    • @bluemoon9868
      @bluemoon9868 3 года назад

      @natalie You are talking about talent. That is a different argument. I am talking about rule of thumb. I am a soccer player. So I can say height is matter. If you are short, you MUST have talent. Otherwise you are out. In football or soccer if a player is tall, he/she still has an advantage over the other players. Example: In soccer, Messi is an exception.
      I am sorry I don't see Skiing, Ice Skating and Horse Riding are pure sports.

    I love watching volleyball. I've seen quite a few match in different yrs and team playing against USA, one I'm impressed about is # 11 as a pace setter, Shoji very good stopper and digging up balls,Russell, Anderson, Lee very blocker and spiker,spider, one Sanders can jump high considered his height to the rest of the players but he needs to improve his serving. Serving percent error was so high, that's there downfall otherwise, THEY'RE VERY GOOD PLAYERS.

    I think that the teams were evenly matched but Japan's focus on technical skill and attempting to out-think their opponent makes me respect them more as a cohesive unit than the USA of which being honest has raw power and personal skill more so than team cohesion. Just my take on it.

    • @leahkmlee
      @leahkmlee 4 года назад +3

      with due respect, professor pixel, perhaps the first two sets could be considered as evenly matched, but the last two sets, with scores of 25-11 and 25-14 in the USA favor, as much as I admired the Japanese team's tenacity, it was not even at all.

    • @jdar00019
      @jdar00019 4 года назад +4

      @@leahkmlee in addition to what you said sir. USA wont be top ranked if they are less of a cohesive team per Pixel's standard. Lets note that during these time, 3/6 regulars just got out of college but theyve been playing really well. Plays are executed wonderfully, Blocks are organize. Although floor defense needs improvement and this US weakness is not new.
      Respect to Japanese Team but lets not discount the fact that US is way better team.

    • @megazardxy7542
      @megazardxy7542 3 года назад +1

      Your take is completely, annoyingly wrong. Resorting to tipping frequently is not "focus on technical skill and attempting to out-think". Japan tipped more in the earlier sets because they can't compete against the US blockers. Eventually the tips stopped working because the US was picking them up easily, and Japan was forced to try to swing, but were then getting blocked left and right (literally). I can't even fathom what you mean by team cohesion, since Japan seemed to be the team having more communication issues. Also, just because they were scrappy does not mean they are more cohesive as a team. You cannot seriously try to rationalize the claim that the US is evenly matched with a team they beat 25-11 and 25-14 in the last two sets (with some subs in, by the way; the gap could've potentially been even larger). You're right that the US has more raw power and personal skill. But they have no less team cohesion than Japan, and are objectively far beyond Japan's level.

    Wow, ALL of the services were aimed at Ishikawa (though some missed), did they already perceive him as such a threat? Or hoped to score of his receiving? (Or maybe both?) He still seems a little insecure at that, especially at the beginning of the match (I know he's just 19 here), but that's one way to practice receiving services hahaha. And he still got the Award for Best Outside Spiker - what a stamina monster!

      身長がバレー選手の寿命を左右するんですよ、アタッカーの身長低い選手は25歳までピークですが、2mぐらいの選手は35歳までハイレベルでプレーできるのが一般的ですよ。

      I've been on this mission for at least 37 minutes and I've gotten as far as 'CHA-CHA-CHA-CHAMPION - Sexy Zone' but I cannot find a link and I am already ashamed of how long I spent on finding the theme song from the 2015 Men's Volleyball World Cup.

    Nowadays it seems to me that the World Cup in Japan has lost some of its importance because, unless I am mistaken, the three finalists do not guarantee more seats for the Olympics. If so, it will stop being the most important competition of the year and lose prestige to the World League.

    not to say, but we must admit the Americans had a hard time dealing with the Japanese here.
