- Part 7 of 8 for completing a Halo 3: ODST LASO playlist in the Master Chief Collection which will grant you the "Safety Not Guaranteed" achievement.
Level - Data Hive
Difficulty - Legendary
Skulls - Skulls will automatically be selected when you select the Halo 3 LASO playlist. They are as follows: Black Eye, Blind, Catch, Cowbell, Famine, Grunt Birthday Party, Iron, IWHBYD, Mythic, Thunderstorm, Tilt, and Tough Luck.

Virgil escort is more resilient than Capt. Keyes escort. Shots fired.
Tip for anyone using the Flamethrower, or just any turret: Don't know if it's a bug or it has always done it, but if you walk diagonally with a turret, you walk at normal speed with it. Just angle your camera and walk diagonally, and you can feel free to use turrets without being slowed down.
btw Silver at 8:04, you can deload those 4 last brutes. So before you enter the room at 7:59, hug the left wall of that hallway and when you enter the room turn left looking at the pillar. If you walk up to that pillar and then turn right and go the middle of the room, the 4 brutes will despawn.

You gave me painful flashbacks when you mentioned escorting Captain Keyes. The Truth and Reconciliation took me longer than Gravemind did lol.
I was doing this easily and when you showed me the fusion core strat my heart dropped. I thought I was gonna be so unlucky. Got it first attempt lol.

Real surprised how good the flamethrower is, I slept on that thing every time I played this level. Can't wait for Coastalhighway, that's gotta be the most difficult one but I'm hoping coop with the gausshog will make it alright. Thanks as usual!
Something that actually helped me a bit on this mission was the brute shot, the thing 3 shots jackals so any part where there's a crate of them it's not an awful idea to spam them down instead of the classic noob combo.
Same, I used the flamethrower like once back in 2009 to get 10 kills with it for the achievement, but never used it again until a couple weeks ago, lol.

I was very worried that that fusion core jump was going to be another one of those tricks that take dozens of attempts to get the hang of, but was very happy to nail it on my first try! Seems really easy and reliable compared to most tricks of this kind.
I cant do that Chieftain trick to save my life..... Guy does a 180 mid air every time.
Something worth noting is that if you dont have all the audio logs (mine didnt sync from xbox to pc even tho i have the achivement) at 8:55 when you jump down 4-5 buggers will appear from the door. They are not to bad to kill, but they caugth me by suprise. Just a heads up.
This mission is so much easier with all the intel.
Thanks for the guide! I was able to clear all of the levels today, with only Tayari Plaza and Coastal Highway tripping me up. One thing I did here that was helpful for me was bringing the flamethrower through the cutscene (you can use the trigger while holding it) and bringing it through the fight after you drop down the shaft. Since it deals damage mostly through enemies being on fire and not the flamethrower itself, you can just tap fire and barely use any ammo (typically only one burst is needed to kill every enemy). Saves a lot of hassle against the jackals!

Phew, seems like a long mission but pretty straightforward, I'll try it out later today, but I believe you make this look much more easy than it seems. Well, it's the penultimate level, so driving up the challenge a bit more will make beating this run on LASO pretty rewarding!

Either this guide is outdated by a playlist update, or this guide does not have mythic skull on. Brutes take more than 3 headshots to kill with a beam rifle, similar to how it takes at least 2 spartan laser rounds to kill a brute or wraith on the ONI building guide video.
Yeah the wraiths took me 2 shots as well but worked out. Wasn’t sure if I was just missing the wraiths G-spot lol
I went in with the “buddy” to look for ammo and then left him even though he wanted to kill me, then all my future allies were hostile towards me, so don’t make this level harder on yourself. That being said, you can speed run a bunch of the second half
So the marine/policeman doesn't get killed by the buggers in the laso playlist even though there are no audio logs to collect? He is very helpful distracting all the brutes in the section after the room where he is supposed to die.
I don't think so, you must have the audio logs for the policeman to follow you.

I wonder how that works on co-op...like if player 2 doesn't have the audio logs, if the dude will still follow you and be invincible
Right before the frozen section on level 9 with the brutes, the game despawned my carbine mid weapon juggle.
This game hates me.
Also, FYI, you can keep the flamethrower through the cutscene.

If you're like me and accidentally didn't despawn the drones because Dare got to the other side of the room, don't worry. Just give her the extra beam rifle and she'll kill all of the drones by herself.

Beam rifled one of the cores right after jumping to set them off. Carbine would work, too.
Warning about the buggers on level 9 would have been helpful
I have the absolute shittiest checkpoint and my marine is now dead
Edit/followup for anybody with the same issue: Get all the audio logs on easy mode to get the Audiophile achievement, then the marine should stay alive each time (no buggers)
Restarted the level after getting the achievement and just managed to back smack the chieftain and cleared the rest of the brutes with grenades/the police dude, this second run went way better than the first overall xD
Hey is anyone not having any of the ODST achievements popping? Because after completing the campaign, I got nothing

How many people doing LASO use a makeshift reticle and how many do all of LASO without a reticle?
I personally have never used a reticle from Reach to ODST. Won't for H4 either. I realise it makes it harder, but I have nothing to make a reticle with, plus, for the most part, I'm accurate.
I've never used a makeshift reticle, but at some points I "cheat" a bit by pausing the game so the menu cursor pops up showing where the middle of the screen is :p
@@PhluppeHimself I use lowered crosshair, so it's not in the center for me.
I whent through Reach with no crosshair but when i jumped into ODST i picked up this app called CrossOver on windows and its perfect, i plan on using it for every Halo LASO from now on.

I just use a crosshair overlay on PC
