I’m the little girl in this video! I remember shooting this like it was yesterday and have been trying to find this version for ages... thank you for uploading it!
Hello Haley.. how old were you ? I was wondering did you actually know David Bowie or did you at least get the chance to spend any time with him other than the time spent creating this video..also how long did it take to do this.. what you did ? How much and what all do you remember ?
After he died, shortly after, I was awakened by him singing at top volume “Let’s dance”. Of course there wasn’t a radio in the room. Same thing happened to me when George Michael died.
He takes me to wherever I want to go huge fan of David he gives me goosebumps such a sensual voice love Bowie always have always will best ever Mr Bowie
David Bowie was a huge part of my life for over 40 years, have everything, I mean everything he has ever recorded since day one, Mannish Boys, Lower third on up. Killed me when my daughter called me that early Sunday morning to tell me he had died. Damn, I miss him.
Only realised listening to this song for 1st time in years, the lyrics " here are we at the centre of it all " are used also in Blackstar!..Both songs are very spiritual I feel...he was a genius at expressing himself, his vision and emotion through his music and a genuine one of a kind soul. He is still around us all I am sure..in some energy form.
I love me some david miss him so much god bless Iman and there daughter Alexandria I been a big fan of his since 86 in his movie wit Jennifer Coleney in labyrinth when as world falls down
Just discovered this today, been watching it non-stop, thank you for at least making a watchable version of this (imo and compared to his other videos) underdeveloped video
Hay ausencias que son muy significativas y no pueden consolarse sino escuchando música. No tengo palabras para agradecerte lo suficiente por haber subido este vídeo con una canción que es entrañable para mi. Enteramente agradecida.
It must have been a very memorable experience. I have seen your face for years as part of the Slow burn musical experience that you were part of. David was of course brilliant and will be part of my memories as I am getting older as will you 🤔😊 I hope the future was good for you. 🙏
@@pierfrontarcade don't know, maybe just a second before that there is a short picture of something that looks like ashes to ashes video segment, than there is astronout head somewhere, there is also a guitar in space shuttle that could alloude to space oddity, am I close?
That continuous dit-dit-do-ahh, dit-dit-doo-ahh....is from another song which I know well but can’t place it right now. I bet it’s from Low, maybe “Always Crashing in the Same Car” I will have to listen to that to see if I guessed correctly. Yes, I’m back to edit...it is reminiscent of that song.
Interesting. As I hear it, Always Crashing goes _ - _ _ and SB _ _ - _ I'm not a musician though. Pegg mentions vintage sound of Heroes and Teenage Wildlife.
pierfrontarcade hi!! Laugh, I’m not going to debate the sounds because (laugh again) I had a difficult time describing what I was hearing. As long as you know what I’m talking about, and you do, that’s all that matters. Thank you!
Hi, thanks for the challenge, it's quite fun to listen to the various instruments and layers. There's nothing unusual about repurposed sounds, but to call it deliberate one would have to identify precisely the relationship between the two motives, how they compare. The fabric of the two songs is very different. Any experts around?
How did footage (at about 2:05) from Commander Chris Hadfields video from several years ago of Space Oddity, performed aboard the International Space Station get into this video from 2002? It's Hadfields guitar floating through the ship. Why is this footage included in a video for Slow Burn?
Both original videos are shorter than the album version of the song, so I needed something to fill the spaces. I chose that footage to complement the cosmic theme.
According to Pegg, this is an inaccurate assumption. "(H)e had been nurturing [these feelings] long before the terrorist attacks. Indeed, many of the same concerns can be traced to earlier Bowie compositions."
Ria Ri I don't think it's sad, just healthy thinking! He was a very public person for so, so long. Of course he wanted to have some stuff in his life that was more private. Like who wouldn't? I personally think he did a really good work at not giving out to much info, on the stuff that really meant something for him. One of that things where his family 💖
can clearly see why it never got released-its just bowie waving his hands around in a silly fashion shame something more interesting couldn't have been made for this song with its thick atmosphere of dread and paranoia.
I've nothing against Bowie waving his hands around, but yes, it could've been darker. My main issue though is the very fact of Bowie following the common trend at the time and giving up on video promos as such (that's the reason why it wasn't released) when he should've invented youtube!
@GuP Brink That's precisely the point: He was so innovative and forward-thinking, it's really surprising he didn't come up with this particular idea. I too like the vid =)
@@pierfrontarcade well he should have patented the iPad and tablet in 1980 (Ashes to Ashes) did you see his storyboard drawings for that video with the picture of the hand holding the iPad, and the design of the tablet on the chair in the padded room! Not to mention that he conceptualised iTunes in interviews in 1995 and 1997.
@And all the angels say I know what you mean, but a modern eye is also bound to interpret every picture frame as a tablet (and the one in the hand is definitely based on a Polaroid). It's interesting that he started doubting the video promos just when reasonably fast internet became widely available though. And he went from creating hypertext narratives (Leon) to banking.

That's amazing. Sorry this isn't the pure ad version. I wasn't aware it's been vacuumed off the internet.
A memory to be treasured for ever!

Heathen a criminally underrated album and this songs sits in my top ten Bowie songs
David Bowie was a prophet.
Been a huge fan of David Bowie (Jones) since late 60's. God I miss him
I too...
The most Bowie of all Bowie vocals. And a truly epic song.
Офигенный, стильный, красивый! Талантливый и неординарный. Таких больше не будет. Спасибо ему за прекрасную музыку! Светлая ему память.
Amazing. I miss Bowie so much. We were incredibly lucky to witness his Art
Oh...I still miss him...Here in December of 2018...Miss you "Star Man"...
Tears come to my eyes when I watch this video. I think Bowie isn't dead. He returned to Mars.
Without a doubt, one of the masterpieces of Bowie. From Outside to the end, almost all his songs are perfect, but Slowburn is such a damned hymn.
This song represents the musical essence of david. A journey from space oddity to black star... its all in the song!
Life's just not been the same without you dear David. My God man I miss you to tears and the pain is so very deep.
💜⚡⚡⚡♾️
I will miss his creativity on the music scene...I will always regret not seeing him live. Love this song.
Brilliant!!

I love this. Major Tom makes an appearance too. David Bowie is eternally magical. ❤️
I'll probably always wish that I had gone to see him.
I know that he's no longer suffering.
Happy Birthday David BOWIE, if you only knew how this song "fits" in our world right now...
I think I have something in my eye... AGAIN!! two years on and it still hurts :(
Agreed!
I still cry when I listen to his last album. It’s late 2020 now ...
one of my favorite songs absolutely beautiful
First got into his music in 1970 and still listen to it some great re mixes out there aswell RiP a true legend never bettered

Thanks, good to hear that it works.
I like this song, and I agree that the floating guitar is a really nice touch. My question is: what theme or message is being conveyed by this song?
9/11 Trauma
Thank you. Abstractly, I think the speaker is anxious about preserving their humanity in adverse conditions.

Government spying on its people under the guide of protecting freedom
this is not remastered, this is highly edited to coincide with Blackstar!! purity is everything
I call it _restored_, because the idea of releasing a full video was abandoned by DB. This is my interpretation of the materials available, obviously.
