The 10.3 straight axle builders kit is an awesome platform to start with. That is what I used as a foundation for my wrecker build. Side note, the struggle is real, when it comes to having to clear out the leaves before crawling on the home course. Also, two videos in the same day…. Awesome!
The devil is in the details that's the fun stuff making them look as close to 1:1 as possible, I agree the canyon trails look more scale. Thanks for sharing
I do the white lettering as much as possible, with a magnifying glass because I'm old and can't see lol! Try to do the panel lines with black wash, I think that makes the body look more realistic. Awesome video Gerry 👌
I checked your weather report 10 to 18 inches.Wow you can have that stuff buddy , Yeah, I white letter all the time.Makes them look better make them run better 2👍🚚🚗🚗
Nothing wrong with modifications to factory equipment at all, I cant see why some would say its a waste of time. I used to soak single stage foams in acetone amd wash them with dawn and water toss them in the dryer it softens some of the harder foams up, but that was way back when this fancy stuff wasn't available. I feel that a lot od the older ways have gotten lost or made fun of because in the crawler community in general lets face it its like werr spoiled because options have become endless. Everyone ans there brother seems to print 3D inserts now lol! I try and modify any stocker stuff to see how far you can push it I consider it a learning experience personally. Those Canyon trails I still feel are a fantastic tire for being off an rtr rig. Great video Gerry glad to see ya back posting content. Us older generation Rc guys gotta still put out these ideas some do definitely appreciate it for sure, ✌ oh and I like the drivers name 😀 😄
True about spoiled! But I have limited my self for sure by being cheap, when I buy a fancy mod it feels like iam spoiling myself. Being old we get stuck in our ways and I always look for my own mods over looking online! Thought you might like the drivers name!
As far as my cheap mod goes, if it’s a performance oriented rig, I take the spring cups off the shocks instead of buying new ones right away. It actually makes a world of difference on the rigs I’ve tried it on. Also, I use mini bungee straps from Walmart as limiting straps. They are way cheaper and last longer than actual shock limiting straps. Just a few bucks will get ya a big jar of them. They also work great for strapping down rigs on a trailer as well.
Never have taken off cups, will have to try! My goto for cheap has always been the auto parts store so it's nice that when I walk around my store my brain is always spinning!!🤣🤣
@@gerrysoldguyreview right, I’m the same way in almost every store I walk into. My mindset is always “what can I use for the RC trucks around here?”. As far as the spring cups go, it’s definitely not something I do to my trail rigs. However, if I come up to a crazy rock section with a trail rig, I have pulled the cups off for that particular section when needed. As easy as most of them are to remove and reinstall, it’s worth it for that bump in performance and stability, in most cases. It’s always one of my first “go to” mods when I get a new Capra or something similar, it makes a huge difference.
Great video. I might never try that with those tires. I honestly think my FMS blazer outperforms most of my trail trucks if they all were at stock form for sure. I can't wait to see the new FCX 10 LC80 they just announced. I don't know if I will get one sent to me or not. I sure hope so. If not, I'll be buying as soon as I can.
Thanks bud! Just had the fcx10 out for it's first snow run and it was a kick in the ass!! So fun. Oh I to think I may have to get the lc80 looks so good!
Im the king of cheap, i use the plastic trays from those cheap banquet frozen meals for inner fender wells. They are preformed, strong, flexible and you get 2 for a buck. Well you used to until they jumped up to a dollar eighty. Friggin Biden lol.

I will have to pick up the builders kit, most of my project trucks are axials. We'll I have now surpassed leaves and we got 3-4 inches last night!

Thanks Derrick we are in complete agreement! I love what some markers and paint can do!
