- The Netherlands woke up to an unexpected victory for Dutch anti-EU far-right populist Geert Wilders and his Freedom Party (PVV) - a forecast win that has triggered shockwaves in the Netherlands and could have reverberations across Europe and beyond. CNN's Anna Stewart reports. #CNN #News
This is only "a shock" to those who have not been paying attention. The entire continent of Europe has been drifting toward the right for at least a decade now.

As a Dutchman who watched the elections closely, the party of Geert Wilders isn't actually far-right to be completely honest. Statistics said that 80% of the voters who voted on the PVV were majorly concerned about immigration. The PVV had the most reasonable plan for the majority of the Dutch population, because our last gouvernment fell because of the immigration problems our country had. The PVV is only seen as far-right because of their view on immigration, but at other themes in their electionprogram, they were more left-centred than non-Dutch people think. Wilder also said that he would soften about his plans about his vision about anti-islam. Hope this clears up something for the people who think that the Dutch would vote on Wilders because of his anti-islam plans. This is not the case.

No, it’s a fact that there’s hardly anyone “far left” remaining in politics in the EU and the US after the fall of communism. The social democratic parties back then could be regarded as moderate left wing, due to their policies. Today they have policies that back then the centrist Socio-Liberals housed. So really, today the Social Democratic movement is quite the centrists when it comes to how their policies fits on the defined political left wing-right wing scale.

You don’t understand what the political terms “right” and “left” means. It has absolutely nothing with where the median, average, or majority voter stands. It’s about ideology and actual policies. The far right will always be the far right even if everyone would vote for the far right. With your arguments you could say they the fascist in Italy were centrists. Obviously they weren’t.

So to make it more okay to belong to an extremist movement. South Korea, Japan and Taiwain are not homogeneous countries, and they all have substantial populations of non native residents. For example, in Taiwan, ethnic groups include the Amis, Atayal, Bunun, Paiwan, Puyuma, Rukai, Saisiyat, Tsou, Yami and others. Korea is experiencing labor shortages and is encouraging immigration.

Wilders was a prominent member on the right side of the VVD, but he's difficult to work with so he left the VVD and started his own party with only one member: Wilders himself. So he has never problems with members, there are no. To gain attention he said some hard words about the islam, and he get some attention orf some islamic idiots. Since then he claims that his live is in danger and thus need constant protection. How big the danger and how real it is ...that is secret, but Wilders constantly use it to make promotion for himself.
Meanwhile it has become common to blame foreigners, especial muslims, for all the bad thing that happens. I know this sounds familiar, it is fair: a lot of those foreigner gave problems because they are not well integrated.
However, why do we have so many of them?... well in the past big companies needed cheap workers, the left PVDA (labour) wanted better working conditions and salary ... so the companies said: well then we got temporarily workers from Turkey and Marokko. The PVDA was very much against this, but the big VVD, yes with Wilders as one of the promoters because they wanted to break down the power of Labour, so the VVD agreed and supported to bring all those foreigners to the Netherlands. Of course, they thought that those workers would disappear after a while... but they didn't and became a problem.
What problem: the lefties like PVDA wanted that the foreigners also got good conditions and that they were allowed to bring their family to the Netherlands.
So in short:
When Wilders was VVD he supported the import of foreigners from muslim countries to do cheap work with conditions the Dutch Labours did not want to work for.
Then the foreigners didn't go back and wanted normal life conditions, supported by labour.
And now Wilders claims that the lefties are responsible for the muslims here...no he is!
Another fact: the lefties were against Greece joining the Euro because their poor economics, but the VVD, yes with Wilders, wanted them with the euro because they thought they could make good money on that.
But when the problems came...again Wilders attacks the lefties because they were to friendly for the Greece..
Wilders creates a problem and when the others try to solve it, he blames them they are not doing it well.
And when he becomes a bit less popular: he yells something and then claims that his live is in danger... like with his movie. He did so many efforts to get the muslims in action against his movie Fitna...but nobody cares because Wilders has never done anything that is worth something.
And I'm not a lefty.. so called right people might call me that, but the lefties consider me as right. For me on both side of the political spectrum there are interesting ideas, but the more noise they make, the less interesting and Wilders has proven that he doesn't understand anything: He's one of the people that brought all those cheap workers to Europe!!!Labour was against it!! Yeah, the thing is you should keep in mind is that in a system with many parties like the one in Netherlands, being the largest doesn't really mean as much if there isn't another party or two that shares your views, since you can't form a majority government without them.
I don't think there is a majority that is in favor of leaving the EU in the netherlands by a long shot; since the PVV is pretty much the only major party that wants to; and not all PVV voters will probably support it, so he might end up with a 'leave' vote of only 20 to 30% at max.
No FVD wants to leave too. And 8 out of 10 dutchies want to stop immigration.

I figured so much regarding having a King or a Queen in a country. It basically all shows and is good for tourist money. I have been to Spain, England, Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and other countries and backpacked in 1971 and in 1973 as a tourist. My favorite painters have been the Dutch Masters too. I remember when Queen Wilhelmina was there at the time. I think Royalty is interesting but it's not popular anymore with a lot of people in their own countries.
I am glad I got to see a lot of Europe when I could but now I am old and can no longer travel as I have major physical problems in traveling and do not have the money anymore. Besides it's too dangerous to be American and travel. If I had the money to travel it would still be too debilitating for me as I use a wheelchair most of the time.
