Teremoana Rapley - Four Women

The second solo release Four Women is originally a Nina Simone song. Initially given an 'A' Rotate listing on commercial radio stations throughout Aotearoa until, the networks listened to the lyrics and took it completely off air. Thank goodness a dope ass music video was created which gave it longer television air play. Music Video: Directed by Ross Cunningham, Edited by Gregor Boyd (I think...) Conceptual Design: Teremoana, George Nuku and Ross Cunningham. Make-up: Lisa. Stylist: Tracey Tawhiao and Teremoana. Production Runner: Paolo Rotundo. Players: Steve Harrop (upright bass), Steve (Grand Piano and Strings) and Miguel Fuentes (percussion). Recorded at York Street Studios, Auckland. Released around 1995 with permission.

Thank you all for your comments - FourWomen - love your version (thank you). This was done when I was around 20. I am almost 40 now. This was released at a time when it was not cool to be conscious of self (also when originally written)- so the video had to be inviting to networks regardless of lyrical content. Thanks People x

I like it.....it's very different....that's the BEAUTY of this song....any person can do it in his/her own interpretation of it....I never heard this version but I like very much.......And a "beautful" young woman sings it....so you can't go wrong..thanks for sharing!
