    I missed notification of Cherry Tool Tote Shows #2 and #3, so when notified that Show #4 was up earlier today, my Saturday afternoon was set. Happy with my day's work in the shop, I walked the dog and fed her, which usually puts her to sleep for the day. Cued up Show #2, made sure the thumbnails for #3 and #4 were clickably nearby, then into the kitchen to make a big bowl of popcorn. Because, Ken, you are my Cineplex. Thank you.

    Burnishing with antler- next level tip! I played in the Mens Senior Baseball League pre-pandemic. Wood bats only. Many players broke bats on a regular basis. My bats were "boned" (burnished w/ force) and lasted multiple seasons. I boned them after every season to get a compressed, hardened grain. Swear by it!

    • @treebangham
      @treebangham  2 года назад

      Yep, played little league baseball as a kid. Wooden bats were all we knew. Never heard of burnishing a bat. Very interesting.

    Bueno, no se si fue usted, RUclips o yo mismo pero ayer no conseguía traducirle... ahora si.
    Me encanta el trabajo, la unión en cola de milano y el mango con caja y espiga acuñado, los laterales con clavos antiguos rematan un trabajo genial.

    If you start getting annoyed by the pads on the Harbor Freight clamps, Lowe's has Jorgenson replacement pads that will fit.

    • @treebangham
      @treebangham  2 года назад

      Yes, I bought those clamps from Harbor Freight about twelve years ago. The pads were of better quality back then. Those same clamps are still sold at Harbor Freight but the pads are now flimsy and fall off constantly. The Jorgensen replacement pads are much better.

    I love the combination of olde timey woodworking and modern. Interesting build. Great work. Do you think Agate would work to burnish the finish?

    • @treebangham
      @treebangham  2 года назад +1

      Yes, agate would work very well. Carvers often use small polished pebbles for this purpose. Thanks for commenting.

    Great looking tote! Does the antler tip leave any marks in the end grain?

    • @treebangham
      @treebangham  2 года назад

      Thanks David. The antler tip isn’t very sharp, it’s quite rounded, useful for getting into tight areas. I didn’t have any problems on end grain. Thanks for the question.

    Which tool tote do you prefer to use, beveled or straight sides? I was drawing up the beveled tote and it occurred to me that you perhaps found it didn't function well and that is why you made this tote with straight sides

    • @treebangham
      @treebangham  Год назад

      Hi Tony. I really don’t have a preference. I enjoy exploring the different design features and joinery methods for these totes. I don’t have much of a need to transport my tools because most of my woodworking is done in my shop. I use the totes mainly for sorting tools and materials at my workbench. Thanks for the question.

    Thank you! I wonder, does rubbing pollisoire over the nails do any damage to the straws in the polisher?

    • @treebangham
      @treebangham  2 года назад +1

      Very good question. I did a test first. The nails can damage the straws if they protrude even a little bit above the wood surface. I used a crowned hammer, then a sanding block to make sure each nail was flush. Any slight compression during burnishing wasn't a problem. Thanks.

    I have two real complaints with this video. 1. You are using an electric drill ( you should be using a hand operated drill) and .2. The hammer is far too modern. You should be using rock for the hammer and I could go on about the modern style clamps as well :)

    • @treebangham
      @treebangham  2 года назад +4

      My video needs a subtitle. “Viewer discretion is advised, what you are about to see contains graphic use of modern woodworking methods. Some electrons were harmed during the making of this video.”
