- Far-right populist Geert Wilders has won big in the Netherlands' general elections. With almost all the votes counted, his Freedom Party (PVV) is on track to double their number of seats in parliament.
But without an outright majority, building a coalition government is likely to be difficult for Wilders.

The dutch are well known for their tolerance and straightforward no holds barred thinking. Geert has shown that there is a limit to tolerance when it comes to illegal immigration.
It’s all legal immigration, because the government didn’t even create laws to reduce it to begin with. This has (apart from other problems) resulted in a massive housing crises.

Immigrants in Netherland consists of groups from different countries and among them as per one study I read African origin like Algerian have more tendencies of crime.( Based on police report, which can be biased) while Turks are least. Also second generation is highly likely of commiting crime because of lack of social integration.

@@mensen4488 When the initial euphoria dies down, the surprise and euphoria will make place for disappointment in Wilders. Had his party not done quite as well, the PVV would've secured a place in government as a junior coalition partner. Since the roles are reversed, the chances of finding suitable coalition partners -- junior partners -- are slimmer. Wilders is a victim of his own success.

Are you sure? Ifd Germany has taken the similar position regarding to migration and the poll has shown suprising initial support. They also called out EU as a failed project. I think there are coming wind of change across EU despite Orban tends to be on a bad spotloght by EU medias but most Europeans seem to have an informed decision on climate that would best fit to recover current sliggish economy along with elected sensible politicians.

I live in the Netherlands and all the people here were so despondently done with the current climate regulations, mass immigration endless drug crime and skyrocketing costs. It will not be easy in the time to come because of all the counter-demonstrations, but a historic change has definitely been made.

It's a small country, and Dutch children can't buy a house because of the enormous amount of immigrant occupying the houses. People 35 years old still living with their parents, no house available. Why call Wilders a Populist? He was democratically elected by a majority of Dutch adults (that's not populist - that's democracy - voted a majority by the people). Congratulations to Mr Wilders and his party. This election will mark a turning point in European history.

Math isn't your forte. 24% is less than half of a majority. Moreover, populism is pandering to the disgruntled masses, which Wilders has now succeeded in. It's not something he's denying -- nor is anyone else for that matter. Hence, 'populist' is entirely fitting.
Also, it's not the first time a right-wing populist party has suddenly risen to such heights in the Netherlands, but the previous phenomenon was of short duration. The party in question, the LPF, buckled under the strain when invited to co-govern. Wilders had better take note.
They call him a populist because he appealed to the people's Reason and Compassion. Aka what you expect any decent politician to do.

Rising sea levels is not going to make it easier. The Oosterscheldekering is designed for a rise of 40 cm trust me, the sea will win eventually and our country is at high risk with more than a quarter below sea level and 59% at risk for flooding.

You live below the sea level because that part of the Netherlands used to be at the bottom of a lake before Dutch engineering changed that. Climate change is real, but the current EU policy doesnt actually try to remedy it in a realistic way.
