I've had the Galaxy watch 3, the Galaxy watch 4 classic and I just ordered the five pro. I'm thinking I may regret this, because I love the dial on the 4 classic. When you're running and sweating, the touch screen doesn't always work properly and that's where the dial comes in for me. We shall see.
@@ChigzTech can you PLEASE include a detailed comparison between the Pro’s touch bezel vs the 4 Classic vs the regular 5? Thank you for presenting the apps and main characteristics. All of the other videos I've watched only cover the new features, assuming that everyone watching already knows the basics...
Just pre ordered this today. Really looking forward to seeing it on my wrist. This will be my first smartwatch. Thanks for this review Really handy for me to see before purchasing
This was extremely thorough and helpful review. Thank you for taking the time to go in depth with its features. Can the 5th version be worn in the shower, washing dishes, etc without water damage? I saw a few post on other sites about people doing these activities and the watch 4 becoming water damage and it voiding the warranty.
Nice review. I just went for the "small" (40mm, non-pro of course) as it fits my smaller wrist much better and the battery life should not be an issue since I re-charge my watch for ~30-40 min each morning during my get-ready period (shower, etc.). I would have loved the 5 Pro, but it is way too big for me. A decent deal with the current pricing and trade-in program... at ~$160 USD ($120 off regular price).
You got a like just for mentioning your wrist circumference! Most of the reviewers skip that part. This is how we get an idea of how this may look on our wrist.
Brilliant review! For someone thinking of buying first smart watch, moving from a health monitor watch, garmin vivosmart . I'm really after the ECG rather than a HR monitor for the old problamatic ticker... do you think this new 5 is worth it or just go with the previous 4? My other option is the garmin vivoactive 4s but no ECG. I was also told the new 5 is slightly thinner than the 4? You explain everything so clearly. Brilliant! 😊 thanks.
The 5 and the 4 are essentially the same watch. There is an extra temp sensor in the 5 which is used during sleep tracking. Dimensions wise 4 and 5 are the same in thickness (9.8mm) If your not bothered about the temp sensor, then maybe the 4 is a better option.
Yes it's worth buying, if you don't use the GPS then you will get a longer battery life which is would be around two days. The GPS is a battery drainer and will kill your battery so just turn it off when you're not using anything that such as navigation or fitness tracking.
I have the original Galaxy Watch and I love it, I have been debating upgrading for a while, but haven't because of the battery, and I really love the bezel. I may upgrade for this one though.
I definitely will buy this watch. Your review is detailed, easy to understand and you explained almost all the things I've been wondering about this watch. Thank you
had the watch ctive 2 for 17 months...few issues i had were... 1)when I would play music on it on water proof mode in the shower... 2) when I would play music and use a timer it would overheat and turn off... 3) when I made calls it would overheat ans turn off... 4) finally it died when i was charging it while it was on im guessing it overheated...hopefully this watch 5 took care of those issues
Great video! The readings from your watch will likely be more accurate than on a finger, as a finger is distal from your heart. I bought the 4 with the 46mm classic because of the battery, LTE capability, waterproof rating to 5ATMs or ATAs???(a dive watch), and the other capabilities. I wouldn't take this watch on a deep commercial dive, but for SCUBA, it should be fine. I wonder if it has a depth/pressure gauge - not that I'd use it as a primary, but it would be interesting to see if someone has coded a feature for that, and if so, how that measures up against a non-electronic or manual gauge. An on-gassing/off-gassing dive profile would be nice as well, even if it starts & stops dives manually. I haven't seen an app for that yet, but am looking. Getting a Smart Watch is much like getting a new tablet or computer. You need to spend some time using it, setting it up for the things you want it to do, battery life acceptability, etc. So far, it's a great watch!
Hi Chigz, great in-depth review thanks. Just one question - when do you charge the watch? This is my main concern with a full feature smart watch that only has 1.5 days battery. I currently use an Amazfit Bip that lasts over a month with always on screen display and all health features on. I've been following full feature smart watches for a while hoping for battery tech to improve as I can't see how a 1-2 day battery life is practical, especially if you want to use sleep tracking - when are you supposed to charge it!? I think I could live with say a weeks battery life, but 1-2 days just seems hard work! Any comments appreciated, thanks.
i charge mine while in the shower, when getting ready for a run, when cooking, etc. it charges relatively fast so i does not really become a problem. Hope this helped.
