    To reduce wastage and enhance absorption I find the bowl method works well. I learned it through the curly hair community: basically you do the application over a bowl to catch the run off, then keep dipping your hair back into the bowl to resoak it, squishing (still over the bowl) in between dips to really get the product into the hair shaft. This way my hair soaks up the whole lot and I don’t waste a drop. I LOVED all your tips and am about to go try them out right now 👍🏼

      Yes! I used to do this, but don't end up with a lot of excess formula anymore really. But yeah, it's also important to catch the drippings like you said, because it's so expensive!

    Hi! Great hair! And video! I'll be doing the Olaplex bleaching process for ultimately going with a gray/silver color. At 50 I was looking into how best to fight the gray wash my hair has now. Decided to embrace it totally lol. I'm a spastic, fantasy driven, star warsy, guitarsy, stick out in a crowd (complete nerd) type anyway. Was wondering if there's anything I could/should do as far as pre-treatment for best results and health of my hair leading up to the somewhat scary bleaching process. Hair is not too bad as I've only colored it once about 10 yrs ago (black). I only wash every couple of months (rinse once a week) as my hair can be really frizzy and liked the texture the natural oils and dirtiness gives it. I call it heroin hair lol (I've never drank or did any drugs). Only product I use is a touch of TRESemme mousse for a bit of texture and control. Or should I just let whatever hair tech I chose take it from there? Here's a short vid that gives an idea of my hair. Not sure what color it is. Not brown. After shampoo it's a more dark blonde. And each strand is a different shade. And now with a substantial amount of gray. Thank you for any advice. ruclips.net/video/JFeZAk-uAHY/видео.html

      Thank you! Whenever I've met guys with long hair, I always marvel at the fact that somehow their hair feels stronger and healthier than any girl's hair ever does. As far as before the bleaching, definitely let it get as oily as you would before washing it, that'll offer the best protection to your hair (maybe even put some coconut oil through the ends if you're really concerned). And as long as they use Olaplex, it really shouldn't get damaged. I think you're really gonna love the texture that bleaching gives your hair, because it tends to make it very piecey (that's the best way I can describe it.) Since they'll likely tone it silver, the toner should optimize your hair's ph, but if you feel like it's still getting frizzier than you'd like after that, I'd maybe look into using a ph neutralizer. And maybe a hair oil or conditioner if you feel like it's more dried out that normal. Other than that, I'm sure you'll look badass rockin the silver hair!

    Idk how so many people say they don’t see results from the first application. I recently bleached my hair and colored it three times in the span of two weeks to lift it from a very deep dark brown to a medium/light ash blonde. Needless to say my hair was fried! I ordered the entire Olaplex system minus number one and number two and after one use of the whole system my hair feels amazing. It doesn’t feel brand new but it definitely feels stronger. I woke up this morning with my frizz very under control and my ends are not as dry as they normally are. For damaged hair it says to repeat the treatment 2-3x a week so I’m about to do it again and see if I get even better results! Wish that number one and number two were available to consumers but I guess that’s what number 0 and number 3 are for. I personally feel like number 0 is just the already diluted version of number 1 for standalone treatments.

  • @audaciousred

    I'm confused. Olaplex says with step 3 it should be used on towel-dried hair and that once it's dry it no longer works, yet you say you use yours on dry hair? I'm confused

      They mean to not let the no. 3 dry out in your hair, so you can remedy that by putting a shower cap on after applying it.

    I cover the sink beneath my head with plastic that can pick up the leftovers from the no. 1. I put that back into my application bottle and reuse it the next time I need the the treatment. The other way is just pouring money down your sink.

    Hi, thank you again for all your research...would like to ask how often you use #2 by itself as a treatment, and how do you use it as a leave in? I believe you mention to definitely condition after #2 however after you have conditioned, you can use this as a leave in as well? Do you mix it with water to leave in?

    • @GlamByKam
      @GlamByKam  4 года назад +1

      I used to use a pea size of the #2 sometimes as a leave in, no mixing with water or anything. But, I've started using the #6 since I got it, and it's a much better consistency to leave in. Lately I've also been trying to use #2 or #3 once a week or so as a treatment.

      As often as you feel like your hair needs it. If it's currently fried, then I would do it back to back until it feels more normal. Then maybe every 2 weeks to get back to healthy. Yes. While your cuticle is open during coloring which helps the Olaplex penetrate your hair, they also recommend doing stand alone treatments and I honestly notice more of a difference than when I just mix it into my color.

    Thank you for this video! ❤️ I bleached my hair to level 9 from jet black thinking it would be ok since I was going to use olaplex 3 in between, since they claim it prevents breakage and repairs hair from the inside. Well, it did absolutely nothing. I’ve been using 3, 5, and 6 multiple times a week, and eventually added olaplex 0, including using oils almost every day etc and my hair still broke severely day by day over the course of a month and a half. The front of my hair is broken almost to the root, and olaplex did absolutely nothing to stop it as they claim.
    I recently got my hands on number 1 and 2 from a friend and I’ll try it today with your method as I hadn’t clarified my hair prior and I did think about it that affected it, but I still don’t have many expectations. I personally feel like olaplex is a scam. Will update afterwards.

    • @GlamByKam
      @GlamByKam  4 года назад

      Oh no! 😟 I've personally noticed a big difference from using it, but I think in scenarios like that, number 1 mixed with the bleach is the real heavy lifter. Every other step in their system is more like maintenance, and doesn't overhaul your hair completely like 1 and 2 do.
      If your hair is still breaking, did you use anything for ph after bleaching, like a cuticle sealer?

    • @xxo5294
      @xxo5294 4 года назад

      Glam By Kam thanks for your reply! I just rinsed out number 1 and 2, left them on for about 3 hours... sadly I don’t really notice anything different than with olaplex 3. Slightly softer right after but the hair is still elastic when wet, I still see all the “elbows” on my hair strands (like the breaking points) and it still takes forever to blow dry which tells me not much happened if anything. It also still looks like cotton candy now that it’s dried 😭 I guess only time will tell if it helps it stop breaking, but I’m not really expecting anything. Sucks because I have an inch of roots that I’m too terrified to bleach or even dye it back to black as I’m scared I’ll lose all of it, so I’m kinda stuck with this mess.
      I think I have no choice but to not straighten or do anything with it for months. I’m very sad and frustrated but I did this to myself. I should have known it was too good to be true 😣

    • @GlamByKam
      @GlamByKam  4 года назад +1

      @@xxo5294 The elasticity is from too little protein. Try the 1 and 2 again, then Aphogee protein 2 step (from Sally's) immediately after. That's the most reparative combo I've found so far! And you may need to repeat that a few times. Good luck, I know how frustrating it is! 💕

    • @xxo5294
      @xxo5294 4 года назад

      Glam By Kam thanks for the suggestion! I’ve done protein treatments after olaplex 0 and 3 and it made my hair feel crunchier when dried and not any less elastic when wet 🥺 I’m scared I’ll make it worse. I just don’t know what to do. I feel like after 1.5 months of very consistent olaplex, conditioning, oiling, and protein that my hair would have at least stopped breaking. I have little faith in these things now. I wanted to love and adore olaplex as I’ve been watching olaplex videos literally for YEARS before I decided to try it out and well, it didn’t work at all for me 😭

    • @OO-fm3sw
      @OO-fm3sw 3 года назад

      @@xxo5294 Although Olaplex does work wonders for me, I think preventing is better than trying to repair. Perhaps Olaplex at the very beginning and prior to bleaching would have been a better bet :/
