      I’m a big fan of Ender 3’s. They’re the first printers that I use when printing anything and I only use my larger ones if the piece is too large to fit. There are a ton of different models though so I can be a little confusing. The V2s are great but there is a V2 Neo that has some great added features that I personally feel is well worth the slight price jump. I’d only go for a 300x300mm printer if you’re really going to be constantly printing massive single pieces. Most large models are split into pieces that will fit on an Ender 3 size bed though (235x235mm).

    • @MMsPropShop
      @MMsPropShop  Год назад

      I essentially have “droid parking” in my workshop. A lot of the droids don’t take up a ton of space as they’re quite thin and it’s just their height that could become more of a concern. It’s probably similar to the area needed for a floor lamp in a lot of cases. I’ve also wanted to build a K2 for a while. He is one of those droids that take up a bit more space as his legs have further spacing than a lot of them that just are straight down from the rest of their bodies.

    looking to get a 3d printer to start doing some droid builds for myself from droid division - would you recommend the ender 3 - there is just so many of them.... not sure which model to go for for fdm and then resin

    • @MMsPropShop
      @MMsPropShop  Год назад

      I know, the Ender 3s can be super overwhelming. The Ender 3 V2 is an awesome machine, I wouldn’t go for anything older than it model wise because the upgrades it has over the original Ender 3/Pro are worth far more than the price difference between the two models. If you wanted something with a few more bells and whistles than the V2, there’s also the V2 Neo, S1 and S1 Pro. The short version is the V2 Neo would add auto bed levelling (that red light that you see on my machines that I’ve added myself), the S1 would give you a direct drive extruder, and the S1 Pro would give you both of those features. Auto bed levelling is very useful to have but ultimately not 100% needed unless that’s something you personally want.
      For resin, all of the pieces I made in the video were on my Elegoo Mars 2 Pro. It’s definitely the resin printer I get the most use out of and was my first resin printer. There have since been newer versions with upgrades but they’re all great little machines and would be a great first resin printer choice.

    • @antonbeech-webb1524
      @antonbeech-webb1524 Год назад

      @@MMsPropShop Awesome thank you for the update, very kind, what do you think over the bowden extruder and the direct drive ? and what about bed size ? as seen a plus and a max ? you mentioned PETG in the video is that better than PLA for droids ? you also mentioned nozzle sizes .4 and .8 what is the diff and when would it be used ? thank you

    • @MMsPropShop
      @MMsPropShop  Год назад +1

      I don’t actually own a direct drive. I understand the benefits of having one but I’ve never found the need to upgrade any of my machines.
      Bed size is definitely more of a personal choice depending on what you’re wanting to build. A standard Ender 3 bed size is generally more than sufficient in most cases and due to them being the most popular printers/bed size, most designers create files that will easily fit on those machines (including Droid Division). I always use my Ender 3s first unless it’s a bigger piece and then I’ll jump to my CR-10s if I want to print it in one piece.
      I’ve made many life size droids using the absolute cheapest PLA you can buy and they’re still looking great. PETG does technically offer more heat resistance and strength but I mostly chose to use it for IG for its sanding properties. It comes with a slew of other properties that can make it harder and less desirable to use for projects though like it’s difficulty with adhesion. PLA+ is a nice in between of the two plastics that a lot of the best droid builders in the world tend to gravitate towards using. A lot of the strength of pieces will come from how you print them though, not the material used.
      The nozzles are the diameter of the hole that the plastic comes out of. 0.4mm nozzles are the most common size on 3D printers, 0.8mm nozzles extrude twice the amount of plastic. Using bigger nozzles is all about saving time. It can come at the cost of print quality though. A 0.8mm nozzle essentially prints at half of the resolution as a 0.4mm nozzle will. I only tend to use the larger nozzle on large pieces with little detail where you wouldn’t really see a difference in print quality between the two nozzle sizes, but it will have been printed in about half of the time. Lots of people will never venture outside of using a 0.4mm nozzle and that’s completely fine! It’s a great size for just about anything you’ll ever need to print.
