As others have mentioned, Al is an Oxford historian, remarkably intelligent. At the start of his shows he talks to everyone in the first few rows, remembers their name and occupation, then riffs comedic material around it. The chap he was talking to was a composer he spoke to earlier, which is why he went straight to him to see if he knew how to play 'God Save The Queen'. I can only echo what others are saying, definitely react to more Al Murray :)

it wasn't great but it's maybe something to build on. different head speeds, different cultural speeds. My son is American and they know f all about the world. Just need more exposure to U.K. humour (uk spelling )

Gents, I would recommend anything by the British comedian, Micky Flannaghan - Al Murray is wonderful, he is in real life a very educated man who's historical knowledge which he uses in his comedy sketches is unbelievable - I would recommend you both watch British and who we have defeated. Thanks for posting

This as Al Murray’s pub landlord right wing working class persona. Similar to Sasha baron Cohen’s Ali G, Borat and Bruno.he is a really smart man and very funny.
I hope you read.... it's a character comedy he is like a proud British landlord that guy that talks wild shit down the pub but some is relatable, good content tho if you going comedy go inbetweeners school comedy but good and funny to see you and your son compare times DOWN TO EARTH PPL

watch 'mock the week' and 'blackadder ww1' there are loads too many to put down
Pretty sure the guys didn’t get some of the subtler jokes in there…like near the end Al says about periods and werewolves…and draws a similarity…meaning of course women with pmt can be dangerous like werewolves…but the guys kinda talked over it without noticing. You have to listen for each joke delivery.

There are more Al Murray sketches that's funnier. There's Ricky gervais stand up shows, Peter Kay, in fact there are lots. The humour is a bit different to American humour, I think the word play is cleverer.
Al Murray has a history degree from Oxford.
A lot of this skit is poking fun at British imperialism. Btw, he's a graduate in history from Oxford.

Al Murray is playing the ficticious part of a Not so typical PUB landlord, who is a bit of a Red neck Know it all. Al is totally different in reality. A very educated guy from a upper class back ground.
