Congratulations to the people of the Netherlands! I visited your country back in 1972 when it was perfectly safe for anyone to walk the streets of Amsterdam and other Dutch cities and towns any time of the day or night without fear. I hope Wilders can help bring those days back. He alone cannot achieve this. It will take political will and the support of the Dutch people to save their country. Western civilization is at stake.
It is still a perfectly safe country. It’s not like people are going to rob you when you walk down the street. In fact, the Netherlands is one of the safest countries in Europe.
The issues that made people vote for him are housing and the overall cost of living as well as the annoyances people feel mostly with Dutch Turks and Dutch Moroccans. The other immigrant groups (and we have many) don’t cause any noticeable problems - nothing you regularly hear about on the news at least. You get whole parts of the major cities where if you walk around you hear Arabic and Turkish being spoken around you. You go to the supermarket and the cashier is speaking Turkish to the customers in line before you. You get looked at like you don’t belong there and they’d rather have you leave. And the people who have been speaking up about that, were labeled a racist for decades and were shunned from the coalitions that ran the government. So now the people have spoken that they want something to change.
Dutch need to save their culture.
It's not FPTP so he might not be Dutch PM.
His party got fewer seats than the centre and centre left parties combined despite getting the most seats and most parties vs each of the other partiee individually. The centre and centre left parties are far more llkely to work together rather than with Wilders party to form a coalition.
Foreigners have destroyed Europe
When everyone is suddenly labeled "extreme", it loses all meaning and the actual extremists fly under the radar. Just because someone is right of Karl Marx, doesn't mean they are "far right".
"Far right" just means a normal person with common sense , who works and takes care of their family.
If the majority on the right hold a position, its no longer far right. Its just the right wing.
Totally crazy left positions of ten or twenty years ago are now considered mainstream left or event moderat.
Hopefully the rise of Euro skeptic parties like the AfD in Germany will give the elites and other political parties pause. Some self reflection is in order rather than fear mongering.

Not even dutch blood here, came from a Yugoslavia as a muslim immigrant and i even agree with what he says. People who believe he is a racist just jump to conclusions due to their own soft and ignorant nature. What wilders says is completely true. The age of enlightenment in history was when religion and state were separated from each other. Everyone can and should be able to practice their own religion, but the environment should still be safe and no ones religion, ideology or belief system should be shoved in our face. He has a strong opinion on Islam. but he never expresses direct hate towards it. People just lack the intelligence to not identify themselves by the religion they choose. So when someone says something about it or has questions about it they get all defensive about it, but no one says you are not allowed to believe in it. There is just concerns on how it is applied in practice. People should have more faith in the goodness of others. The stupid thing about fear is that just like having faith it is based on something you cannot see and the media has been all about making people afraid about everything for the last decades. Not only the Netherlands needed this, but the whole world needed this. The religion itself is in no danger at all, but people should just train their mind to think a bit more rationally. It is clear that even Wilders has turned out to be more accepting towards the religion than he made it seem like in his history in the parlement. I'm proud of him and how strong he was in his recent debating years. Really strong character and a leader to look up to.

Look. I visited Amsterdam many times over the years. I’ve even lived in Hague. This shift was inevitable. Holland is SO much different than it used to be. The last time I was there (2019) was the first time I experienced a moment where I was in full debilitating terror and did not feel safe there. I was on the train home to Hague from Amsterdam. Didn’t notice my surroundings and next thing I know I’m alone in the train car and an African migrant was harassing me, invading my space, and touching me without consent. Longest 45 minutes of my life. When I got to Hague he followed me off the train and would not leave me tf alone. I had to call an Uber rather than walk home that night. Hague was probably the safest city I’ve ever lived in. I walked alone at night with no issues. Amsterdam used to be like that but not anymore. And if you’re queer? Oh man…you will literally get harassed for being openly queer now. That happened to my friends last year. All this to say, Wilders winning is a reaction. Rather than shame people for voting for him, the powers that be need to start listening.
