    I bought a white sweatshirt at a yard sale, never worn, really nice. I wanted to do something with it like you do. A jacket. But then my mind was blank. Thank you so much for some fun ideas. I never thought of a pocket. I'm excited to make this. I hope it works. I'm not very good at sewing even though I. Enjoy sewing. 💜

      You can do it! Using a yard sale sweatshirt is the place to start- sewing takes practice. Remember to enjoy the process! Julia

    Hi, i have a sweatshirt I loved, that was too big for me after losing 3 stone. So I chopped off the cuffs, overlocked them, then did what you did with the weaving on the chest. I absolutely love it now. So, thank you for the inspiration. 😀

    Hi Julia - More awesome designs! You really do give me so much inspiration. Those won’t last long in your shop. Love how you slit the shirt and added the fabric designs with stitching!!! Love how you made the fabric piece and buttons for the closure. You are so clever. Love seeing the end results because I know they will be amazing. Enjoy the last days of summer in your neck of the woods. Seems that we still have warm days ahead. I sure hope so. See ya next time! Love & Hugs! 💕🙏🏻

      Hi Pam! Fall is in the air and I'm winding up at the flea. Another year in the books! My daughter is visiting again. It is sure nice that her new beau is from the area, I'm seeing lots of her this summer. We are hoping for a long, warm Fall like last years. Have a great week! Julia

    Genius! 🥰
    As an extremely picky sweatshirt purchaser, I love that you buy quality 80/20 sweatshirts! Idk how many other people are "allergic" to high polyester content, but even the 50/50 blends make me itch and feel claustrophobic!
    Your brain must be going 24/7 with all the new ideas you constantly have! Lucky us that you choose to share them! Thank you once again Julia! 💐

      Hi Brenda, I so agree with the sweatshirt quality. I can't put the work into a poor quality shirt. Cotton sweatshirts are getting harder to find but I'm always on the search. Thanks for watching, Julia

    Hi Julia, I’m new to your channel and I love it. I’m wondering about sizing of the sweatshirts. If I wear an extra large and want to make the blue one (cardigan )for myself, should I size up to an xxl? Thank you! I just love your creativity.

    • @stitchesbyjulia
      @stitchesbyjulia  Год назад

      I usually recommend sizing up when doing a jacket. Some of the width is taken away when you cut it down the middle and turn it back. Hope this helps. Have fun sewing! Julia

    I love what you do with your sweatshirts! 🤗
    We just paid almost $30 each for some long sleeved t shirts for a new employee that didn't work out. His name is on it. Have you done any cutie pie things with those? (6 shirts!)
    I'd like to put my name on a couple of them and maybe cut the crew neck like you do. Any suggestions? Do you think I could use the blanket stitch on it too?
    (Maybe a future tutorial?) 😉
    Thanks Julia!

      Hi Brenda, I've been using long sleeve tees in my summer shop this year. I'll have to do a video on them.. I have been adding a draw string at the bottom, some I made 3/4 sleeve. I sold many of them, they were popular. I don't like working with a tee shirt weight knit as well as a sweatshirt knit. The blanket stitch may be a bit tricky. I find a stabilizer under the design is a must so the knit doesn't stretch when sewing the design on. Hope this helps, Julia

    • @brendaseverns9704
      @brendaseverns9704 Год назад

      @@stitchesbyjulia oh I would love to see a tutorial on that!!!
      Great tip on the stabilizer and I can see why you'd prefer working with the sweatshirt materials.
      Maybe I should take some scrap tee shirts to practice on for the edge stitching. Perhaps just a zigzag would be better? I'll be looking for your new tutorials! (Like I always do!) Thanks for responding! You're the best!!! 🥰

    Do you have a video showing how to make a sweatshirt have slits? The band is too tight I would like to just put slits in it if it can be done. Thanks!

    • @stitchesbyjulia
      @stitchesbyjulia  2 года назад

      Hi Vickie, I show how I do it in this video :ruclips.net/video/ZLrFqzJfkxU/видео.html I cut up the side seams and then edge finish. I am using a serger in this video but you can also use an appliqué or stretch stitch on your regular sewing machine. This really helps open up the bottom giving more wiggle room. Hope this helps, Julia
