Lazaro's Gaúcho accent was very good, specialy in the "R" inthe middle of the words. The linguistic diversity in Brazil is wonderfully beautiful. I love my country and my state.

This movie has a very special place in my heart. It's set in my hometown (Porto Alegre), and I just think it's a beautiful little portrait of it aesthetically and in tone. Also, Mado, I see you are a bit lost with brazilian geography, so I'm planning on doing a little map with were each big city and movie you watched are set, so you can kind of find your way around it mentally. Anyway, GREAT work as always, keep it up! :D

We have this documentarist, Eduardo Coutinho. He was one of the greatest at his craft. You can watch any of his movies and be amazed. I would recomend at least one: Playing (Jogo de cena). It's incredible and simple

- o menino e o mundo (the boy and the world) - this one is amazing, such a delicate movie with a very powerful message at the same time, i think it's right up your alley. i think you'd like it!
- até que a sbórnia nos separe (until sbørnia do us part) - this one is a really quirky, fun, beautiful story. it's beautifully made as well!
more live action movies i think you'd love:
- capitães da areia (captains of the sands) - this is one of my ABSOLUTE favourites. it's based on a book of the same name, by a great brazilian writer, jorge amado. the story, the characters, the culture, the photography... everything in this movie is just beautiful
- faroeste caboclo (brazilian western) - this movie is based on a song! the song is by legião urbana, one of the most classic rock bands from brazil. it goes by the same name, it's such a classic most brazilians that play the guitar know how to play this song haha. the story is so crazy detailed it translated perfectly into the movie! by the way, this band's lyrics have such good stories that another one of their songs was also made into a movie! it's the one right below!
- eduardo e mônica (eduardo and monica) - also inspired by yet another legião urbana song, this is simply THE most iconic, classic, couple/love story for us. every single brazilian knows the lyrics to this song by heart hahah and the movie is really cute!
- eu não faço a menor idéia do que eu tô fazendo com a minha vida (i have no idea what i'm doing with my life) - this one is more of a quirky, silly, coming-of-age movie not many people know about. more of a teenage, lighter movie, but if you're into that kind of genre it could be a fun watch as well

Esse filme é estranhíssimo e o inicio teria de deixar a certeza de que o Lazaro Ramos era bem deslocado, dai ser lento. Se não fosse assim, a reviravolta no final não seria tão surpreendente. Para mim, é um dos grandes filmes brasileiros. Dele, também tem o excelente "Madame Satã" e "Meu Tio Matou Um Cara".

To me, still the best brazilian movie, a masterpeace, is "Pixote, a lei do mais fraco", maybe the translate would be "Pixote the weaker law". You should try watch this one...

Zé do Caixão is the father of Brazilian horror
The narrations are an narrative resource that when not used correctly DO get kinda annoying. Sometimes it is an stylistic choice, and sometimes it's just problem with a movie. I think a lot of Brazilian movies are adaptations of romances, novels, and biographies. That's why narration are so present. It's hard to transpose some intentions for the screen, without the narration resource. But yeah, it can be annoying.

you should watch the mini-series "Capitu" based on the novel "Dom Casmurro" by Machado de Assis. It's the best thing TV Globo ever made and it's all on youtube!
Capitu is a good one, but the best mini-series Globo made was "A casa das 7 mulheres", but it's way too big for reaction, over 50 episodes.

In a lively tenement in the historic center of Pelourinho, in Salvador, everything is shared by its residents, especially their passion for Carnival and their dislike of the building's liquidator, Dona Joana. Everyone tries to find a place during the last days of Carnival, whether working or playing. Annoyed by the partying, Dona Joana decides to punish them by cutting off the building's water supply.
