    Pinning this because I want to clarify: It is totally okay if your favorite season is BB16 or if your favorite houseguest is Jeff Schroeder. The reason I said those in particular is because oftentimes, recruits have only seen the seasons that production gives them to watch in sequester. BB16 is ALWAYS one of the seasons that are given in sequester, so when 5 people are saying that BB16 is their favorite season and are not showing signs of knowing much else about the show, it's a pretty big indicator that they haven't really watched the show before and are going based off of what production gave them, leading me to believe that they were recruited. Similarly, Jeff Schroeder does the preseason interviews and is one of the more well known people from Big Brother that recruited players may have known of outside of the show, so he's an easy answer for them to pick as their favorites if they don't know too many players. I did not mean to call out a bunch of people by calling them fake fans for liking BB16 or liking Big Jeff lol, your favorite season could be BB19 for all I care, because if that’s what you enjoy I’m happy for it
    Also I was wrong and Analyse was not recruited

      I mean they had a whole year to improve and watch the entire show (not saying they didn't, I'm just speaking in general) so first season? Yeah, excusable, but the second was arguably worse than the first season, in regards to jury management.

    I definitely believe recruits are necessary in many cases. You can’t just cast a bunch of super fans who know the game inside and out. Sometimes, you need a more fresh selection of people who can play from the ground up, and offer something that the veterans can’t.

    • @nicjoy4407
      @nicjoy4407 3 месяца назад +6

      Absolutely, we've seen it a lot in survivor where they cast a lot of "super fans" who all have a very similar approach to the game, which makes it super stale. Some of the best moments are from recruits, like Courtney from Survivor: China.

    I'm fine with recruits, but a step in the right direction would be to stop presenting them to us as if they were fans; I think that's what produces a lot of the eye-rolls pre-season. They could be open about their status as a recruit and treat them accordingly.
    Basically, there's no need to have them tell us their favorite season is BB16 and say they're going to play like Donny. You can ask them questions that are more pertinent to what a recruit who doesn't watch the show would be thinking, like "what about BB from what you've heard is most exciting to you?", or "of XYZ skills we tell you are important in the game, which are you most/least confident in for yourself?" or something like that.
    Advertise more of the exciting aspect of somebody who doesn't know what they're getting into describing their hopes, dreams and expectations, which people in the know will look at in contrast to what they're actually going to get.

    • @handsoaphandsoap

      I think the main issue with them is that there are too many per season. Get a few that would make good tv and leave out the ones that will surely be early boots or players like Holly or Victoria who coast to the end and don’t contribute much to the show.

    • @quiddity131
      @quiddity131 3 года назад +9

      Well the thing is, the show exists to be watched, get good ratings and make money for CBS, not to cater to the desires of the fans. I'm sure there are tens of thousands of, maybe hundreds of thousands of fans who love BB and apply or would love to be on the show. But it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of those people are concentrated to a few archetypes of cast members. It also wouldn't surprise me if a lot of those people would be bad TV. The show's casting is at its best when its a mixture of both fans and recruits to help fill the gaps and diversify the cast with the type of players who would be harder to get going strictly from applicants.

    Jillian is apart of a BB fb group I'm in. At one point she said she initially applied for the Amazing Race with her boyfriend, and then applied for Big Brother just for the heck of it.
    So she isn't a recruit, but may have come off that way since BB wasn't her go to show.

    Great video, Jessica did say in a podcast she was on (I can't remember which one at the moment) that she was a recruit, but all recruits - as far as she said - still have to go through the "audition" process. They are invited to come audition and they are interviewed by people who don't know they are recruited. Something I didn't know until recently.

    I think we have to remember that even if some players are recruited that dosent meen that they have never seen the show or dont know nothing about it. They just havent applied. Also I dont think Caleb from season 16 were bad recruit. He was good in comps and brought lot fun stuff to live feeds. I also think he had some strategy in his game and pick up on thing but it was harder to see because Derrick dominated the gaame from start to end

    • @Ethanimale
      @Ethanimale  3 года назад +2

      Caleb was probably the second best recruit of BB16 gamewise and I just got carried away and generalized his game style, I just think his game was very heavily based on loyalty and a lot of the time he was loyal to a fault to the wrong people and that cost him

    The flaw in the rumor that Cowboy didn't know who his father was, is that according to the show e realized he was related to Nakomis when she mentioned her fathers name. So apparently he knew his name. Guess BB could have told him hard to know especially as that was before the feeds went live. But it does contradict the rumor.

    Recruits can be entertaining and good game players, but are often flops. But fans can be entertaining and great game players. But why pick people who don't care about the show when some people have been applying for years? Get the smarties, and crazies in there from the fans. Frenchie is a great cast decision to jump start this amazing season.

    As far as WIllie Hantz I think officially the story has always been he applied. I am skeptical too and even if he did I think we all know why he got on. BUt not sure it has ever been proven he was a recruit. And I am going off memory but I thought Rachel Reiley was an applicant, or maybe she was just a recruit who happened to be a fan. But I was sure she was a fan of the show going in.
    Incedentally I am shocked according to you that Vanessa Russo wasn't a recruit. I assumed given the world series of poker thing she had to be. But have never tried to find out.

    • @Ethanimale
      @Ethanimale  3 года назад +9

      Not trying to throw too much shade, BB16 was my first season and I loved it at the time. It's just that recruits that don't know the show prior to being cast typically only watch the seasons production gives them, which ALWAYS consists of BB16, so it can sorta be like red flashing lights when 7 people on a cast all say that BB16 is their favorite season because it's all they've seen as a recruit, and it makes it easier to guess at who is an actual fan and who is a "new" fan as they like to call it. Same thing for liking Jeff, he does all the preseason interviews, he's one of the more known players from Big Brother to people that don't watch the show, so he's an easy answer for recruits to say as their favorite player when they aren't exposed to the show.

      No hate was meant to be given lol I tried explaining it earlier, but recruits who are unfamiliar with the show typically only watch what’s given to them in sequester by production, which ALWAYS consists of BB16, so it can be a dead giveaway when a bunch of houseguests say BB16 is their favorite season and then know next to nothing about the show
