is. Confirmed by John himself.
Did John use it for the whole song or just this part?
Ryan Risdon Just the solo, but the same guitar crops up in other tracks from that time, such as the lead parts in Soul To Squeeze.
Logan Rohr When and where did you get that confirmation?
Scarred
IN B MAYOR (or wherever the fuck is the key the song was made...)
Gotta cut loose, foot loose
What kind of pedals does he have here?
*would that be lame*
Close. But this isn’t the take on BSSM.
Video
ну репер хаски знаете да, чисто замашечки поперенял немного вы не находите?? внешний вид интонации, немножечко один в один
Ww
who's he talking to, rick rubin?
Brendan O'Brien, the recording engineer.
thats not the final cut, he fucked up on the second take