I am charging mine in the morning after I wake up. At first, I turned on just about everything, but I don't use everything, and pared it back to what I'm actually using, with a mostly black watch face, with a photo face with a couple of features on when I am actively using my watch. So far, so good. I'm still playing with settings to see what works best for me. There are a lot of features to go through... likely far more than most people will actually use. Many, like the compass, you can turn on while using it, then shut it off when you are not. Thus far, a very useful watch.
I hope it has a speaker. I am still watching the video now. I have a Huawei GT2e... No speaker. But this was a gift from my girlfriend. Yes there I see it has a speaker! Awesome!!!
Well detailed review. I listened from start to end :) it's my first time to wear one, my previous ones were Huawei and Fossil. I'm actually looking for my old watch faces like the cat character Pusheen but can't find it, would you possibly knw how I can install it in my GW 5? Thx!
Can someone explain why anyone would choose a watch that needs to be charged every day and doesn't show the watch face full time, when you can get a Garmin that lasts for literal weeks and doesn't turn off after a couple of seconds?
@Stacey Pearson You should probably return that it sounds like you got a defective watch. I have the new 5, but I also have a 2015 Samsang Gear S2 that lasts longer than 12 hours. My watch 5 lasts about 3 days and 2 days if I use it heavily.
Im perplexed, I just got mine today, but I don't have the blood pressure tile. I've went through every setting etc. I have ECG and BO2 but no blood pressure option. One of the reasons I got it. But every review I've watched shows it.
So I had a Samsung Gear Frontier and then the green vertical line showed up after warranty. Samsung offering me the Watch 5 40mm as a trade in for $179. Is that good?
Nicely done. What length band do you wear with this watch, large or small? I have a 7" wrist too. I'm trading the Galaxy Active 3, which is 45mm with the rotary bezel - has the larger band, but always felt it was to big.
Hi, I didn't see screen for temperature measuring. Is this present on the watch now or should be delivered with new FW update, like it was with ECG and BP (some countries never get those)
I can’t believe people are falling for this across the industry not just Samsung but Apple are doing it too..What am I talking about? Bringing out a pro version of a watch that costs a considerable bit more than the normal release. So every year or other year watch manufacturers usually upgrade their watches with some new feature and keep the price around the same. Bigger battery bigger screen etc. But now they have a little trick up their sleeve bring out more or less the same watch has last year and charge the same price none or very little improvements. Then bring out a “Pro”version with upgrade features that should be part of the normal annual improvement cycle and charge a fortune for it WOW! Like I said It’s not only Samsung but Apple are rumoured to be doing the same with the Apple Pro watch 😢😢
If you have never owned a smartwatch, the Samsung galaxy watch is a very good place to start. I would recommend you try to buy the GW4 classic with rotating bezel or std GW4. those watches are now cheaper and have exactly the same specs and health sensors as the new GW5 series. The extra temp sensor in GW5 and sapphire glass does not warrant the extra money. Unless you don't mind paying for the new watches, I would personally go for the GW4.

Thank you - really helpful! If you clear all notifications, do they clear on your phone too? Would be interesting to hear more about using it with a non Samsung phone.
I've tried so many times to download google assistant and get on my watch and I can't. So frustrated. Downloaded it on my galaxy phone but can't get it to the watch. Help?
Very important: Although Samsung's body composition feature is a great way to monitor your health and fitness data, some people should not use the feature. Before you get started with body composition analysis on your Galaxy Watch 4 or Watch 5,: Do not use the feature if you have a pacemaker or similar device implanted in your body. Pregnant people should not use the feature. I really wish all of you would include this warning!
It says the watch may be damaged if you charge it with a power box that isn't for Samsungs phones. I recently got the newest version of a Motorola, would that power box work for charging the watch or should I play it safe and get a power box specifically for it.
