Ohh so sweet of you to do a video about Ireland at Christmas. I & so many other Irish are honoured you keep coming back here and mentioning us especially that you & J make such a big effort to showcase more than the typical stuff
Loved the video. Loved your beautiful Christmas spirit. Happy Christmas to you and your family. Yes! I am part Irish and proud of it. Sending joy, love and many blessings from the USA. Kathryn
Maith thú as do chuid Gaeilge agus go raibh maith agat! Great job with your Irish and thank you! I'm learning Irish in the US and I hope to visit Ireland one day! Nollaig Shona Dhuit!
Thank you for that nice clip about Christmas in Ireland. Just one thing, the pubs here in the Republic are closed on Christmas day. I don't know about Northern Ireland. Merry Christmas to you.
i really fell in love with Ireland after my trip at the end of October for Halloween celebration. Although I think Irish people are very friendly and fun every time, and Dublin is always a good idea. Another important thing to do: GO TO AN IRISH PUB!!! You can drink a beer and sing Christmas songs with Irish people and breathe and the real atmosphere.
Up until the 1960s goose was the traditional dish. Not as common now but still there. It's a quite the operation cooking one as they are huge and you need a deep roasting rack because of all the goose fat. Totally worth it though as it is liquid gold for roast potatoes and veggies. Nom.
Yes, turkey and ham is the most popular combination across the country. Spiced beef is most commonly served in Cork. You can buy it at the English Market.
Mark, great video. But as a fellow traveler who enjoys his beer, I have to point out that you misspelled Guinness! Someone else already pointed out Stephen (which is my name) vs Steven. Late late Toy Show is great. Check out the episode with Michael Moloney singing in honor of his deceased father... it will touch your heart. Thanks!
Every country have their own christmas tradition. In germany they started decorating trees hundreds of years ago. Then HC andersen saw It and brought the tradition to denmark...
I hope someday I get to visit Ireland, The photos and movies I've watched and saw just don't show the beauty of Ireland there is nothing like the real thing.
As an Irishman living here 34 years, the best places to avoid during Christmas is Dublin City, I’m happy tourists have a great time coming here, wish some of that magic was felt by the people living here 😞
I get that dublins expensive and all that but non dub irish need to chill its a pretty nice place (also compared to American cities the crime is nothing same with limerick)
Christmas markets…meh… I’ve heard stories about some of the supposedly German food traders being spotted unloading Costco items and talking in thick Belfast accents.
It depends, there are different varieties. Some are dense like a fruit loaf, some are soft and fluffy. Most have a marzipan or white frosting. Generally they will have citrus, sweet dried fruits like raisins and cherries and nuts like almonds with spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. Some have Whisky, Sherry or Rum, some don't, its personal preference. Homemade ones are always the best, cafe or market bought can be quite good. Store bought ones are usually garbage and should be avoided.
It’s called the Republic of Ireland. Northern Ireland is different and have no interest in being part of the republic. Important to make the distinction.
It’s actually not called the Republic of Ireland, only in football. It states it clearly in the constitution that the name of the state is Ireland, or Éire in Irish. “The Republic of Ireland” is a British invention.
@@DependsWhatDay is it about "The Pale"? I thought this was gone long ago! Anyway, I guess it's the same in every country, I'm French and most people outside Paris hate the place.

Absolutely inspiring!! Thank you!!
Cork City (and the rest of Ireland) during Christmas is absolutely wonderful!
The Oliver Plunkett, of course. I love Cork

Belfast Christmas market - the stand that does chilliwurst hot dogs with mustard and ketchup. Hard to beat for street food.
Galway is magic at Christmas time definitely destination to visit!
@@irlandiapoukrainsky I am a bit late but I love Galway at Christmas lol
❤❤❤❤
The best and original Christmas market is Winterval in Waterford.

Winterval in Waterford City is amazing
I feel Ireland is very much underrated. Want to stay at a nice airbnb and explore it in a rental car. Definitely on my list!
Many, and i mean many, roundabouts. Left lane roundabouts woo hoo!
Nollaig shona duitse Walter!! 🎉
Turkey and ham is our traditional Christmas dinner.

Well as someone who loves beer you should know that Guinness is not a beer, its a stout...
@@benc6252 I sit corrected... too stout to stand. Ein bier bitte 😀
As far as snow goes I think some people confuse Ireland with other countries
Happy Christmas!

Interesting to hear 🎉
I was there (Dublin) this morning. Back in the USA. The home of the braves.
Home of the war criminals more like.

Do you ever do meetups with subscribers/fans? Would love to say hello while you're in Ireland!
Hey Mark, awesome video

It's Stephen, not Steven.
Excellent topic frankly never considered it for Christmas m.

I think Dublin is best avoided throughout the year, not just during Christmas.
@@artur5308 this is the secret visitors don’t realise, Irish people outside Dublin do not like Dublin 😅👌

Thought the US gave travel warnings for going to Ireland, even though its the 3rd safest country on earth and the US is not even in the top 100th
Such a fun video! Have not been to Erin since 2011. Makes me want to go "home" again! Thanks!!
Are things a lot more expensive during late November into early December?
Yes everything is gone up in cost

I always have to go home for Christmas for the food and good vibes.

If I don’t drink alcohol at all, does it mean that Ireland is not worth visiting ?
It's Beautiful and worth it. The food alone I'd go for 😁
Ireland can be a wonderful place if you avoid Dublin. Instead, stick to Galway or anywhere West of Dublin basically.
That's good advice all year round 😄
Why people outside Dublin have such a chip on the shoulder about the place? Genuinely curious about this.
@@g-man4744 Research the history. The reasons are easily found
