It's easy to forget just how good the GC's graphics were. Still hold up very well today. Particularly the cell-shades games

@Balakeh in terms of GPU yes it was more powerful, but the CPU in the Gamecube granted in more raw power with polygon fill rate and stuff
Gamecube had shader level 2.0 ahead of any console, in NFS Carbon you can see features only available on PC with shader level 3.0 GPUs.

Very decent takes indeed, sir, and very amusing too. I would personally have put Burnout 2 higher and Wave Race: Blue Storm somewhat lower, but other than that, this gets my seal of approval. Bonus points awarded for GT Cube and Auto Modellista.
+TV-GAME Fan Good stuff! Points had to be awarded to Wave Race for being a launch title, having dynamic weather which affects the water and having not had a dedicated home console follow up since. Nostalgia may have played into this one somewhat! Cheers for the feedback

My personal favorite is XGRA. It’s the 4th installment of the Extreme G Racing series.

F-zero gx love this game I've bought 5 copys coz I played it that much story mode on on very hard is so unforgiving but to complete 1 mission you once took all week to do theres nothing better

Burnout 2 is the most solid arcade racer here. The mechanics are just superb. If it only had few more challenges modes and stuff to unlock for the end game it would be 10/10. As is 9/10

I can't agree on this list. Double Dash pisses me off so much whenever I play it.
As much as I laugh whenever the same bad fortune happens to my friend instead.

Honourable mentions:1080 Avalanche and Sonic Riders.
1080 Avalanche was another great racer on the Gamecube. I know there's tons of snowboarding games to choose from, but for me, I love the sense of speed that game provides and how rewarding it is when you master the controls and dare to go through the more risky paths.
Sonic Riders is debatable, as while there's some weird balancing issues and a lack of a sufficient tutorial, it can be tons of fun when you know what you're doing.
Games I love on this list: Mario Kart: Double Dash and F-Zero GX.
Double Dash was my first Mario Kart game, and while not my favourite, was a ton of fun, especially attempting co-op with friends.
F-Zero GX is flat-out my favourite racing game, and imo, Amusement Vision's magnum opus. That's saying a lot, considering those developers' other works, but they just nailed it with GX, and created a worthy successor to X, better in every way imaginable.
Games I didn't like on this list: Wave Race: Blue Storm.
I don't have any problem with its placement really (especially considering I've only played half of what's on here) I just couldn't get into Blue Storm. As someone who loved Wave Race 64 and still enjoy it to this day, I didn't really like how its Gamecube sequel controlled by comparison. My favourite racer in 64, Miles Jester, didn't really have a suitable equivelant in Blue Storm, and while I get that the game went for a speedy approach this time round, I prefer the water physics of 64 and how you could use them to your advantage.
Dont even heard a lot of these titels but damn I love F-zero Gx. Its quite a challenge on hard or extreme. Thanks for the video and comment mate. Much love from Hannover, Germany
F-zero gx is pretty much the definition of speed and difficulty. Fuck off sonic.
Auto modellista doesn't have bad handling. The drifting is really fun and adds a whole new layer to the game.

I'm happy you included Blue Storm on this list since it's underrated, but how come you guys overlooked the Extreme-G series? Several people have brought up XG3, but I had XGRA on the Gamecube and I really liked the weapons, speed and vehicles in that game. I think one of the games should have made the list.

F-Zero GX, the perfect racing game!
The first game gave me the drift city feels
I played Racing Evolution on the Original Xbox.
One of my fav underrated games.
NO EXTREME G RACING 3
1- mario kart double dash (much more fun and has a strong replay)
2- wave race blue storms (the game has a soft but deep learning curve, it is also more hardcore than its version of n64)
3- f-zero x (a hardcore game, but it is an easy game to get bored with)
Its f zero GX. And if you got bored with it it either isn't your cup of tea, or it was too difficult for you.
F Zero GX is a masterpiece imo. If you like that game, I'd definitely recommend Xtreme G 3. It's the only other GameCube game with the same sense of speed so I'm surprised it didn't get a spot on this list

Sonic Riders is criminally underrated. It's the best Sonic the hedgehog racing game out of the bunch in my opinion. Also, thanks for mentioning Pac Man world rally. I love that game!
Sonic Riders would have been built on the same engine as F-zero and Monkeyball 2.

2:30 - Pac-Man Vs. isn’t actually «buried within».
The PAL version of the R:Racing came with the Pac-Man Vs. Bonus disc the same way Pac-Man World 2 did in the US. This is the only way to get Pac-Man Vs. In Europe afaik. Not sure how it got distributed in Japan

Anything other than Mario Kart or F-Zero to be perfectly honest.
Mario Kart Double Dash, Kirby's Air Ride, and F-Zero are 1-2-3 in terms of best racers on the Cube, and I feel WaveRace has to stay on there as well. I also really like Extreme G III, though its pretty much F-Zero light.
If you want me to pick a specific game to take off your list for Kirby, I'd remove "18 Wheeler" because I personally didn't care for it, though I get that you'd include it on the list because its..."different" and relatively unknown.

this is indeed a great list overall, and I was admittedly too aggressive in my appreciation for "Kirby's Air Ride".
its probably just as much of a "personal choice" on my end.
Got a madcatz PS2/Gamecube&xbox wheel the other day, played Mario Kart gp1&2 so far, very impressed with the wheel(buttons can be remapped) looking to get these games now. thanks for the video

Gt cube did come out in the USA I bought it it came with this steering wheel attachment you put in the controller in the center and act like your using a steering wheel

Can someone confirm that R Racing Evol. in this video is being played in an emulator ? Because I have R.R.E. (I play it in Wii with component cable) and my graphics are plain crap compared to this video's graphics, actually in my Wii R.R.E. played in a FullHD TV looks a lot like a SEGA Saturn racing game because its graphics are terrible, I'm thoroughly impressed with this video's graphics.

Pro Rally has an 8.6 out of 10 for user reviews, however the only one you can see is a 10 out of 10 from some dude in 2003. That’s the only user review you can read.

I'm F-Zero X fan, but i must admid that the best racing game for GameCube is easily XGIII.
I can't say XGIII only because beyond 1000G the game was too fucking hardcore for me. Fun tho. But holy fuck. Harder than playing through the entirety of Gran Turismo 4 licence tests.
Graphic capabilities of the GameCube are apparently better than the Xbox! They obviously never pushed its capabilities!

Burnout 2 is pretty cheap. I got mine for about 15 bucks and it's a pretty solid racing imo.

this is not an accurate list, it's more like an opinion... how is it possible that Kirby Air Ride and Extreme G 3 are not here??... and Burnout 2 deserves a higher spot... and by the way, the critics were right about Pro Rally 2002, it is mediocre... when you said User Reviews gave it 100% on Metacritic, it was based on only 2 reviews.

Double Dash is total garbage compared to 64's awesome Mario Kart...Lousy tracks, terrible small battle arenas and the double drivers switching mechanics are terrible.