Always follow the instructions on what the manufacturer warns about because by going against their warnings on what not to do it will void your warranty if you have one and the company won't be at fault for any damages done to either the device or to you and your property since you didn't heed the warnings. Also since you have a Motorola phone and not a Samsung phone you will lose out on many of the features that the watch has and that the wearable app has , you won't be able to use the ECG monitor and a few other things that are for Samsung devices.
I had the gear fit a while back, that was the only fitness watch, you could see text messages but you couldn't reply to them, I get about 3 or 4 days battery life out of it, I had the Gear fit, the Gear fit 2, and there was a smaller version that I can't remember the name of.
On the Samsung website it claims both 44mm and 40mm of the GW5 will give you 40 days of battery life. Realistically 40mm achieved 32 hours and 44mm achieved 48 hours. That's the difference between them. Also faster charging is certainly useful, 30mins gives you 45% battery back. Hope this helps.

Nice video. But about the bezels of the GW4 vs GW5. Are they slightly smaller on GW5?
They could make a better and smarter Samsung Health app. Garmin connect is very transparent.
Aahhh so pleasing thanks a lot my bro hope you have an wonderful time ahead take love
Thanks for watching.
You are most welcome bro Gw5 pro very soon?
Yes working on it now.
That option is available. It's called a Amazfit gtr3 pro
Wonder if we can put that battery in our watch 4 ?
I got the galaxy watch 3 and happy I didn't upgrade to later models I get the 3 days battery life
Galaxy watch OG and GW3 are my last real fav galaxy watches of all time. After that Samsung kept making bad choices.
When you make GW5 pro review. Please test how GPS and LTE impacting battery performance.
Please I really need the link to this particular watch, this is exactly what I have been looking for. I tried clicking the link on your page it doesn't open directly.
Links checked and working fine.
Are the cons from the watch 4 resolved here in the watch 5?
Thank you - really helpful!
If you clear all notifications, do they clear on your phone too?
Would be interesting to hear more about using it with a non Samsung phone.
So it's basically scratch proof chigz? My Fitbit is scratched to bits . I'm a tradey and need something basically unbreakable lol
I've tried so many times to download google assistant and get on my watch and I can't. So frustrated. Downloaded it on my galaxy phone but can't get it to the watch. Help?
Very important:
Although Samsung's body composition feature is a great way to monitor your health and fitness data, some people should not use the feature. Before you get started with body composition analysis on your Galaxy Watch 4 or Watch 5,:
Do not use the feature if you have a pacemaker or similar device implanted in your body.
Pregnant people should not use the feature.
I really wish all of you would include this warning!
Will share in future videos, thanks
@@ChigzTech I'm glad you will!
You made it all in one video, well done
16:24 what about the Blood Pressure?
how far can it go without phone beign near by??? i really have to knoww
Ah man, sounds a bit meh. I'm holding out for a Google powered watch that lasts 2 or 3 days. Appreciate the honest and straight to the point review 🤌
Have you considered the TicWatch Pro 3? I think that's the next best alternative.
@@aliasgharkhoyee9501 No I haven't, I'll check it out. Thanks 👍
Galaxy Watch 5 Pro review coming soon.
@@ChigzTech look forward to it. Cheers 😎
They could have upgraded the battery more. Its inconvenient to bring the charger always with you .
If everything is the same, wtf are we paying for? Love it!!
👍
I had the gear fit a while back, that was the only fitness watch, you could see text messages but you couldn't reply to them, I get about 3 or 4 days battery life out of it, I had the Gear fit, the Gear fit 2, and there was a smaller version that I can't remember the name of.
Gear fit was cool.
Great review, thank you so much.
Between the Galaxy watch 5 40mm and 44mm which would you recommend? Is the 40 mm battery life worth it? I appreciate your help
@@ChigzTech thanks Chigz, I ordered the 40mm Galaxy Watch 5 do you think you can send me your settings for yours so i can setup mine the same? I appreciate your help.
@@ChigzTech 40 days what do u mean by that does the battery stop working after 40 days????
s @Theturbobooster Clearly Chigz made a typo - he meant 40 hours
sir are you sure this 40mm model can survive 24h ??
Can get notifications from iPhone ?
