Some more helpful advice for new players... Pro tip: once you have two or three companions in your party you can actually distract guards and shop keepers with your friends while your character steals them blind behind their back. Another pro tip: if you start a farm, creatures will come and devour your crops. Wall in your farm (and your farmers ..lol..) With no gates, enemies will not attack. You can inventory swap all your farm goods and wares you want to sell over the walls. Related Pro tip: Keep a squad of warriors outside the walls to transport and sell goods. Keep a squad of labourers inside the walls to grind away and keep the supplies and money coming in. Keep your training structures outside the walls so you can quickly train up new recruits while keeping your economy safe within your sealed up base. Build as many wheat farms as you can fit in your walls. Make and export grog for profit. Try to steal research from armor and weapon shops instead of buying it. It's very expensive and they leave it lying around in containers. If for some reason your walls get breached, hide inside a structure. Close and lock the door. Eventually the raiders will leave. "With no gates, enemies will not attack." Actually just tested, enemies can and will destroy walls of your base to get in if the AI pathing cannot find a gate.
Most of that comment is outdated though. I suspect they havent played the game in a while because 1. enemies can and will destroy walls to get into your base, 2. enemies can and will destroy the door to get inside a house you are hiding inside and the rest is just him saying how broken stealing is - which is accurate.
Hint for this special city: there's a thief's guild building. The guard offers you to join the "Shinobi" for 10k but you can walk in for free. Get up to the 1st floor where you find training equipment for melee (2 puppets), lockpicking (2 chests) and assassination (single puppet). You can start training and the thiefes will tell you to stop ("This is for private use only/Only for guild members"/...). You can continue training until you get a 2nd warning ("I told you to stop!/What's wrong with you?/ #just a blank grey banner#) - then stop and the person who gave the warning will leave the room. When he's out of sight you can continue training. If the person who warns you is the only one with you in the training room you can make him go away after the 2nd warning and you'll end up all alone in the room for a few moments. That's the time you can even steal stuff from the thiefes 😊 That way i raised my stats for melee (there's a max. level for training like this), lockpick (currently 11) and assassinate (currently 9). You also get some extra money for the stolen goods.
Ofcourse you can do that, too. It's just one of many ways to go. Did some mining as you said but i discovered that nearby settlements have well equiped shops and that i could make a huge profit selling e.g. stolen robot repair kits for 4k each while copper sells at ~220 each. As i'm new to the game i'm not familiar with the allies system yet and didn't want to ally with thiefes right away from the start. Just wanted to save the 10k, went in and tried using their equipment and stay a "free" man. Now the 10k are peanuts for me 😊

Also if they find out you steal, they'll never do business with you again. And trust me, sometimes that sucks because the economy on there is real. The Hub trader has only 1000 caps to spend when you have a lot of merchandise to sell, you can't go to the Outpost because he refuses to trade with you. You'll have to run all the way to Squin to trade.
Great video my man, just bought the game and i was completely lost on even what to do or how to start out. this feels like one of those games where you have to know how to properly start out so that you can flesh the game out otherwise you would be super lost on even what you can do, I.E Mount and Blade

I just got the game and was wondering what the fuck was happening and how to get better. Seven minutes in he gets chased by a group of bandits, runs into a bar, starts a fight between the bandits and the people in the bar, runs away, then "Right now I'm running for my life, that's good because it's training my athletics stat". What have I gotten myself into?
really want to get into this game but almost everytime i start to set up hunger kicks in or i get attacked and then if i survive that, i cant then get any materials to build
My start is to kite animals into city guards. Found the area around blister hill is good for river raptors but the city to its south is perfect for bulls. Once I got my town started, vegetables for food and wheat straw for grog which goes for over 1000 cats a piece. Very easy to accumulate 100k in an hour with grog.
Ik I’m late but if you attack a drifter and run and he is in pursuit then the guards will start a war with the drifters (usually the guards will lose with certain mods) but you can loot them and make so much so quickly..
Great tutorial. Sorry if it was mentioned already, but another way to earn good money is scavenging. Follow a group of bandits, from afar, until they confront another group and wait till they kill each other. Grab their stuff and sell it. Kenshi is awesome!
Looting is probably the easiest way to start and survive. Getting lock pick and stealth up is key as well as athletics. Picking up items from tables/shelves and putting them down (and repeat ad infinitum) increases thief skills pretty quickly and is easier than looting from containers. Break into shops at night and steal everything you can and move to another town to sell. Food is the hardest thing to come by. Once you get some high level thief skills, survival becomes much easier. Running away is the best thing you can do most of the time until you get a decent squad of at least 4 people. Soloing is possible but not until you get really high stats. My best squad of 6 has stats over 50 in str, dex, toughness, and higher than that in melee, defense, and weapon skills and I still have to run from some battles because it's easy to get overwhelmed. Kenshi loves to swarm enemies at you. I killed over 30 beak things in the Crater and had to run for my life because waves would just keep coming. Just when you think you're good, something will come along and beat you down. Survival is tough in Kenshi! Good vid!
