Pistachios must be like gourmet candy for the squirrels. ❤️ 🐿️
Pistachios are one of the best nuts for them to eat for winter. Unfortunately they are also the most expensive. You're an angel for all you do for the squirrels and birds!!

As l told my kids they absolutely love Pistachios got the spelling right this time the kids replied yes so do we !!
Here in Australia the most expensive nuts are Macadamia's at around $48 per kg.
Most squirrels react to pistachios like they hit the nut jackpot!
Nothing melts my heart faster than watching these little guys and gals eat "with their hands". I had a chipmunk who'd remember me every summer when my parents took me camping in Oregon.
We always parked our trailer at the same spot, deep in the pines, and as soon as we'd sit out roasting marsh-mellows, my chipmunk buddy would run up my lap knowing I had peanuts waiting.
The chipmunk would let me pet him, and he was jealous, shooing his buddies away from me.
I knew him from when he was a baby and in successive yearly visits saw him grow to be an adult and obviously a Daddy chipmunk.
I had a chipmunk in Huntsville that would come every morning and sit beside me while I give him peanuts for about three yrs straight don't know whatever happened to the Little critter I have pictures of him taking it right out of my hand
I had a squirrel who would sit beside me and wait as I opened the nuts for him. I had to do this because a neighbor didn't want shells discarded in their yar.d. But it's cute to watch your squirrels opening them so expertly
I'm very glad you enjoyed watching them open the pistachios 😊❤️ I noticed that when I feed them nuts in shell, it makes quite a mess, so that's why I don't do it very often.
Ha, my neighbor also dislikes me feeding the squirrels but even if I didn't they bring all kinda stuff from who knows where, I have found apples, pecans, black walnuts in my porch swing cushions none of which I gave them
I now buy bags of shelled walnuts from Costco for my woodland furry friends to avoid the peanut shell mess …especially with my son having 2 nut allergy friends. My house is the Ritz Carlton!
Being empathetic, I had to take a mental break from animal videos most of them are so sad with people being cruel. This platform has made me so happy, to see fur babies being treated with love and respect. A mental vaca for my brain.😊
With a view like that at your window you certainly wouldn't need TV

Hawks and owls are predators, and crows are somewhere in between. We have a lot of squirrels in our yard, as well as wild rabbits, foxes, and songbirds. You can always tell when a predator comes around, because the squirrels go up the trees and the songbirds stop singing.

Squirrels are very sloppy eaters, but the little birds like cleaning up after them.
Got one that comes to the or window to let me know he's here. I come out & sit on ground & hand feed. Gave him a chestnut the other day &oh he was ecstatic.

It's nice they have a fresh water source,puddles on the road are the most polluted with oil and petrol mixed in.

I'm surrounded by them as my lounge window looks out onto a huge garden. They are so funny to watch, I feed them apple cores when i have finished devouring it. One squirrel jumped up onto my window to check out my settee i think it wanted to sit and watch tv with me. This is good ASMR.
Squirrels have their preferences and will bury nuts they like less and eat immediately their favorite, it looks like to me. A very cute video was someone feeding a chipmunk pecans for the first time and the creature was so astounded apparently at how good they were that it paused and placed its tiny paw on the human's hand. Amazing.
I can picture it, the little squirrel's hand on the human’s hand, as if to say...”Hold on; don't move that gigantic bolder hand of yours; I'm about to pass the hell out; THAT WAS THE BEST THING I'VE EVER EATEN IN MY LIFE!”

Our old home the squirrels came right to the patio door windows and looked in for us to feed them and sometimes didn't move as nuts feel around them. We give them shelled walnuts and hazelnuts in shell occasionally. The Bluejays love the almonds and swallow them whole!

