i get bullied a lot at school for being a furry. my boyfriend broke up with me when i told him and then he told the whole school. but a lot of kids support furries and are furries in my school and now i have a HUGE friend group to hang out with. i sometimes wear a fox tail to school as well

I feel as if I should mention this to furs that want to go big and beyond. School is NOT the place to wear animal ears or tails. People will pull on them, bully and overall shut you down. School is not the appropriate place to wear these things. I'd also be careful wearing these things in public places where lots of people are. It is much more dangerous, especially if you dont have someone with you. Please do not wear these things in school as I want all of you to remain safe! Thank-you!

College is a different story. Most people who attend college don't really care about that stuff. But I'd still be careful about wearing them in public regardless.

ive worn ears and animal paw mitts in public as well as hoodies with ears and havnt had any bullying issues. those hats with the animal ears were pretty popular for a while in public schools (dont know if they still are). Never worn a tail though. I did get teased for jogging though....people are weird

If she monitors what you watch, then 'show' her the good side of the Fandom and then when she sees and gets you to explain why you are watching such 'horrid' things, explain to her in a not painfully obvious way, what furries true intentions are and why you are a furry
My favorite part about my high school is that the school mascot is a wolf, and whats my fursona, a wolf, whats my favorite animal, the fucking WOLF, so i wear ears and a tail to school on fridays or whenever i feel like it and i get compliments from other students and teachers, I LOVE IT

Flashflood The Hybrid most of the fandom are lgbtq, so theyre already familiar with being a minority and it may be not as hard to express yourself as being different because you're kinda used to it. straight men in society are generally expected to be the most masculine, perfect representation of a man and therefore its harder for them to express themselves when they are something out of the ordinary.

Alaski The Wolf What I've come up with so far is that my species (I call them Synwurff) is bipedal and evolved from wolves that were genetically spliced with other animals. They look mostly wolf-ish with feathered wings, feathers on their face, and a tiger-like tail. They are mostly androgynous and the only way to tell their gender is by the ring markings on the tail. They are highly intelegent and have USBs coming from under their tongue. They can also teleport short-range. Do you think that it is a species or just a hybrid? Technically, they did evolve from hybrids. Sorry that was kinda long ^^;

Yea, I have no idea how anyone I know would react... I asked my sister if she knew any furries and she was so... off-putting about it? She said, "No, why would I?" and then I asked if she had any friends she THOUGHT were closet furries and she said, "Yup. But I'm not telling you who!" then I just slunk back to my bed. My mum might not react that well, even though she knows I have a tail and ears.(They don't match though.) So to cut this paragraph short, I'm a full blown closet furry too...

Probably because I made that reply before I made my other account also I had another furry account but I got a new device and forgot the password to it. Daffodil Draws It's nothing you have to tell anyone as this fandom is mostly just that, a fandom. But if you really do feel the need to tell someone show them something someone created like furry art, fursuit dancing or maybe just a regular RUclips video explaining what furries are and then say that you're also interested in it. That's the best advice I can give without knowing the situation fully. Just remember that it might be best to just keep it to yourself until you meet someone who wouldn't mind it.

Don't say "I'm a furry." Say "I'm a part of the *furry fandom*, a grouo of people who share a love for anthropomorphic animals. Basically animals that walk, talk. And wear clothes!" I also suggest coming out over text if you can't say it to her face.
I'd also suggest linking a video like majiras "My kid is a furry!" Video.

Funny story about stickers, I have a few Bad Dragon stickers on my laptop, and had brought it over to a friends house. Neither of us knew the other was a furry until he recognized the stickers. It was both really funny and quite relieving since we knew that we wouldn’t have to walk on eggshells around each other

Erm...think of it like being a fan of a major sports team. Secretly being a fan means safety. Showing your pride for said team on the wrong places on Earth can earn hard stares, harsh language, fist throwing..._hospital stays_. I mean, as long as there is 'anything' one person can stand for that another can hate against, it loses the general notion of being stupid.

For a graph com class we made covers for our files, I made the colour theme match my fursona, a friend noticed and thought it was cool that I was able to put my fursona into it without being too obvious :)

In Frome in England everyone makes fun of furries. I am a closet furry because of my amazing

But i went to my friends house and we started watching youtube videos with him and a furry cringe video was on his recommended and he started ranting about how stupid all furries were and I just sat through it and it felt horrible. For enamel pins, they are also called lapel pins, and they are usually worn on the lapel of a blazer, coat, or suit. You dont have to wear it there but if you have to go out to a formal outing or something, enamel pins can be worn there

My art teacher is a furry. I had kinda figured cuz of the mask he wears at school (we have mandatory masks rn) and the shirts he wears and everything. On Halloween he even wore a fur tail. I think that it’s pretty cool.

I've been wearing my purple Melbourne furry pride wristband everyday since 2015, not to specifically show my furry pride but because it's like the perfect size to never really feel it on my wrist, and I'm so used to wearing it now it feels weird if I take it off.
So, slightly related to you saying "I don't like people giving me weird looks out in public" in reference to wearing things like like ears and tails in public, I tend to work at a haunt in octobers, so I frequently go out in public in costume. Usually leaving the big things off, but I'm decked out in make-up and stuff. I love seeing some people's reactions.

Tricked my artist friend into making me a furry tshirt
lanyards are another pretty cool way, i have a key card for work and i keep it in a work issued lanyard, but i've been thinking about getting a custom one commisioned of my furson from a furry artist (none are springing to mind, but i'm sure the other commenters can help out) i've seen people with custom lanyards and i love them, i need to get one commisioned.
or even out of work i've seen people with lanards hanging from their pockets, card inside the pocket, that looks pretty cool and would be a subtle way to show pride.
