THIS is what I have been looking for as far as a simple, straight forward tutorial on cutting/pasting etc in Logic that NO Apple manual teaches. Thank you so much for making it simple and intuitive.
Yet another awesome video. I only started using those commands very recently, and they are really helpful. But since I’m already having to memorize so many key shortcuts, I just end up clicking on the icon to the right of the question mark that’s part of the first group of icons on the toolbar on the far left, and up comes a second toolbar with those same commands. Just easier for me to keep track when I need them, but essential as you said. Appreciate it, Josh!
Also, worth mentioning, that you can use arrangement markers to map out the song structure and you. can simply ALT-drag arrangement sections around to copy them or just drag them to move sections around.
Already have a full video on that topic: ruclips.net/video/bg3R5eswDGk/видео.html Some people, including myself, get annoyed by arrangement markers. They do some weird things with the selection sometimes.
Thanks for the video. Does it move automation points with these moves? I guess yes when you have it set in preferences that by moving a region automation points will follow, Right?🤔
Is there a way to choose the time signature/tempo of a blank measure before inserting it between two existing measures and haveing the time signature and tempo of the measures following the inserted measure follow them to their new location?
When cutting a section, it gives me a warning about adding a weird signature (11/16!) to preserve later signature changes (yes I have later sig. changes). Does this mean it won't left-shift my later time signatures when I cut a section?
I have a measure of nothing just a one measure and then songs starts playing again. BUT I want the music to push not start on the 1 but on the 4.3 of silent measure and just continue one HOW???
Would anyone know if Chanel Strip Settings can be backed up / transferred to a new system?? Getting a new laptop and I wouldn’t want to recreate hundreds of presets/loops/Chanel strips etc...
isn't that function is just the same when working using track arrangement instead of using marker? Always enjoy your video bro. Thank you for sharing lots of Logic knowledge and tricks
Arrangement Markers in Logic do the same thing, but some people still prefer doing things this way, because it doesn't bound the section of a song within the marker.
CAUTION CAUTION!!: Please use this info with caution!! I have found that using the "...between locators" functionality can break some drummer track functionality, like the Follow checkbox! If you are relying heavily on something like that, best to do things the long way.
@@MusicTechHelpGuy found a different fix where I can maintain the drummer track, where you run a Join on whatever track the drummer is following after adding silence

Really useful. I’ve been using logic for more than five years and I didn’t new this trick and I have to do it all the time. Thanks.
Wow! For all the time I've used Logic, I've never used these functions. What a time saver! Thanks!

Jesus. That's so helpful, especialy when i work with my 100tracked orcestal songs. Thanks!

Yes. It will always move Region automation. And depending on the automation preferences you've chosen, it can move Track automation as well.
@@MusicTechHelpGuy ahhhh Great, thanks for the reply. 😁❤️
You are a legend. Thanks for all you do, it’s a huge help. 🤘
Thank you! I'm still new at logic but making good music already. I find this very helpful.
Great job as always Josh
Thank you. This video helped me out a lot!
A great tutorial. These functions are very helpful for me. That saves me a lot of nerves.
Thank you 🙏🏼
Exactly what I needed, thanks!
I've been mixing on Logic for year and never knew this. Great video. Thanks.
I've been making songs and mixing on Logic for 7 years and there still are a lot of stuff I haven't used before! :)
“Hey everyone, this is MusicTech…" okay, here’s a like button :)

Great! Does the inserts change the drummer arrangements? Should I freeze the drummer track first?

very helpful to new logic users thank you!
Does this also work with looped regions?

Another Lesson, thank you
Thank you, this is really helpful!
just what i needed!
the cars
awesome thanks just what I was looking for
Thanks, Music Tech Help Guy!
I simply do not have the "cut/insert time" option in my edit menu. I have Logic Pro X. I can't figure out what to do! It's just not there.
This was so useful, thank you so much
Very useful! I wish I had known about this sooner
So helpful, thank you!
I can't believe I didn't know about the "insert silence" function. I've been doing this manually for about 15 years!
isn't that function is just the same when working using track arrangement instead of using marker? Always enjoy your video bro. Thank you for sharing lots of Logic knowledge and tricks
insert section at playhead will not allow me to click on it. Please advise. Help file is useless
Really very useful. Thanks a lot..
gr8 tutorial beginner of LOGIC!
What?
awesome
Thank you bro
Arranger mode in Cubase does this automatically. Still work to do Apple.
Arrangement Markers in Logic do the same thing, but some people still prefer doing things this way, because it doesn't bound the section of a song within the marker.
Struggling with this...
I never knew about this
Rules!!! I have a massive orchestral arrangement with large track count, tempo changes, etc. This is make it so much easier to move sections around.

Convert your drummer tracks to MIDI and it will lock in the "follow" position data with the MIDI notes. Then you don't have too worry about that.

Will save me a lot of wasted time, thanks
God teach me how to use things
LOL
I could kick myself for not using them doh, thanks.
