I wrote these riffs for my Ibanez V8 vs Lundgren M6 pick-up comparison video: • Ibanez V8 vs Lundgren ...
They are different from my regular style to accommodate the comparison but I thought it's a good idea to put it up separately.
The video is not play-back, I was actually recording the left guitar channels in real-time while shooting the video (as you hear it at the end).
    Hope you like it.
    Equipment used:
Ibanez Prestige RG1550 BK (w/Lundgren M6 in Bridge position)
    Harley Benton B-450 Progressive bass
    Motu M2 Interface
    Cubase 10.5
    JBL LSR 305 Monitor Speakers
Neural DSP Nolly for distortion (boost pedal engaged)
Neural DSP Darkglass Ultra for bass

Just to clarify this is not a pickup comparison 😅 I'm just playing all the riffs from my previous V8 vs Lundgren M6 video (with only the Lundgrens). If you enjoyed these riffs please consider subscribing to my channel. Also consider following me on Instagram instagram.com/balashtoth/ or Facebook facebook.com/BalashToth
    Thanks 🙏

Thanks man 🤘 I actually don't like these riffs so much 😁 it's just they didn't get attention in the 20 mins comparison I think.

Awesome vid. I use almost the same stuff as u do and I’m not even close to that quality of sound. I dont know if its my audio interface that struggles or whatever it is :/ it’s an Steinberg UR22 (2010/11)
    What interface do u use?

Thanks for the feedback man, I'm so glad you like it. My answer's gonna be long :)
To be honest I don't think it's the interface. I had a Steinberg UR 12 before and and in this video I used a MOTU M2 interface. The sound quality is pretty much the same I'd say, but the Motu has perks like, front panel level display and 2 combo inputs and lower DI input level which is works fine with active pickups as well. Make sure you set the input gain level to 0. I don't remember a time when it wasn't on 0 for me on the UR12 :D The guitar-sound is the Neural DSP Nolly it's almost untouched in post, there is some minimal max 1.5 dB EQ here and there and that's it.
3 tips I learned the hard way:
      · Make sure the drums hit hard, it helps your guitar sound as well. I used EZ Drummer 2 in this one and even though they say it's processed, there is still a LOT to be done make it good sounding. Don't be afraid of radical EQ moves especially on the kick and snare. Having said that, I never gave a second thought to any other drum plugin, EZ Drummer is good enough if you know what you want to hear. I use a combo of the Metal! and Metal Machine expansions in this video.
      · The low end of bass guitar needs to stay clean. If you use distortion on bass it's a good idea to create 2 or 3 tracks for bass guitar: one for clean bass, one for mid-bass and one for high bass (if needed) put a high pass filter around 300 hz on the distorted bass before it hits the distortion.
The high bass channel I normally use when I want to "glue" the guitars a bit more to the bass: with a High bass around 700Hz, low pass around 4-5Khz I let the bass DI through the same ampsim that's on the guitars, so it will create some bass guitar sizzle, barely noticeable in the sound really, but it kinda glues the guitars and bass together and brightens up the bass guitar a little (especially cool with old strings, haha).
On the clean bass channel put a LOW pass filter around 300 Hz(!). So you will have the clean bass from around 60Hz and 300Hz only, compress the shit out of it but nothing that distorts it. It's gonna be the low end foundation that always should remain clean.
      · Low pass filter in the amp sim guitars should be on lower frequency than on real amps. Like 7 Khz is good starting point, but it can be even lower if you're tuned low. This filters out the insane digital fizz that makes me wanna stop playing guitar all the time :) If it becomes too dark you can put some "good" highs on it with a little post EQ boost around 6Khz. Also multiple guitars build up some 400-500Hz, I normally use a wider max -2d cut there (but whatever you feel right).
      Hope this helps.

Riffs sound so cool that there is no difference in the pickups. 🤘 Cheap guitar in the hands of a good musician always sounds great 🤘👍😎

Maybe it's misleading, but these are just the riffs from that video 😁 everything played on the Lundgren M6 😃 And its an Ibanez Prestige, not exactly cheap 😅Thanks for the comment man 🤘