I'm glad to see they like pistachios. Well, except for Rico! 😀 It's always interesting to see how animals are not this generic thing that people sometimes think. They have their own individual personalities and quirks. I wonder if they actually like the taste of pistachios, or if they just like how easy they are to crack open. The squirrels in my yard certainly do like them, and now I'm finding empty pistachio shells all over the yard and driveway 😂 I am honestly kind of surprised at how little interest they have in the walnuts I put out for them, but pistachios disappear quickly. 🐿🥜
I am surprised too, because my squirrels love walnuts. But like you said, they all have different preferences. 😊🐿️
I find this fascinating too! Even snakes- can vary greatly in personality within a breed. And Every now and then, a genius chicken is hatched!
I’m new here, and was just going to ask if they’d ever had walnuts. Be interesting to see if they could open one, and funny to see one try to cheek one.
Our family used to feed peanuts to squirrels. My father even used a hole saw to make tunnels in small logs for them. They entertained us a lot in the winter.
I love squirrels. I had a 3 legged pet squirrel when I was a kid. We found him with a broken leg as a tiny baby after a storm. We took him to a vet and he had to have his leg (one of his back legs) amputated. He got around just fine on 3 legs. Would ride on my shoulder. He would scare the crap out of people as he would leap from a tree to ride on my shoulder. We named him Perry.
@@Caperhere They're definitely expert nutcrackers. Walnuts, Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, almonds, all shelled in seconds where a human would struggle with a nutcracker. My squirrels get nuts in the shell by the bagful when they're in season here during the thanksgiving/Christmas seasons. Not only is it an extra fun treat because they love to chew and it's like a little present they get to open, but it's also a survival necessity. A squirrel's teeth keep growing their whole lives and they have to wear them down or they'll have serious dental issues.
What's impressive about this is how fast and effortlessly they can open them. Pistachios always leave my fingers sore afterwards from opening the shells LOL!

I wish we had more people that love them like we do. I go. To Walmart & get the big bags of squirrel food it has corn sunflower seed. Then I get the big bag of nut I kinda have name them. The babies that have been coming around for a while his name is Sammy when I call him he will be up in the tree looking at me the other one is charlie ,they are so sweet to watch

They sure are cute, all fuzzy and ready for winter. I gave our squirrels walnuts for the first time recently, they weren't too sure about them at first but they knew they were food. Crazy to think how easily they can pop them open!

I've been putting out bird seed and feed for the squirrels in my backyard every morning for 3 decades. I have found that the squirrels like roasted peanuts in the shell the best and so do the blue jays.

I feed my squirrels walnuts sometimes. They really love them. I try to give them a variety of food. I feed them peanuts, the squirrel food that comes in a bag that has the corn, peanuts in the shell, I feed them the black sunflower seeds that the cardinals like so much, the regular bird seed, the songbird seed and plenty of water. Every now and then I’ll find something to let them try but most of them like the black sunflower seeds and the walnuts the best. I love watching them. I get a lot of birds, too. At night the raccoons, fox, skunk and sometimes a possum comes to my deck. I have a lot of birds as well.
Another sweet video. I always look forward to uploads. It was sweet how Cutie got really still when the Crows gave the alarm call. That’s the way my squirrels react. They know the Crows will alert them to danger. Interesting that Rico didn’t want pistachios. He was like, “nope Momma not gonna happen. What else ya got”? 😂. Stay warm. I put out some almond butter on a plate for our local squirrils. Hilarious. It gets sticky in their mouth like peanut butter. They have to figure it out. Very funny.

I have plenty of squirrels that live in my backyard and the general area, but they will rarely come to my window because we have two cats that use the window to go in and out. But i do feed the birds, squirrels, bunnies and other little critters that visit my yard. No food goes our my trash ever. We eat every bit of what we prepare around here. There is no food wasted ever. I put whatever veggie scraps that accumulate outdoors for whoever wants them. We also have a big old woodchuck, groundhog or whatever you want to call him that has been living under our backyard shed for at least five years now. He and the cats must have come to an understanding, because i have not seen ant direct confrontations between them. I have noticed them both in the yard at the same time ignoring each other, doing their own things.

I had an amazing experience while eating lunch outside. A blackbird came close and chirped as they do. I went to get him/her a peanut. I came back out and this smarty was sitting on the table! YUP! Found it's peanuts! Never had that happen!
